Southland Tales (2006)
oh this is painful
Richard Kelly attempted to mix Warhol and PKD and just came out with this dreck...
the score is very reminiscent of Vangelis' opus from Blade Runner- in a botched attempt to honor the great film -
- the dialog is trite- -the science is poor and tries to just on the bandwagon of preposterousness that was Buckaroo Bonzai- -the directing of the actors was just half-witted- look at anyone's hand- Boxer has this 'twitch' where he taps his fingers when needing to make an important decision - which in turn makes the actor's performances unbearable
i'm reporting this as i am watching the movie and i want to rip my eyes out
i don't think i can go on
this is SO BAD
i don't think its even worth a bad dare0 i would much rather have a Paris Hilton marathon than see this again
Donnie Darko (2001)
i just watched Donnie Darko for the first time. a lot of my friends have seen it and loved it. i am one of the only people i know that doesn't own it... Thanks to netflix i just saw it for the first time. and all i hafta saw is wow did that suck.
i was completely taken out of the movie many times. it made me think " so this is what Butterfly effect would be like if a guy that was too high on himself wrote it. i don't usually take the role of the devil's advocate on movies but, most people my age loved this and napoleon dynamite (which is one movie i have not finished watching the whole way through, i feel the need to be stoned and incapacitated to watch it) i hear that the Director's Cut of Donnie Darko was like Crash, as in HERE IS WHAT I WANT TO SAY (racism is bad, in Crash) psychiatric drugs are bad- i want people to see what i felt like in the 80's, but if i had a cooler name...
Red Eye (2005)
its like citizen kane.. on a plane, without the sled
well let me start off with it wasn't the worst movie i have seen... but it comes certainly close.
i had such high hopes for this movie- when a movie is supposed to be a thriller with political overtones, unless it has anyone playing "Jack Ryan" it is going to suck- goodness me had i not seen this movie on a free pass, i would have asked for my money back.
wes craven has really lost the edge he had back with uh... nightmare on elm st... the first one...
oh this movie was so cliché i like cillian Murphy, but his accent REALLY needed some help- it did place a "i cant tell where the hell he's from"-eire about him...
Rachel McAdams, though hot, id never seen in any movies or anything before, she had a twitch, that... I'm sure was part of her character, til the climax of the second act and all throughout the 3rd act, she turned into J.Lo from 'Enough' stereotypical take no guff chick and the best actor in the entire movie, Brian Cox, is credited as "DAD" and the only scene you see him with another person was the VERY END!!!!! granted his talent eclipses everyone else, but he's lost a lot of weight and i heard murmurings in the theatre of "isnt that the actor's studio guy?" this movie saddened me wes should have made it creepier, ir would have worked MUCH more if it were a Dark Castle movie, think of that... a guy with the name of Jack Ripner, on a plane... movie called red eye, and for a while i thought he had psychic powers, i was all "YIPPIE SUPERNATURAL ELEMENT!!" then it was dashed to hell...
avoid please save yourself MAYBE watch it if your friend netflix's it
The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
Denzel = Damn good. Manchurian Remake = Mehhhhhh
i just got back from seeing this. so the movie is fresh in my mind. I enjoy many of the remakes that Hollywood has been doing nowadays. i didn't see starsky & hutch because i was never a fan of the tvshow... so i wont talk about it. the Ocean's 11 remake, i believe surpassed the original, with flying colors- manchurian candidate's remake, not so much. now i know that tina sinatra would not have greenlighted a movie that frank would not have liked, but the movie was too hyped. "you wont be able to exhale for the last thirty minutes."
this movie is the victim of overhyping. Baaaad marketing department... Bad!
man on fire was practically unheard of, but that was a damn good movie.
i just wasn't satisfied with M.C. it could have been better.
