The Cabin in the Woods (2012)
'Wrong Turn' - Rewritten
For the starters, there's nothing new in the movie. This may seem contrary to many critics and movie fans but its the naked truth. It has the same thing again and again. More gore, more violence and more cheap thrills. I waited throughout the movie to see what's new in it but failed miserably. The only good thing happened for it was Fran Kranz performance. He steals the show with his dialog delivery and funny accent. Others are as dumb as Asses.
The story starts with a trip to the woods with five friends that ended horribly in the end. There's a Petrol Station run by a zombie like creature (as in Wrong Turn) who talks cheap. Hey ! but here they don't take a wrong turn instead they go by their plan.
The Cabin is controlled by an underground laboratory which is full of creeps and freaks. No, the freaks don't control the cabin just for fun. In fact, it is later revealed to be a part of some creepy ritual. I simply cannot swallow the whole logic here.
And everybody dies in the end. The End.
Note: If you want to watch a Grade C+ movie, its great. Don't expect anything unusual or horror in it. You may even want to laugh at several occasions.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
An Editing Disaster
It all started in 2002 with the 'Spiderman'. The movie was very well received by the viewers and the critics. But, then came 'Spiderman 2' a more funnier sequel to the first. We then expected that third will suffice to our expectations. Unfortunately, that never happened. At that moment I realized that there was a need for a reboot with a better way of story telling. However, guys at Sony Pictures realized it much later and that too when they fear losing the franchise.
Marc Webb, aptly chosen name for the new franchise then came into existence. He promised us with the trailers that something 'untold' will be served. So, I went up straight to the theater to see what was 'untold'. Well, the way I see there's nothing new in it. But I hope that loose strings will get attached in 2014. The direction is below par especially if you have liked '500 Days of Summer' earlier. The pacing of the scenes are very fast. There's hardly a time given when you realize that 'Oh! Peter Parker is now a Spiderman. But that's natural if you know and often watch a documentary. But wait this ain't a documentary.
As a movie its still not amazing for me but from a comic book adaption, it does its job well. The way we have read and adored Peter Parker is all natural in this movie. The quick and witty jokes are adequately placed in the scenes. For me, this would be the actual adaptation of the character 'Peter Parker' up till now. But the 'Spiderman' is still to be explored.
Now, I personally don't need a reboot in 2022 and would rather expect a more mature direction from Webb in 2014. As a Nolan's fan, I hope this expectation is natural.
For the note I would request all viewers to wait up till the movie credits end, you may get an idea for the loose strings that I mentioned earlier. And if you want anything close to the word 'Amazing', it has to be 3D.
