Later on , a madman sat on the throne of Northern India , King Saraj Ud Dowlah , Clive offered him a proposition ; Saraj Dowlah's answer : ¨The Black hole of calcutta¨. Waiting for Jaffar , Clive launched a sudden attack and before Suraj had time to counter , Clive had scattered the native army along India , but Suraj carried aout a counter-attack by elephants .
This is a jingoist biopic , partially based on historical events , set In the mid-1700's when the East India Company had power over commerce on the sub-continent, with the blessings of the British government . It is a patriotic biographic movie about Colonel Robert Clive , but being more a romantic melodrama than a biopic or a historical film . It was panned by reviewers for giving an apology , being an ¨ode¨ to colonialism and British Imperialism . Nice acting by Ronald Colman as a tough man who at the beginning frustrated by his lack of advancement in his life , he then transfers to the military arm of the company, where he excels .His couple is one of the best stars of 20th Century Fox Film, the beautiful Loretta Young . Support cast is frankly excellent , plenty of notorious secondaries as C. Aubrey Smith as Prime Minister , Colin Clive , Francis Lister ,Cesar Romero , Montagu Love and Leo G. Carroll . And uncredited , John Carradine and Don Ameche as Prisoner .
Rousing and evocative musical score by the classy composer Alfred Newman . Atmospheric and adequate cinematography in black and white by J. Peverell Marley . Impressive and breathtaking production design by Richard Day . The motion picture lavishly produced by Daryl F Zanuck , was professionally made by Director Richard Boleslawski . Richard was a prestigious filmmaker by making several important films at major studios like MGM and Fox before his premature death in January 1937. Among his most important directing assignments were Rasputin and the Empress (1932) (the only film in which John Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore and Ethel Barrymore appeared together), Men in White (1934) (Clark Gable and Myrna Loy), The painted veil (1934) (Greta Garbo), Les Misérables (1935) (Fredric March and Charles Laughton) and Theodora Goes Wild (1936) (with Irene Dunne) and a wide range of genres. He even directed a musical, Metropolitan (1935) (Lawrence Tibbett) and a western, 3 Godfathers (1936) (Chester Morris). His best film was his penultimate one , Garden of Alah (1936) (with Marlene Dietrich), the exteriors of which were shot in the burning heat of the southwestern American desert , until his early death at 48 .
Perfectos desconocidos (2017)
A good remake to an Italian film, being an absorbing and intriguing melodrama full of twists and turns
On a warm summer evening and about an eclipse , a loving couple, a plastic surgeon (Eduard Fernández) and Eva (Belen Rueda) , a therapist is expecting his long-lasting friends to share a pleasant evening over dinner at their luxurious apartment . They have a 16-year-old daughter Sofía (Beatriz Olivares ) whose relationship with Eva is under strain . Everything is in order: the first course is ready, the roast is in the oven and the table is set. Without a doubt, this is going to be a gathering of true friends and the waiting comes to an end when the first couple arrives. The bell rings and it is Antonio (Ernesto Alterio in real life married to Juana Acosta) , Ana (Juana Acosta) , the newly-wed Eduardo (Eduardo Noriega) and Blanca (Dafne Fernández ) . And followed subsequently the only one missing who is Pepe (Pepón Nieto ) , their friend who is still single . Pepe doesn't bring his new girlfriend with him, which is to the discontent of the rest, since none of them have been met her yet, and there is always a reason behind.
Before long, the group is complete and without any delay, they begin the feast. Surely, this is a nice but somewhat usual dinner, when suddenly someone makes a proposition : to place their mobile phones on the table and like a Russian roulette, whatever arrives (texts, WhatsApp messages, calls) they would share it with the others. Clearly, this uncommon truth or dare game has no point among friends who share everything with each other, nevertheless, when the phones start ringing, who will be the one with the sweatiest palms?
The story takes place in Madrid , present day , altogether restricted in one night , among seven tight-knitted friends, three couples and a recent divorcé , Pepe , during a dinner party hosted by Alfonso , magnificently played by Eduard Fernández , as a cosmetic surgeon , and his beloved wife , splendidly performed by Belén Rueda , and dealing with a twisted game , as whoever receives a phone-call, a message whether it is a text message will have to read or hear it . De la Iglesia's bewildering comedy ¨Perfectos desconocidos¨ blends intriguing elements with humor , tongue-in-cheek and thrills ; so, the tone of the film is light-hearted as well as stirring . The film starts at a slow pace, and it took a while to catch me , when it did it was fantastic . Very amusing and twisted film concerning about seven long-time friends get together for a dinner , then they decide to share with each other the content of every text message, email and phone call they receive, as many secrets start to unveil , the equilibrium trembles and things go wrong .The brilliant beginning idea is developed in a marvelous crescendo that turns into rapidly the situation from a nice dinner with old friends into a bloody battleground that reveals the surprising secrets . As well as the darkest secrets are disclosed to all of them and then awry consequences take place , some are cunningly revealed only to the eyes of spectators . A wonderful and talented plethora of actors, the mainstays of current Spanish cinema, implements a totally suspenseful melodrama interspersed with twists , turns , top-shelf comedic flair and naturalistic theatrics . It also contains a final twist in the screenplay that I will not reveal . It's well acted and smartly written. The movie is both funny and dramatic and so is the bitter-sweet ending .
It packs an adequate and moving musical score by Víctor Reyes . And a colorful and appropriate cinematography by Ángel Amorós . The motion picture was masterfully written (along with his usual screenwriter Jorge Guerricaechevarría) and directed by De La Iglesia , well known as the Spanish king of black comedy . He's a cool director has got much success as ¨Accion Mutante¨ ,¨Dying of laughter¨ or ¨Muertos De Risa¨ , ¨Baby's room¨ , ¨Oxford murders¨ , ¨Balada Triste De Una Trompeta¨ and ¨Perdita Durango¨ is probably the weirdest Javier Bardem film ever made . And , of course , ¨Day of the beast¨ and ¨La Comunidad¨ obtained the unanimous praise of both the critics and the public and result to be a lot of fun¨, especially for those who enjoy surrealist humor , they won several Goya prizes and and resulted to be a turning point in his meteoric career ; from then on he became his own producer, beginning with '800 bullets' (2002) through the Pánico Films company . Winner of several Goyas (Spanish Oscars), however his movies have not yet reached box office in USA, but he has strong followers , as his films have a kind of comic edge to them . Nonsense, ridicule , laughters , absurdity , disturbing scenes and many other issues ; you can find everything in this flick . ¨Perfectos desconocidos¨ captures the essence of the best Alex De La Iglesia, a filmmaker who, at this point in his own story, is respected and admired worldwide and has the most committed fans in the film universe . This is without a doubt an enjoyable movie to be enjoyed for comedy buffs and Alex De Iglesia fans .

Fantasy , action martial arts : Judo , including expert stunts as Biao Yuen , Mars , Tony Leung and Jackie Chan himself. It is and light , plain and action comedy that joins again The 3 Superman against nasty enemies . Noisy action, Hong kong chop-socky movie including the regular ingredients as shootouts , fights with bounds and leaps , and lot of humor with tongue in cheek .There are several brawls and fighting , including punches , slaps and Kickass , but with no blood , neither violence , but hilarious confrontation. The flick contains silly incidents , fun plot twists , tongue-in-cheek , grotesque situations and above all , it especially contains catching touches of humor and irony . This film belongs to a series as : ¨3 supermen del West¨ by Italo Martinenghi , ¨3 Supermen Against Godfather¨ by Italo Martinenghi , ¨Three Supermen in the Jungle¨ by Bitto Albertini , and others mostly produced and directed by Bitto Albertini and as secondary appears Sal Borgese as a likeable deaf-mute who usually imitates to Harpo Marx .
The motion picture was well produced by the famous producers ¨Shaw Brothers¨from Hong Kong and regularly directed by Bitto Albertini . Fulano y Mengano (1957)
Charming and sympathetic black comedy dealing with two unfortunate friends and their distressed and sad adventures
Attractive and fun retelling based on the Spanish ¨Picaros¨ o ¨rogues¨ , Eudosio and Carlos. The adventures of two derelicts magnificently played by José Isbert and Juanjo Menéndez , two travelling comedians . They are in prison as inmates and subsequently , they succeed to become good friends . They leave the penitentiary and start to drift all around Segovia and Madrid to sell ties . Thus begin the travels of a pair of roguish friends , as they slowly starve together , and learn to live by their wits , and shrewdness . It tells the first person adventures of two derelicts , street urchins who decide to steal to stay alive and it thus ultimately both recount feats and moralizing on those poor people . Cruel necessity causes the canny Eudosio and Carlos to leave and to move on to yet other unscrupulous patrons and more petty crime in the shadow of the always threatening Police . They use their cunning while serving other swindlers as well as several other masters , and also learning to practice all kinds of tricks and traps . They stay at a home which is a whole building in ruins, without any closed window and with the walls that are barely standing . There they meet Esperanza , Julita Martínez, who will attempt to turn that space into a happy home .
This film gives a vivid , al times sad, and jolly description of the world of the pauper and the petty thieves . It describes the adventures of a pair of Picaros , exposing injustices who usually suffer while amusing the viewer . The impoverished threadbare but proud as well as botcher thieves desperately try to appear eligible and arrogant , but whose pretensions are cruelly mocked by other townsfolk . His travails afford opportunities for much biting social and satire sharply observed along the way . Nice film indirectly based on classic novels , as a picaresque novel written by Mateo Alemán and anonymous Lazarillo Tormes ; dealing with fun and funny adventures of two derelicts , it features amusing events , adequate cinematography and good settings . As the tumbledown scenario of the Spanish landscape is established as a fitting background to the events which transpire . Pretty good but free adaptation about two vintage novels that is credited with founding a literary genre , the ¨Picaresque novel¨ , from the Spanish world ¨Picaro¨ , meaning rogue or rascal . Very good acting from José Isbert and Juanjo Menendez as two shrewed thieves accused unjustly, that prevents them from getting a job when they go free and they suffer extreme famine because of the lack of food and design a lot of strategies to get aliments . Both of whom intend to explain that they were locked up for no reason, nobody will listen to them. Along with Julita Martínez as the young Esperanza who tries to help them working at home with enthusiasm. The picture is plenty of notorious Spaniard secondaries as Xan Das Bolas , Emilio Rodríguez , Manuel Arbó Rafael Bardem , Manuel Alexandre , Rufino Inglés , Manuel Requena , Antonio Molina , Aníbal Vela , Angel Alvarez , among others .
This movie displays an appropriate photography by Ricardo Torres and being masterfully shot on atmospheric location in Segovia and Madrid . The motion picture was well directed and in traditional style by Joaquin Luis Romero Marchent (1921-2012) , giving some delightfully realized sequences and being considered a Cult movie and direction assistant results to be Jesús Franco . It was made in 1955 , but premiered in 1958 and being a boxoffice flop . Joaquin's direction is compellingly crafted , here he's more cynical and humorous and less inclined toward violence . Marchent is an expert writer and director of good Western . Marchent films would set a new bold standard for on-screen Almeria Westerns and establish him as one of the most influential Spanish directors of the Paella/Spaghetti sub-genre and quickly became the more prolific filmmakers in the genre . His first film was ¨El Coyote¨ and the sequel titled ¨Revenge of Coyote¨ shot in Mexico . After that , he filmed ¨The shadow of Zorro¨ and ¨Revenge of Zorro¨. He went go directing Western as ¨ Riding to death ¨ , ¨Adventures in the West¨ , ¨Three good men¨, ¨Sabor Venganza ¨ , ¨Fedra West¨ and the most popular and violent ¨Condenados a Vivir¨ . Plus , he wrote for his brother Rafael Romero Marchent the following Westerns : ¨Manos Torpes¨, ¨Ocaso Un Pistolero¨ and ¨Garringo¨ and his greatest hit was "Cut-Throats Nine" or ¨Condenados a Vivir¨ that brought an entirely new level of stylization with the genre , this ultra-violent masterpiece not only signaled a move toward an even grittier and more nihilistic brand of Western . This ¨El Aventurero De Guaynas¨ (1966) or ¨The Adventurer of Iguana" (English title) or "The Tough One" (International title) is a riotous adventure spoof in which there's too much silly action , amusing comedy and enough excitement . Rating : 7 , Good , it has a lot of entertaining moments .
Flores negras (2009)
Passable spy movie , being a Spanish/German co-production with big name cast giving out-standing interpretations
Acceptable but average spy film about the Cold War and about what happened after the sudden fall of Berlin Wall , 1989 , including , crosses , doublé-crosses , twists , turns and confused script . It deals with a uncanny and astute spy , Michael (Tobias Moretti) who leaves his job as a spy after failing a mission and takes with him Helena , the daughter of a Russian spy (Marta Etura in doublé role) who dies under strange circumstances . Both of whom along with another spy called Peter (Eduard Fernández) leave their past behind and move to Barcelona and open a small restaurant . But the old colleagues attempt to retrieve at whatever cost a mysterious list that contains engaging information and some top-secret names , then thing go wrong .
The film has suspense , tension , emotion , mystery and specially in its final a little bit of violence . The flick is part suspense, part thriller , far better than any James Bond flick and next to the Spy Who Came in from the Cold. The plot is intricate with many twists , in which an escaped agent is pursued by his former colleagues who reappear with unfinished business and the excellent cast exploit for maximum impact. It keeps moving with twists to keep the viewer on his/her seat edge wondering who is who and who can be trusted. Although the picture has various ingredients for entertainment , the screenplay is confused and complex , the plot has gaps and results to be sometimes embarrassing . This movie is slow and hard to follow , but it has its moments here and there . The film belongs to spy sub-genre developed during the cold war and its maxim representation are John LeCarre's novels adapted to cinema in various films such as: ¨The spy who came in from the cold¨ (by Martin Ritt with Richard Burton), ¨Deadly Affair¨(Sidney Lumet with Maximilian Schell) , ¨Russia House¨ (Fred Schepisi with Sean Connery) and others as¨The Kremlin letter ¨(John Huston) .
The film profits itself from a great cast , including international actors . The star studded casting is important with known players as Tobias Moretti Maria Grazia Cucinotta ,Marta Etura , Héctor Colomé , Belén Fabra , Pep Tosar and Gottfried John . Special mention for Eduard Fernández , considered to be one of the best Spanish actors . And the veteran Maximilian Schell in one of his last films . The motion picture was profesional but slowly directed by David Carreras who formerly made ¨Hipnos¨ and he has directed various TV episodes as R.I.S. Científica (TV Series) , El Comisario, Hospital Central , and he , nowsaday , is directing films in Germany

It contains an intriguing premise to investigate and to discover a murderer , including red herrings , and results to be moderately entertaining , though drags at times , balancing in ups and downs . So-so Chorizo-Spaghetti Western mostly produced by Spain and important Italian participation , being middlingly shot but with no originality ; and being proceeded in American style more than Spaghetti . Acceptable action sequences with rousing crossfire , and spectacular shootouts with no much sense . Charismatic , but regular , performance for the whole casting . It stars an unknown Luigi Giuliani who gives an average interpretation . Agreeable appearences of two beauties as Germana Monteverdi and Marta Padovan . And other movies in which Madrid proved his limited skills and without overly relevant in his curriculum title, throughout his career he showed a sense of adaptation by time he lived .

La regenta (1995)
Adequate rendition based on the a realist novel by Spanish author Leopoldo Alas y Ureña , magnificently played and very good directed
Adapted from the novel of the same name by Clarín, which narrates the difficulties of Ana Ozores (Aitiana Sánchez Gijon) to adapt to the sordidness of life in Vetusta, a provincial city of northern Spain inspired in Oviedo. Ana married the former prime magistrate of the city, Víctor Quintanar, a kind but fussy man much older than her . The young Ana, married to the retired regent (Hector Alterio) , lives oppressed by the provincial hypocrisy and the mystical fears of an absorbing religion. Sexually dissatisfied, beset by constant erotic dreams, she reveals in her confessional her intimate torments, and to complete the circle, D. Fermín de Pas, her confessor (Carmélo Gomez) begins to feel a morbid passion for her. At the same time, feeling sentimentally abandoned Ana falls for Álvaro Mesía (Juán Luis Galiardo) , a Don Juan, who intends to seduce Ana.
Top-drawer retelling based on La Regenta , it is a realist novel by Spanish author Leopoldo Alas y Ureña (1852-1901) , also known as Clarín, published in 1884 and 1885 with high-class , middle-class and priests as protagonists , these forces find in extreme tension, as the Asturian writer narrates a cruel story of Spanish provincial life in the days of the Restoration .The flick is vey well set in Oviedo (there is even a Statue dedicated to La Regenta in Oviedo) : Vetusta , "Vetusto" in Spanish stands for "antiquated", "extremely old", a provincial capital city, very identifiable with Oviedo, capital of Asturias - especially since it is said that two monks, Nolan and John, founded the city, this being Oviedo's mythical genesis. On the other hand the film uses the city of Vetusta as a symbol of vulgarity, lack of culture and hypocrisy. There lives the main character of the work, Ana Ozores "La Regenta" , being excellently played by Aitiana Sanchez Gijón who lets herself be courted by the province casanova, Álvaro Mesía magnetically performed by Juan Luis Galiardo .Ana incarnates the tortured ideal that perishes progressively before a hypocritical society. Carmelo Gomez is top-notch as Fermin , Ana's confessor and canon in the cathedral of Vetusta who also falls in love with her and becomes Mesía's unmentionable rival. These great actors are completed by a great panorama of secondary characters, well portrayed by the filmmaker with merciless irony, completes the human landscape of the film , such as :Miguel Rellán , Amparo Rivelles , Fiorella Faltoyano , Cristina Marcos , María Luisa Ponte ,Manuel Alexandre , Juan José Otegui , Virginia Mataix , Luis Barbero , Conrado San Martín , Tote Garcia Ortega , Francisco Vidal , Francisco Merino , and José María Caffarel , among others .
It packs a colorful as well as evocative cinematography . Sensitive and emotive musical score by Bingen Mendizabal . This is a slightly funny flick with amusing as well as embarrassing situations, giggles , emotions and a love story between Damian Bichir and Ana Claudia Talancon . The highlight of the movie results to be the Spectacular and moving final sporting confrontation at a Mexican stadium . It stars the likeable child Oscar Casas who provides a nice acting in spite of his short age. Damian Bichir plays a stiff coach who must teach the rebel children to play well against an adult team.Antonio Resines plays a grandfather who advises and helps Ivan in his aims. Special mention to Ernesto Alterio and Fernando Tejero as two outlandish roles , playing a pair of Tv presenters, parodying the excessive radio anchors.

Attractive and enjoyable rendition based on Agatha Christie novel with Miss Marple investigating a strange murder
The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side is an entertaining and suspenseful murder crime movie . Beautiful and veteran film star Marina Gregg (Lindsay Crouse , and in the classic cinematic version played by Elizabeth Taylor) and her young husband move to St. Mary Mead, but their arrival becomes clouded in tragedy . Being last lead starring role in a cinema movie for this actress and directed by his husband , she is attempting to make a comeback to play Nefertiti , after being off-screen for many years due to an emotional breakdown and substance abuse. She is supported by her fifth husband and director of the movie, Jason Rudd ( Nigel Harman , priorly performed by Rock Hudson) . They rent a manor house in St. Mary Mead to Dolly (Joanna Lummley) , Miss Marple's best friend ; and host a reception for the villagers . Then, there appears
her former husband and his new wife and things go wrong . At the reception for the fading film star making a screen comeback , a gushing, pushy fan is poisoned by a drink apparently meant for the actress . There she met Gregg briefly before her breakdown and being poisoned by a drink apparently meant for the film star . Because of Gregg's celebrity status, Police Superintendent assigns one of his most skilled and discreet investigators, Inspector Hewitt (Hugh Bonneville , prepiously performed by Edward Fox) who is helped by
Miss Marple (Julia McKenzie) . Together they set about investigating the murder , death threats and jealousy associated with the case .
The plot is plain and simple : A troubled Hollywood star celebrates a party when a fan is fatally poisoned during the garden fête, as Miss Marple to investigate it ; Who is the killer ? . This movie was made and released about fifty years after Agatha Christie's source novel of the same name was first published in 1962. The film is a detective story in which you are the detective . In the picture there is mystery , emotion , suspense , actors's interpretations are acceptable and including wonderful outdoors . The support cast is pretty good such as Joanna Lumley , Hugh Bonneville , Michele Dotrice , Charlotte Riley , Will Young and special mention for Linsay Duncan as the veteran and bittered actress . The movie gets a lush costume design by Sheena Napier and adequate production design by Jeff Tessler . Colorful and sunny cinematography by Cinders Forshaw . This Miss Marple episode was efficiently directed by Tom Shankland .
Miss Marple was firsly played by Margaret Rutherford who had made the role famous during the 1960s. Following Angela Lansbury with the film Crack Mirror (1980) by Guy Hamilton became the second actress to play Miss Marple on the big screen, after Lansbury was the fourth if one counts TV where Gracie Fields and Inge Langen also played Marple. Subsequently in TV was starred by Joan Hickson who played a successful series . And finally Agatha Christie's Marple series starred by Geraldine McEwan and Julia McKenzie as Miss Marple . This Tv movie had a former and known rendition directed by Guy Hamilton in 1980 with all-star-cast as Elizabeth Taylor , Kim Novak , Rock Hudson , Edward Fox , among others . Rating : Decent and acceptable , well worth watching . The flick will appeal to suspense lovers and Agatha Christie novels buffs .
Luz de domingo (2007)
Very good melodrama , well played , magnificently photographed and competently directed by José Luis Garci
Sensational rendition with extraordinary performances and luxurious scenarios from Asturias . Including an extreme clash of wills and feelings among the obstinate protagonists . Set in a small village in Asturias called "Cencielles" , at the beginning of the twentieth century . There arrives "Urbano" (Alex Gonzalez), who is a good as well as idealistic person to work as a secretary of the Town Hall . After that , he falls in love for Estrella" (Paula Echevarria) , Joaco's (Alfredo Landa) granddaughter , and and he decides to marry her . But the neutrality of "Urbano" before one of the political groups called ¨Los Becerriles¨ led by the nasty Mayor (Vicente Parra) in the Town Hall, originites vengeance and enmity . Shortly after , there takes place a bitter war between two political party's degenerates a tragedy for the couple Urbano and Estrella .
This is an intelligent and thought-provoking drama filmed with great sensitivity and feeling. It's an intelligent and touching story although sometimes is slow moving and tiring but is finely developed with sense of style and sensibility . In the picture are treated ethic and moral themes developed with great sense of fairness and ductility . A rural tragedy in a splendid scenario , dealing with an intense portrait of the rural environment of the era dominated by ¨caciques¨ or ¨Becerriles¨and powerful people against unfortunate villagers called ¨Los Chorizos¨ . Later on , the enjoyable melodrama tranforms into a strong tragedy with sudden bursts of violence , terminating into a terrible vendetta against the couple prior to his wedding . The Asturian scenario, perfectly handled by José Luis Garci in several movies is marvelous and really attractive . I love the peculiar roles of the starring couple : Alex Gonzalez and Paula Echevarria , giving charming interpretations . And other characters as the contenders played by Alfredo Landa , and Carlos Larrañaga are top-notch . Their roles seem written for themselves . As excellent acting by Alfredo Landa as the upright grandfather who will have to face the traumatic truth and choose between honor or pardon . And Vicente Parra as an embittered Mayor who uses the strongest law . Remaining support cast is frankly magnificent , such as : Kiti Mánver , Manuel Galiana , Toni Acosta , Enrique Villén , Francisco Algora ,Mapi Sagaseta and Fernando Guillén Cuervo as the doctor . Besides , exceptional and awesome cinematography by Felix Monti , as is well reflected on the marvelous outdoors of the countryside and brilliant interiors , shot on location in Asturias . Wonderful musical score by Pablo Cervantes plenty of attractive and sensitive sounds and t with haunting leitmotif . Spectacular production design by Gil Parrondo who formerly achieved two Oscars (Patton, Nicholas and Alexandra).
The motion picture was stunningly directed by Jose Luis Garci ,. It is a film by Jose Luis Garci that has achieved a big success. Garci has left a distinguished talent in his successful movies throughout the years as El Crack I, II, Volver a empezar , Solos en la madrugada , Herida Luminosa , Las verdes praderas . He won one Academy Award for ¨Volver a Empezar¨ , it was the first Spanish entry to win the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film, . After his Oscar win in 1983 for Best Foreign Language Film with Volver a empezar (1982), he received three further nominations in that category with Sesión continua (1984), Asignatura aprobada (1987) and El abuelo (1998), making him the most-nominated Spanish director in that category . Rating : Better than average and well worth seeing.
El liguero mágico (1980)
Silly horror parody by the prolific Mariano Ozores with ridiculous and absurd terrifying incidents
In this flick there is spoof , humor , fun and guffaws . An amusing but average Spanish comedy film and with its ups and downs . It deals with an unfortunate as well as botcher Notary assistant called Armando (Andres Pajares) who goes to a mansion to deal with a testament of a newly deceased lord , Don Marcelo (Antonio Ozores) . There also goes his heir Alicia Cazorla (Adriana Vega) , they are received by a misfit bunch of geeks : an old cook (Maria Isbert) , a dwarf (José Carabias) , a gay wolfman (Luis Lorenzo) , a hunk (Fernando Bilbao) , a sympathetic deaf-mute (Adriana Ozores) , and a hunchback similarly to Marty Feldman-Igor alike . All of them want to take over a hidden treasure : a lot of golden coins .
Terror movie parody with Andrés Pajares , including lots of jokes , home pursuits , intrigue , entertainment , amusement and lots of nudism . Pajares is a cool Spanish actor, who usually formed an attractive cinematic couple with Fernando Esteso . Both of whom usually playing a duo of unfortunate , roguish , swindlers as well as bungling people . They usually made couple in a lot of films and achieved much success in the 80s . And especially ¨Los Bingueros¨ was one of their greatest hits . The movies they played were funny and with many support's actors . The films were with short budget and lackluster but including comedy and lots of fun . Those contained many nude girls , laughs and slapstick , being mostly directed by Mariano Ozores , a craftsman filmmaker and writer , who wrote/directed disconcerting screenplays , he recently won a Goya Award (2016) to his long and fruitful career . The latter made with these two famous comedians , -Andres Pajares and Fernando - several films , as they had various years partnership between the two leads , such as ¨Agitese Antes Usarla¨ , ¨Al Este Del Oeste¨, ¨Los Liantes¨, ¨Los Energeticos¨, ¨La Lola Lleva Al Huerto¨ , ¨El Currante¨, ¨Que Tia la Cia¨, ¨El Hijo Del Cura¨, among others .
This ¨El liguero magico¨ is a charming as well as embarrassing horror/comedy that contains crazy events , nudism , amusement and bewilding situations . There are some nice jokes in the film and the cast , playing eccentric characters , make a cosy fit . It is a nutty Spanish comedy that offers no intellectual stimulus whatsoever , though it has some fun and hilarious moments . Humor is sometimes cheesy and gross-out with numerous naughty and picaresque situations . Support cast is pretty good , plenty of familiar faces , such as : Antonio Ozores , María Luisa Ponte , Blaki, Adriana Ozores , María Isbert , Luis Lorenzo , José Carabias , Adrián Ortega , Rafael Albaicín , and José Riesgo . Evocative cinematography by Raul Artigot , being necessary a perfect remastering , because of the film-copy is worn-out and shot in Talamanca Del Jarama , Madrid . Atmospheric and frightening musical score by Gregorio García Segura .
This ¨El liguero magico¨ financed by the great producer José Frade , is a mediocre picture with some amusing moments , being profesional but middlingly by Mariano Ozores in his usual style and had big success in the Spanish box office similarly to ¨Brujas Magicas¨ which he made in similar wake . Mariano's family origin is into show business , being son of Mariano Ozores Sr and brother of José Luis Ozores and Antonio Ozores . Furthermore , uncle of Emma Ozores and Adriana Ozores who here appears briefly as a host woman . Mariano is a craftsman filmmaker and writer , in fact he wrote the fun screenplay , he recently won a Goya Award (2016) to his long and fruitful career . The latter made with these two famous comedians , -Fernando Esteso and Andres Pajares- several films , as they had various years partnership between the two leads , such as ¨Agitese Antes Usarla¨ , ¨Al Este Del Oeste¨, ¨Los Liantes¨, ¨Los Energeticos¨, ¨La Lola Lleva Al Huerto¨ , ¨El Currante¨ , ¨El Hijo Del Cura¨...these films are filled with humor that still holds up , especially for those not easily offended ; being sometimes cheesy and gross-out with numerous naughty and picaresque situations such as sex jokes , adulteries , crazy events , nudism , absurd situations , jealousy , and erotic scenes . Plus , they partially reflected the mood and the reality of Spain in the immediate Post-Franco era , dealing with politic juncture about the post-Franquismo in similar style to other films from this period . Ozores has a prolific career , as writer and as director , especially in comedy genre such as : Disparate Nacional , Tahiti's Girl , Brujas Magicas , Los Presuntos , Cuatro Mujeres Y Un Lío , Tío ¿De Verdad Vienen De París? , Alcalde Por Elección , Ellas Los Prefieren... Locas , El Apolítico , Jenaro El De Los 14 , Manolo La Nuit , El Abuelo Tiene plan , La Llamaban La Madrina , La Graduada , Venta Por Pisos and many others . Being his ordinary actors , the followings : Alfredo Landa , Lina Morgan , Paco Martínez Soria , Antonio Ozores , Jose Luis Ozores , Juanito Navarro .
Padre nuestro (1985)
A cardinal magnificentlyplayed by Fernado Rey returns his origins to meet his lost daughter , a whore performed by Victoria Abril
Next to his death , a Vatican Cardinal (Fernando Rey) returnrs from Rome to his origin Castillian village to see his brother (Francisco Rabal) and meet his unknown daughter (Victoria Abril) who he had to the father's maid (Emma Penella) to inherit his belongings and lands . But his daughter results to be a prostitute nicknamed ¨La Cardenala¨ and things go wrong .
This is a sordid and thought-provoking story about family relations , including absurd as well as ironic elements . It has some ridiculous remarks and pieces of nonsense , but it makes up for splendid performances from a great main cast . It follows the usual genre pertaining to the literary type created by Don Ramon Maria Del Valle Inclán . Interesting and provoking script by Angel Fernandez Santos and director Francisco Regueiro himself , both of whom wrote a trilogy about parents-descendants relationships . The first was this ¨Padre Nuestro¨(1985) from a religious view point , it continues with ¨Diario De Invierno¨ based on biological relations and the third: ¨Madregilda¨ that regards a complex political plot aboutFrancisco Franco played by Juan Echanove . It packs a colorful and evocative cinematography by Juán Amoros . And atmospheric musical score by Jaime Aragal , including song by Manzanita and classic
Sonata by Schubert .
The motion picture was well directed by Francisco Regueiro. Francisco Regueiro was born in 1934 in Valladolid, Castilla y León, Spain. He is a writer and director, known for Padre nuestro (1985), Madregilda (1993) and El buen amor (1963). He belonged to New Spanish Cinema with El buen Amor¨(63) , and Amador¨(65) that was strongly censored . The great producer Elias Querejeta produced him some films as ¨Si Volvemos a Vernos¨ - Smashing up- and ¨Carta de amor de un asesino¨.After that , he made documentary , televisión drama as ¨Cuentos y Leyendas : La niña que se convirtió en rata¨. later on , he made the flop ¨Me envenenó de azules¨. Shortly after , producer José Frade financed him ¨Duerme , duerme mi amor¨and ¨Las Bodas de Blanca¨, but both of them failed at the boxoffice . Then , he leaves the filmmaking for painting during 10 years . Although , thanks to Law Pilar Miro returs direction with this trilogy .
Tensión sexual no resuelta (2010)
Brainless and corny romantic comedy full of humor , bad taste , profanities and fun
Hilarious Spanish comedy with several young famous actors ; however , it also contains bad taste , nudism , piggy humor , abound sexual remarks , profanity and grossed themes . A few of the scenes are amusing , they elicit chuckles but no very enjoyable laughs . It concerns about Jazz (Norma Ruíz) is a successful bestselling writer who meets Celeste (Salomé Jiménez ) and both of whom make love . But Celeste is engaged to Juanjo (Fele Martínez) and this one is left by her . Believing he has been manipulated , he finds out the trick , and then recruits his smooth talking student, Nico (Adam Jezierski) , to help win her back in exchange for a good grade . Later on , Celeste has fallen for a bouncing Hard-Rock Singer , Nardo (Miguel Ángel Muñoz ) , with masochist tendencies . If that weren't enough Rebecca (Amaia Salamanca) , wants her teacher all for herself and will do whatever she can to ruin their schemes of getting him back together with Celeste . What ensues is a lot of mayhem , twisted situations , betrayals and vengeances .
This is a fast insane movie with lots of fun incidents , antics , bemusement and with a bunch of very hilarious roles ; dealing with seemingly simple loving plans that start getting tricky . This is another Spanish comedy romp , it is a bemusing story that contains humor , entertainment , funny happenings and involving a bunch of young people who carry out a lot of frolics , do mischief , vandalism and acts of hooliganism to get their purports . The film moves in fits and starts most of which would be desirable , with more traps the viewer resists any kind , and some moments of enjoyment and others quite a few ridiculous . The picture regards a convoluted game of scheming , sexual tension , confussion , traps and lies.
Humor is sometimes cheesy and gross-out with numerous naughty and picaresque situations such as sex jokes , bad taste , threesome and adult scenes . This is a typical Spanish comedy from the 2000s similarly to "Three Many Weddings" or ¨3 Bodas De Más¨ by Javier Ruiz Caldera , and ¨Fuga de cerebros I and II¨ by Fernando González Molina . It stars Fele Martínez as a college professor who just got dumped by his girlfriend, Celeste : Salome Jimenez ; Amaia Salamanca as one of Juanjo's students who also happens to be Nico's crush ; and Norma Ruiz as Jazz , as a sexy, manipulative female author .The yarn packs some cameos of famous people , familiar faces such as Pepe Navarro as TV presenter , Joaquín Reyes , Adam Jezierski , and , of course , Santiago Segura at a special appearance as a likeable and cunning hacker .
It is a silly film with entertaining events , giggles , craziness , turns and twisted love stories . There are some funning scenes but tey are padded by so much extraneously and strenuously narrative confusion . There are some nice jokes in the film and the cast makes a cosy fit , but also contains a lot of flaws and gaps . This is an nice and crazy comedy starred by a varied group of young actors ; it packs amusement , slapstick , comical situations , tongue-in-cheek , surrealist comedy including conventional pitfalls and many other things . Actually, results to be patently unfunny , there are some "funny" stuff but even this stuff that works almost fails . ¨Tension sexual no resulta¨ is not a film worth watching and, in turn, is not really amusing . The motion picture was regularly directed by Miguel Angel La Mata who firstly shot : Una De Zombies ; and after : Tensión Sexual no Resuelta and Isi & Disi, Alto Voltaje and Nuestros Amantes . Neither the filmmaker nor his screen-writer have a solid grasp of either filmmaking nor scriptwriting , which are two fatal mangles to have if one wants to attempt a sympathetic budget . Rating : Average : 4/10 .
La hoz y el Martínez (1985)
Spy movie parody with Andrés Pajares , including lots of jokes , pursuits , intrigue , entertainment and amusement
Funny and silly comedy about a sympathetic rogue man , a plumber well played by Pajares in his usual hilarious style , professionally directed by the writer/producer/director Alvaro Sáenz De Heredia and it achieved success at Spanish box office . Bemusing story with embarrassing moments and fun acting by a likable comedian : Andrés Pajares . Set in the last years of the cold war between the United States and Russia around the signing of a treaty on nuclear disarmament . It deals with an unlucky plumber who carries out their bunglering jobs , when he meets a stranger spy , Anna Petrovna Borodina (Silvia Tortosa) and then , he suddenly becomes involved into a twisted international intrigue , replacing a known pacificier (Andres Pajares himself in a double role) who has been wound with unexpected consequences . To flee his enemies Juán uses thousands of tricks and fakes .
But things go wrong when there appears some traitors and double-agents .
In this flick there is humor , fun and guffaws . An amusing but average Spanish comedy film and with its ups and downs . It deals with an unfortunate as well as botcher plumber called Juan Martinez , Andrés Pajares, a Spanish plumber ; this hard-working worker finds himself involved in a web of international intrigues .Pajares is a cool Spanish actor, who usually formed an attractive cinematic couple with Fernando Esteso . Both of whom usually playing a duo of unfortunate , roguish , swindlers as well as bungling people . They usually made couple in a lot of films and achieved much success in the 80s . This ¨La Hoz y el Marrtinez¨ is a charming as well as embarrassing comedy that contains crazy events , nudism , amusement and absurd situations . There are some nice jokes in the film and the cast , playing eccentric characters , make a cosy fit . It is a nutty Spanish comedy that offers no intellectual stimulus whatsoever , though it has some fun and hilarious moments . Humor is sometimes cheesy and gross-out with numerous naughty and picaresque situations , as well as some action scenes ; including car chases and crashes by the expert stunt -driver Alain Petit . The film attempts to give laughs and it works here and there , resulting in an amusing though middling film . My feelings are extremely mixed but I must admit there are some brief and no very enjoyable laughters ; however , it also packs uneven comedy , simple humor , and some political themes . ¨La Hoz y el Martinez¨ partially reflects the mood and the reality of Spain and Europe in the Cold War era , dealing with politic juncture about the hard relations between URSS and USA in similar style to other films from this period . It gives a silly but ironical Spain and Madrid outlook and containing some political remarks . Supporting cast is plenty of familiar faces such as : Gérard Tichy , Jack Taylor , Javier Loyola , José Lifante , Rafael Hernández , José Yepes , Emilio Fornet , Adriano Domínguez and many others
¨La Hoz y el Martinez¨ is a mediocre picture with some amusing moments , being profesional but middlingly directed by Alvaro Saenz de Heredia in his usual style and had much success in the Spanish box office . Saenz Heredia directed decent films and many actors and technicians worked and ate thanks to the huge success of his films . Heredia directed various vehicles for popular comedians as Chiquito De La Calzada , Bigote Arrocet : ¨Condemor¨ , followed by ¨Bracula¨, ¨Papa Piquillo¨ ; Emilio Aragon : ¨Policia¨ , ¨Freddy , El Crupier¨ ; Andres Pajares : ¨Hoz Y El Martínez¨ ; Javier Gurruchaga : ¨R2 Caso Cadaver Sin Cabeza¨ ; and Martes Y Trece : ¨Aqui Huele a Muerto¨ , ¨El Robo De La Joyoya¨ . Alvaro is an specialist on comedies , as he has proved in : 2010 Venganza Ira Vamp , 2005 R2 Caso Cadaver Sin Cabeza , 2002 Esta Noche no , 2001 Corazón De Bombón , 1998 Pápa Piquillo , 1997 Brácula Condemor II , 1996 Aquí Llega Condemor, El Pecador De Pradera , 1994 Una Chica Entre Un Millón , 1992 Chechu y Familia . This raucous spy spoof is an Andrés Pajares vehicle , if you like his crazy, maniac performances , you'll enjoy this one
Atractive and agreeable biopic about Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola or Marcelino de Sautuola who dicovered the famous caves
Marcelino de Sautuola (Antonio Banderas) was a Spanish jurist and amateur archaeologist who owned the land where the Altamira cave was found . As his daughter Maria (as little girl : Allegra Allen and grown-up : Irene Escolar) , nine years old at the time, incidentally noticed that the ceiling was covered by images of bisons . Sautuola then started exploring the caves in 1875. He did not become aware of the paintings, however, until 1879, when Sautuola, having seen similar images engraved on Paleolithic objects displayed at the World Exposition in Paris the year before, rightly assumed that the paintings might also date from the Stone Age. Attempting to expose their discovery to the academic world for that they study the paintings , but he failed . Looking for the truth, Sautuola was the rest of his life fighting to prove that those paintings were real, attempting to restore his innocence from the accusations of falsehood launched against him by scientists , historians , geographers and priests (Rupert Everett) . As Marcelino , his wife Conchita (Golshifteh Farahani) and daugther (later she married into the Botín family of Cantabrian bourgeoisie, the current owners of Banco Santander are Sautuola's descendants) suffering distresses and unfortunes trying to demonstrate the reality of the fabulous paintings .The Altamira cave, now famous for its unique collection of prehistoric art, was well known to local people, but had not been given much attention until in 1868, when it was "discovered" .
Biography about existence and happenings of the man who realized one of the most important discoveries of the 19th : Altamira , Pateolithic paintings . As Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola y de la Pedrueca, in 1868, accidentally discovered Paleolithic paintings with the help of a hunter named Modesto Cubillas inside Altamira's caves, located in Cantabria, north to Spain . The flick concerns about confrontation between science and religion ; and between rationalism and faith . As Sautuola was panned and accused the paintings were made for the own Sautuola, in a effort to get richness . Dealing with his thunderous life when crashed against the skepticism and discredit of all scientists , geographers , and religious people , who claimed that the caves were false .
The picture displays an evocative and imaginative cinematography by José Luis Luis Alcaine who is deemed to be one of the best Spanish cameramen with a long and prestigious artistic career and Almodovar's ordinary cameraman , as he has photographed successes such as ¨Volver¨ , ¨The bad education¨ , ¨The skin I live in¨ , and ¨Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown¨ . He was first cinematographer to use fluorescent tube as "key" lightning in the 1970s . Jose Luis Alcaine thought a theory that the Frank Borzage movie A farewell to the arms (1932) after a story by Ernest Hemingway, was the main and total inspiration for Pablo Picasso in the creation of the "Guernica", one of the most important painting of the 20th century. He believes that several images of a sequence of 5 minutes long showing the exodus of countrymen and soldiers on an infernal rainy night was the inspiration of Pablo Picasso. Furthermore , a willingness almost perfect of the elements of each shot , every sequence , every space . Sensitive and rousing musical score by Mar Knopfler . The yarn was well directed by Hugh Hudson (Chariots of fire , Greystoke , I dreamed of Africa Irresistible, Revolution)
The picture is based on historical events about the discoverer of the Altamira paintings , these are the followings : Marcelino thanks to his daughter Maria , and the hunter Modesto discoverd the notorious caves . He therefore engaged an archaeologist from the University of Madrid to help him in his further work. Professor Juan Vilanova y Piera supported Sautuola's assumptions, and they published their results in 1880, to much public acclaim. But the scientific society was reluctant to accept the presumed antiquity of the paintings . The French specialists, led by their guru Gabriel de Mortillet, were particularly adamant in rejecting the hypothesis of Sautuola and Piera and their findings were loudly ridiculed at the 1880 Prehistorical Congress in Lisbon. Due to the supreme artistic quality, and the exceptional state of conservation of the paintings, Sautuola was even accused of forgery. A fellow countryman maintained that the paintings had been produced by a contemporary artist, on Sautuola's orders. It was not until 1902, when several other findings of prehistoric paintings had served to render the hypothesis of the extreme antiquity of the Altamira-paintings less shocking (and forgery less likely), that the scientific society retracted their opposition to the Spaniards. That year, the towering French archaeologist Émile Cartailhac, who had been one of the leading critics, emphatically admitted his mistake in the famous article, "Mea culpa d'un sceptique", published in the journal L'Anthropologie.Sautuola had died 14 years earlier, and did not live to enjoy the restitution of his honour or the later scientific confirmation of his premonitions. Modern dating techniques have since confirmed that the paintings of the Altamira cave were created over extended periods between 11,000 and 19,000 years ago. For the study of Paleolithic art Sautuola's discoveries must now be considered pivotal.
Gunfighters of Casa Grande (1964)
So-so American/Paella Western co-produced by USA and Spain and directed by a Hollywood filmmaker.
Average but with some good moments American/Tortilla Western decently co-produced and including attractive Spanish outdoors .
The movie gets Western action , shootouts , romances , thrills and results to be quite entertaining . After American Civil War , circa 1866 , a gambler Joe Daylight (Alex Nicol ) wins a Mexican cattle ranch at a game of poker, as he schemes to drive the herd across the Rio Grande to Texas, sell the cattle and leave the ranch behind . Joe joins forces his henchmen , as the drunk doctor (Dick Bentley) , the traveler (Jorge Mistral) and Kid (Steve Rowland, director's son who usually plays for his father) and enter in Mexican territory . As the group of outlaws take over frontier lands and Joe hires on local hands , but during the drive , he discovers that the plans to cheat them . Meanwhile , the ex-bandits fall in love for beautiful women (Mercedes Alonso , Diana Lorys , María Granada) . Later on , Joe , Doc and the Traveler battle nasty outlaws led by the Bandit Chief , El Rojo , (Aldo Sambrell) .
Entertaining Chorizo/US Western well produced by Sam X. Abarbanel and José G Maesso with his production Company : Tecisa , including shoot'em up , action , violence , go riding , brawls and amusement . It is a passable Western with a few of surprises , thrills and including love stories . This film , realized in American Western style and no Spaghetti , contains Western-action , gun-play , fist-play and being enough amusing but mediocre . This Spanish/American western , probably won't be making too many top ten lists, but its an agreeable flick . It's a thrilling western that scrutinizes the greed and paranoia that afflict avaricious gunfighters , including breathtaking crossfire between protagonists and enemies when are besieged at a ranch during the ending . It's a medium budget film with good actors , technicians , production values , pleasing results and turned to be shot entirely on location . Here filmmaker Roy Rowland delivers a decently-paced film , however he could be counted on to deliver solid "B" pictures which, at MGM , were often better than most other studios' . It's a stirring western with breathtaking gunfight between the brave protagonists : Alex Nicol , Jorge Mistral , Steve Rowland against the heartless Aldo Sambrell and his nasty hoodlums .Most players result to be too clean to compare with Sergio Leone's 'Man With No Name', so the result is nothing particular: too pretty for grit, too gritty for a traditional B and even a script co-written by Western experts as Borden Chase and Clark Reynolds can't do much . The film blends violence , thrills , high body-count and it's fast moving and exciting . There is plenty of action in the movie , guaranteeing shootouts or stunts every few minutes , including a spectacular final confrontation . Underrrated by some reviewers , but still interesting to watch . Atmospheric scenario with barren outdoors , dirty landscapes under sunny Spanish exteriors and a shimmer sun and fine sets by expert craftsmen . Striking and colorful cinematography in Eastmancolor Cromoscope by Manuel Merino and José Aguayo , being shot on location in Colmenar Viejo , Manzanares Del Real and La Pedriza , Madrid .
The motion picture was professionally directed by Roy Rowland and it has ups and downs . Roy sharpened his directing chops at MGM with a series of shorts starting in the 1930s, then moved up to features in 1943 . Roy spent quite a bit of time at the studio, from 1943-51 and again from 1954-58 ; he had the good fortune to marry the niece of Louis B. Mayer and was the father of actor Steve Rowland . While not one of the studio's top-rank directors , he was a good professional who had a considerable success . Most were B-movies, but he occasionally handled such A-graders . His greatest hit was , of course , the fantasy movie titled The 5000 fingers of Dr T (1953) . Rowland made an action picture for independent release based on a Mickey Spillane "Mike Hammer" novel starring Spillane himself (Girl hunters (1963)) . He specialized in a variety of genres, including musicals : ¡Viva Las Vegas! (1956) The seven hills of Rome (57) , Two weeks with love (50) and dramas : Our wines have tender grapes 45 with Edward G Robinson (1945). He was also responsible for the tough, fast-paced Rogue Cop (1954), one of the few MGM films that could be considered "film noir" . Roy was a Western expert , as the last film he made at MGM was this "B" western with Stewart Granger, Gun Glory (1957) ; besides , he filmed Outriders with Joel McCrea , Bugles in the afternoon with Ray Milland and Many rivers to cross with Robert Taylor ; after which and then he traveled to Europe for a string of Spanish/Italian-made westerns such as Los Pistoleros De Casa Grande and Ley Del Forastero . His final film as director was a somewhat cheesy pirate movie (he was uncredited ; his Italian co-director Sergio Bergonzelli got sole credit) called El Tigre De Los 7 Mares and its sequel : Tormenta Sobre el Pacífico (1966) . He was associate producer on Nathan Juran's Spain-shot Western : Al Infierno, gringo (1969), after which he retired .

The theme song from "La Violetera" became Montiel's signature song as well as ¨El Relicario¨ from ¨El Ultimo Cuple¨.
