AKA: The Making of Gone with the Wind
When Selznick International bought the rights to Gone with the Wind, which was published just a few months earlier in the summer of 1936, many people desired to be in the movie. Although everyone agreed on Rhett Butler, there was no Scarlett O'Hara. To help promote the movie, David O. Selznick started this "search" for his Scarlett, while he looked towards Hollywood's starlets. Eventually, after a very long search, the part was given to British unknown Vivien Leigh. Although people were against the decision, she proved them all wrong. Vivien Leigh brilliantly portrayed Scarlett in a performance considered one of the greatest. In honor of the 75th anniversary of the film, here are some of the famous women considered for (or desired to be) Scarlett. Also featured are people who were considered for other roles in the movie and some people who played a big role in pre-production.

Without further ado, the new nominees.
