Normally I don't do reviews, but in this case I felt obliged to, as all of the earlier reviews seemed biased. Many people seem to like the artsy-fartsy black/white movie stuff, perhaps even more so in the avant-garde horror genre – I'm definitely not one of them, though. For me, this was nothing more than 76 minutes of "Yeah, that's already been done – in color!" and a quite dull experience. It didn't grab my attention anywhere close to what A Serbian Film or Martyrs did. I'm not talking just graphically here, either – I'm talking about the whole feel of the movie, including the music and the storyline. In all honesty, it wasn't even much of a story to begin with. It's just boring all the way from start to end. I'm aware that most other reviews praise The Bunny Game for "taking it to the next level" and being a 10/10 kind of ground- breaking movie, but I honestly just can't understand why and none of the reviews have even bothered trying to explain their reasoning behind such statements, except maybe the fact that the torture and humiliation in this movie is supposed to be real (which I can't and won't even try to deny) but that does not automatically make it a good film – it just makes it closer to being a snuff film. We're heading there...

Don't believe the hype!

I checked this movie out for the same reasons as most others, I would presume. I wanted to see what has been hyped as "some of the nastiest sh*t out there." But sadly I was once again disappointed, as I have been many times before when that line has been used to describe a horror/gore/splatter film. The storyline is nothing more than a reporter following up a tape with snuff on it and gets too close to the people involved for her own good. I was expecting a lot of gore, blood and guts in this one, but there was definitely not as much as the hype had led me to believe. As most Japanese produced films of this kind, this one has gone through pixel censorship, meaning it doesn't show all the really nasty stuff which is really why you'd like to see this film in the first place. (If you're one of the very few people who would like to see it simply because of the storyline, I'd suggest you save your money for something better.) If you're not used to this type of extreme film, I bet this could be "the nastiest sh*t". But if you, like me, have seen quite a lot in the genre, this film really isn't any special in terms of "extremeness". For the fans of this type of films, I'd highly recommend Men Behind The Sun, Audition and/or Ichi the Killer instead!

Like so many other kids my age (being 22 now) I saw this one and I also got my first BMX shortly after that! I have been looking everywhere for this one, but just couldn't find it until recently when I imported it from USA in a DVD-edition - however, it looks like an illegal copy since the cover had been copied (in color, though) and the picture on the disc was a sticker, the sound was really low (maybe it had something to do with the fact that it had been converted directly to DVD from VHS?), it had no extra-material and the menu looked like someone had done it on a PC and then burned it... Anyway, the film was just as Rad as I remembered it from my young days! All the classic scenes like the paper boy, motorcycle cop chase, BMX-dance and the Hell Track race were there and together with the (almost cheesy) 1980's-soundtrack they sent shivers down my spine. So if you haven't seen this one, then see it - if you HAVE seen it, then see it again! Money well spent I can assure you.
