This is a must see for any Doris Day fan!
18 January 2005
This is one of my favorite musicals. Doris Day and Danny Thomas are delightful in their roles as Grace and Gus Kahn. They do a great acting job and are very believable. The music is all wonderful and really takes you back. The reason I think the story is so good and probably close to their life is that Grace Kahn was one of the advisors when the film was being made. The movie was made after Gus died but she was still around to see that the story got told as close to the truth as possible.

Mary Wickes also gives one of her best performances. Although I have never seen her give a bad one. She is just good in whatever role she has. Her sly comments are always charming and very funny and she delivers her lines so well.

I think this should be at the top of their list to produce on DVD for all of us old musical fans and collectors. I think it was out at one time on VHS but now it's not in print. I for one vote to see this one come out again. If you haven't seen this it should prove to be a very good couple of hours spent if you get a chance to see it.

LIKE MUSICALS, SEE THIS ONE
2 May 2004
Nobody can sing a song like Gordon MacRae. If you like nothing else about the movie it is worth the time just to hear him sing. I think the movie was really good. It takes you back to a time that no longer exist and it has a good story line too. June Haver is beautiful and one of the best for song and dance. She and Gene Nelson trip the light fantastic in several numbers. I think they are just fun to watch. I may be a little over the top for some of you but one of my passions are the old musicals. Then you add in Debbie Reynolds as the cute innocent little sister and the movie just keeps getting better.

I have never seen a movie that S.Z. Sakall was in that wasn't very funny. He is without a doubt one of my very favorite actors. He made appearances in so many of the old musicals and as always was great. He and James Barton who played Dennis O'Grady were really good together. All in all if you like old musicals you should love this one. I just wish they would blow off the dust and get this one out on DVD, soon!

A MUST SEE !!
13 April 2004
If you like musicals, you must see this one. There are a lot of very good songs in this one and enough comedy to make this a feel good type movie. Cyd Charisse is charming as always and she and Dan Dailey do very well together. Anges Moorhead naturally, is a great supporting actress. Since the days of light hearted musicals is over for good for all of us who grew up during that period and time, it's nice to be able to go back to the 40's and 50's to view these wonderful days of MGM musicals. I know this movie is out on VHS, but I am anxiously awaiting the day they decide to release it on DVD. If you have 112 min. to spare I suggest you sit back and enjoy this wonderful old movie..
