The Walking Dead (2010)
Started out great, but this last season went downhill.
I loved the first season, I watched it all in one day, I just couldn't get enough. Then I watched the second season, and it lagged a bit, but there was some important character development and emerging story lines, so it wasn't all wasted. I figured out everyone was a zombie pretty early, there was tons of foreshadowing, so the ending climax seemed lackluster. That being said, I was excited for the third season. It certainly was "Breaking Bad" or "Lost" or "The Twilight Zone" but it was fun, exciting, and a lot better than most of the trash on television. The start of the third season was action packed and full of gore and I loved it. But they went too far and I was soon tired of nothing but zombies. The characters remained static and no plot was really developed. When they started with the plot, I wasn't sure if I liked where it was going. It seemed to meander and leave some loose ends. It just didn't do for me. Originally I rated this 10/10 stars, and as season 2 dragged on I wanted to lower it, but I kept it at 10/10 in hopes it would return to what drew me in the first me place. I lowered it to 9. As season 3 rolled around, it dropped further down to 8. Now as I'm waiting, I don't feel as excited, and frankly, while I'll still give it a shot, I'm worried it jumped the shark (or will very soon) and will only crumble further, becoming more like the stereotypical trash. Perhaps it was the departure of Frank Darabont that caused this to suffer, or maybe it just isn't meant to last so long. I read that they planed to make 7 seasons of this, personally I think this one should be enough. That is, unless it returns to its former glory and restores interesting plot lines. On another note, the acting is still nice, but the characters need development, or more interesting characters need to be introduced. I can only hope it gets better.
