Spider-Man 2 (2004)
9 out of 10! Wonderful!
Ebert& Roeper lie for alot of movies because they give every movie "Two Thumbs up!" but they weren't lying for this movie. Spider-Man 2 was even better than the first movie with the perfect amount of action, comedy, and drama. This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time and when it's over, you want to see it again and again and again. Tobey Maguire has never been better. Spiderman 2 (in terms of sequels) was better than Shrek 2. Alfred Molina was a perfect choice for Doc Ock, he had a great villian-type smooth voice. This movie even had the perfect plot (which some sequels don't)which was: Peter Parker was having trouble with school, he had just gotten fired because he's always up late for his most important job: being Spider-man. Everyone is worried about him and they start backing away from him. So he decides not to be Spiderman anymore. Well, crimes increase 75% after that and he is constantly bothered by people asking him where Spiderman is. Meanwhile, in a experiment for Dr.Otto Octavius to win the Nobel Peace Prize for Oscorp, Dr.Octavius gets 4 mechanical monstrous arms welded to his body, and his experiment almost blows up the city. Later, "Doc Ock" as the papers now call him, starts remaking the experiment, only bigger and more powerful than ever. And only one person can stop Doc Ock, and that's, Spider-Man. But will Peter choose the life of the hero, or the normal life?
Bruce Almighty (2003)
Hilarious! Loved every minute of it!
I always love Jim Carreys movies, and this is one of his greatest. I've seen How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Liar Liar, The Majestic, The Truman Show, Bruce Almighty, and have loved them all. He never ceases to make me laugh. For example, if some other actor tried to do a remake of Bruce Almighty, it wouldn't work because it is impossible to copy Jim Carrey even if you were his clone. But on to another actor. Morgan Freeman is a great God. He is just so calm and cool and you just can't help but love him. God really must have blessed him, because he had a superb performance, Oscar worthy in my opinion, but of course the Oscar will go to Jim Caviesel as Jesus in "The Passion of the Christ". Jennifer Aniston did a great job in the role she has done 19 times. Don't get me wrong, Jennifer's great, but she just does the same "Rachel" role over and over and over. But who doesn't love Rachel on "Friends". I thought this movie had a great plot, i mean "What if God was one of us?". They carried the plot greatly, showing a man on the verge of suicide, not getting the recognition he deserves, then gets Gods powers and fixes everything wrong in his life, while getting ample air time on the news and earning the name "Mr.Exclusive", but then realizes the job is harder than he thought because, turns out, you can't just help yourself. Is on the verge of suicide again, and doesn't want the job anymore, and tells people that you have to "Be the Miracle" and fixes his life by helping himself. Great movie, a great Shadyac film, i give it 10/10.
So confusing, and boring, not worth anyone's time
This movie was so confusing. You would only understand it if you were a sailor in that century, which no one is. There were too many characters for you to know their names, the director expected you to catch their names when they said them, they didn't have anyone say "Sir this is Cpt.Jack Aubrey" or anything like that. You had to give everyone nicknames, like the little boy with one arm or his friend or Pippin! When the guy on top of the sail thing died, I thought they killed off Billy Boyd because I didn't know his name. The worst performance in this movie would have to be Russel Crowe's. His voice is too deep and soft for you to understand. Plus, what makes a good movie is if it has at least one joke. The funniest part in this movie was the "lesser of two weavles" and that wasn't even all that funny. I just don't see how people compared this terrible movie to the great "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl". "Pirates" was great, this was just plain pathetic. Pirates had a great introduction of characters with the whole "What's your name?/Will Turner" also "Well, well, well, Jack Sparrow isn't it?/Actually, it's Captain Jack Sparrow" and it actually had a plot! I never want to hear Master and Commander again! Another terrible thing about the movie was, gore. I know they didn't have good medicine back then, but did they really have to show the pain on the poor boys face when he got his arm cut off?! There was too much implied gore for a PG-13 movie. Again, Pirates was great with that, they only showed the people's feet, this showed people getting stabbed and shot. Plus, it was so unbelievable when the doctor operated on HIMSELF! Thank god, I saw Shrek 2 the same day I saw this piece of garbage. THERE WERE ONLY A FEW GIRLS WHO HAD NO LINES!!! I give this crap a 0/1,000
The Man Who Cried (2000)
One of the worst movies I've ever seen
Some people may have loved this movie, but I hated it. I love movies and I like a lot of movies that people don't like (ex:my family didn't really like Edward Scissorhands, I loved it, I thought that Burton is a genius) but this is one of my least favorite movies besides Win a Date with Tad Hamilton and Once Upon a time in Mexico. There was no plot, and you had to read about 3/4 of the movie. I am a huge fan of Johnny Depp's i've seen about 11 of his movies, but his character was terrible. I mean he only had about 2 lines and one of them was in a different language. But don't get me wrong, he said those 2 lines well. And why did they have to blow up Cate Blanchett? I thought she was great in LOTR but this movie made her seem evil! At the end of the movie I said "That was it?" I thought they would have had more like, father gets out of hospital, they live happily ever after. And did they really need that much time for a flash back? But the weirdest part of the movie was the very beginning where they showed Christina Ricci floating in the ocean. I mean WHAT IS WITH THAT! Over all, I give this movie .5 out of 1,000,000. Terrible
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
I loved this movie!
This is my second favorite Johnny Depp movie and I've seen nine. At first I thought this movie was going to be scary but when I saw this movie, I laughed, cringed, and loved it! Johnny does a great job along with the rest of the cast. And even though Christopher Walken only got the line "ARGH!" i thought he did well with the action. This movie does get really violent, but hey, it's Tim Burton. I say this is the best Tim Burton movie I have ever seen (Big Fish is a close second), some parts are a bit weird, but thats only a few scenes. I suggest everyone who is allowed to watch R-rated movies and do not have a weak stomach to watch this movie. Overall, i give it a ***1/2 out of ****.
