The Great Gatsby (2013)
Gatsby. Okay writing, Tremendous Acting
The Great Gatsby is a spectacle for the eyes and hears. The scenery is creative and very loud around the actors. The music though not for made for the era does seem to fit in with the world that was created.
The writing for this film was very bland but that could just be because I find the overall story of Gatsby very bland. The classic lines from the novel were in the movie but they just didn't quite seem right with the world of Gatsby but the writers and director set for the audience. Overall the writing was just okay.
The acting was absolutely to tremendous on most parties. CAREY MULLIGAN-was the weakest link of the group as she gave a very boring performance as Daisy Buchanan. ISLA FISHER-who I thought was the biggest risk of the cast as Myrtle Wilson gave a surprisingly pleasant performance. TOM EDGERTON-portrayed Tom Buchanan in a dazzling way and wouldn't be surprising if the Oscars awarded him for his performances. TOBEY MAGUIRE-as Nick Carraway, though his narrations weren't the greatest his overall performance was very nice and he may rejuvenated his career after the Spiderman disaster. LEONARDO DiCAPRIO-Jay Gatsby, he gave depth to the character that no one else before was able to give. You see all the raw emotions and the silent emotions poor out of through his eyes. In my opinion it was the best acting performance I have seen in my lifetime. He was truly incredible
Edge of your seat fun
LOST is a show that dives deep into science fiction and makes your head spin with unexpected twists and crazy theories about life, destiny, and even time. In the later seasons it takes a turn toward the mythological and philosophical and it gives the show even more of the mystery feeling than you had before.
The writing is incredible as everything ties together and everything matters. The show makes you do your homework though you have to really think hard about some of the small things going on to understand there answer in the end and trust me I've watched the complete series 5 times. EVERYTHING is answered everything. It is an amazing ride and if you really understand it then it could really make you think about certain things in your life.
Also the acting is excellent by the entire cast. There isn't one weak actor in the bunch and that includes the non recurring role actors. If I had to rank the top 3 performances throughout the show it'd be in this order 1) Henry Ian Cusick though he isn't in season 1. He's just great as Desmond, perfect pick to play the character. 2) Josh Holloway who plays Sawyer, he has the most deep seeded character and shows more range than the other actors 3) Naveen Andrews brings a charm and calmness to an otherwise crazy and out of control character in Sayid
