Don't watch part 1 followed straight away by part 2. Definitely don't start a marathon at midnight. Part 2 needs to be watched on its own. It has its own pace that doesn't make sense back to back. Don't watch it tired, you'll need your full facilities to grasp what's going on. Don't watch it expecting it to be a great film in its own right like the first movie. This is definitely an adaptation. I've read the book and it still confused me.
If your intelligent you'll get the political and moral point it's making about war. If you're not so smart you'll love the cheese factor. It's slow but action packed. It's predicable but surprising. It's serious but funny. It's both camps - it sucks but it's also good. This is why I've rated it 5 stars.
Suzanne Collins has always highlighted contrasts. District 13 is grey, the Capitol is coloured. District 13 are starving, the Capitol take pills to throw up their food so they keep eating. Petia is loving, Gale is practical. The same contrast applies to this movie, or rather in the emotions and reactions I experienced watching it.
Overall it's meh, and you're left thinking "ummm....what?"
There is only one Tree Hill
Pretty good season finale. Lots going on.
Turns out Dan wanted to go back to Tree Hill to support Karen. That's got to be a kick in the guts to Deb to find out he only stayed for the baby.
The flashbacks were annoying, and thats where the point was lost for this episode.
How did Dan walk in on Deb and Keith, SHE CHANGED THE LOCKS! Did the writers forget this in the story line, or just left it out on purpose to create the drama.
I really thought Brooke was backstabbing Peyton, but just turns out that she is a double schemer. Gotta love her for that.
Finally we get a line in the show that explains the shows name, and its a pretty weak line.
Big cliff hanger with Dans heart attack. I want him to stay, he gives the show a great dynamic.
One Tree Hill: The Leaving Song (2004)
I want to leave Tree Hill
I get the feeling that now we are just moving onto the next teenager topic: pornography.
Hayley and Nathan seem to have opposite values, how can they think this will work out in the long run. Oh, thats right, teenagers don't think about that. They must have some serious chemistry going on to put up with the gaps between them.
I don't have kids, but I've seem parents getting around with way more than one small bag when they take kids anywhere, even if only for a few hours. How it is possible that Jake leaves forever with hardly anything to look after his daughter with?
Also Lucas all of a sudden wants to leave. Where did this story line come from? Not very believable, and I doubt it'll really happen.
But don't be thinking of me, because even the fantasy me is not interested
Really how can people not know or recognise people from their own class. I don't buy that Nathan is so popular that he doesn't at least recognise the face.
Loved the scene with Brooke at the bar. Geez she is so so angry. Loving it. I feel sorry for that guy. I wonder what damage Brooke caused. Obviously it doesn't matter to her at all.
Also loved the use of the word "tallish". So great. Very Brooke-ish language. I like how she is creative like that.
Deb and Dan getting it on. Hmm maybe OK for one last time just to be sure. Deb was funny as an angry drunk and kinda hot without her top on.
I love you and it scares me a little bit, but there it is
OMG Brooke pregnant, and Lucas is perfect as always, doing what is the right thing to do.
The scene where Lucas told his mum that Brooke was pregnant was great. Very good emotion. I got some tears, you know the good kind you get when a show moves you.
I don't really get Karens rejection. She's just mean for stringing him along all these years. Surely she knew.
The writers are confusing me about Dans intentions. The keepsake of Lucas is in direct contrast to many other aspects of his character. I don't know if I should like or hate him, and I think I'm doing both at the same time. One odd thing that occurred to me is, how did Dan get copies of Lucas' school photos? They looked professional to me.
I just want to play ball again you know, and get over this damn drama
I don't like the auction, I think it is sexist, but it was funny in a light hearted way and it was good to see Mouth get the top bid. It was also great the way he handled the rejection from Brooke, and I'm glad she turned around and took him on the date anyway.
It was funny to see Deb leading on Tim, it all seemed so deliberate, but then later on she was so shocked. I doubt she was that naive, and besides, didn't she change the locks on Dan? How did he even get in the house?
Its nice to see Hayley is confident and secure enough in her relationship to be friends with his ex girlfriend, but to encourage her to bid and go on the date with him is going too far.
I'd like to give her a jazz finger
I love a good cheerleader competition, and Brooke shows another side to her character.
Good to see that mouth is getting more air time. He is a great guy, and i like the dynamic between him and Brooke. I especially liked when he did the cheer routine. So cute.
Nathan having his own apartment is so cool, and I'm glad he is able to get out of that bad home environment. I wish I had that much privacy when I was in school.
I'm kinda over Lucas and Nathan not liking each other and putting Hayley in the middle. Just move on already.
Hard to leave the glow of your love
Lying. Just don't do it. This episode is all about the consequences of hiding the truth.
Hayley liking Cheryl Crow only ages her, and Hayley already acts and looks more mature then the others. She is supposed to be in high school and like new bands who I've never heard over. Not someone who's been around forever.
The geek in me finds it humorous the references to internet speeds and how having DSL vs dial up is a luxury.
I'm still stuff on Lucas' hair colour being blonds, but neither of his parents are. Deb's hair is also blonde, and her sons isn't. Casting wise it makes more sense for Lucas and Nathan to swap. Try imagining Nathan and Lucas in opposite roles. I don't think I could love the James Lafferty version of Lucas the way I love the Chad Michael Murray version of Lucas.
Epic put down by by Brooke to that guy at the bar. Sucks to be him! Brooke is so cool though. I don't know why I love someone who is so mean, but she is so great.
Now I don't really care if I see either of you again
I liked Hayley's singing, well the chorus I did. The start sounded a little too deep. She is a great well rounded, smart, funny, beautiful, talented caring character. However she does not seem or act like a teenager. More like, say someone in their late 20's.
I wonder what is in Debs past. So far she has been painted a saint with the charity work, and protecting her son from Dan. But really if you think about it, she can be quite mean and manipulative. I love her as a character though. She is the good kind of bad guy.
When is Keith going to realize that Karen is just not that into her. Argh, so frustrating. Yes, just sell up and move, thats the best option Keith. Though I was confused about if the bank scene and the selling the garage are related to the medical bills, or related to issues with Karen.
One Tree Hill: I Shall Believe (2004)
With Lucas he looks at me and he really see me, you know, like, right down into my soul
Lucas has a great view out his hospital window. Perhaps Karen could've saved some money and got a room without a view, or at least a room without a green screen fake view. I'm guessing that's what it was, seemed a bit suspicious to me.
I really do not agree or understand Karens reaction. Keith was under the legal limit. If the Police to not think he committed a crime, then neither should she.
I liked the Karen and Peyton introduction scene. Even they are meant to be together, not Brooke. Though Brooke is also great. Ah, these triangle are really doing their thing!
I disliked the tributes to Lucas. It seemed like an overreaction to a non event to me. Was it a writers attempt to make the situation feel serious, if so, I think it failed. I also knew he'd be fine, as if he would pass away.
