10/10: A masterpiece, a film I love all around and has no flaws at least in my eyes. Ex. Pulp Fiction, The Departed, There Will Be Blood, Collateral, John Carpenter's The Thing, Inglorious Basterds, The Big Lebowski, etc.
9/10: A great film to me but may have a couple or sometimes many flaws but regardless, I still love it. Ex. The Fan(1996), Changing Lanes, Phone Booth, Die Hard, Running Scared, Smokin' Aces, Narc, Shoot 'Em Up, etc.
8/10: I can still say I love the film but it has many or countless amounts of flaws but I am a big fan of it. An extremely good film if rated at an 8. Ex. Dreamcatcher, Tropic Thunder, Trapped, Basic, Thursday, Deep Blue Sea, Sabotage(2014), etc.
7/10: A very good or enjoyable film but still has many flaws, I can say I really liked the film if it was rated at an 7. Usually my favorite B movies rate here. Ex. Under Siege, Suspect Zero, The Cave, Killshot, Tremors, Taken, etc.
6/10: A film I enjoy but is nowhere close to being great or even very good. Usually my guiltiest of guilty pleasures(Alone in the Dark) rate here but also other films I enjoy. Ex. Surviving the Game, Righteous Kill, Majority of FT13th and Hellraiser films, Reindeer Games, etc.
5/10: An alright movie, sometimes movies that I think are "so bad its good" rate here or other movies maybe I thought to be a bit overrated or just okay. A lot of B Horror movies rate here as well. Ex. Suicide Kings, Color of Night, Superbad, Resident Evil, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, etc.
4/10: This is when we are getting into to the bad territory. Movies rated at a 4 have some positive moments but they are overshadowed by mediocre or bad moments. Ex. DeepStar Six, Blood Work, Whiteout, Sucker Punch, Red Planet, etc.
3/10: A very bad film that has few positive moments that are highly outweighed by the negative. Ex. Street Fighter, The Reaping, Semi-Pro, Kick Ass 2, Terminator: Salvation, etc.
2/10: A pretty horrible movie yet at least one thing is saving it from 1 star but this is my least ranked rating. Ex. R.I.P.D, Identity Thief, Sinister, Cop Out, Spider Man 3, etc.
1/10: I hate this movie. However, it may not be as bad as 2s and 3s in acting or production value but it is way more infuriating to me. These movies have no redeeming qualities to me and are among the worst films of all time in my opinion. Ex. Disaster Movie, Simon Sez, Hard Candy, Going Overboard, Scary Movie 5, Red State, Cosmopolis, Colombiana, A Nightmare on Elm Street(2010), etc.
I love films in nearly all genres especially Thriller, Drama, and Horror. My favorite Actors/Actresses are Samuel L. Jackson, Angelina Jolie, Thomas Jane, Sam Rockwell, Robert De Niro, Bruce Willis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kevin Spacey, Mark Ruffalo, Brad Pitt, Christopher Walken, Charlize Theron , Ryan Reynolds, Edward Norton, Denzel Washington, Kate Beckinsale, Kevin Bacon, James Franco, Paul Walker(R.I.P), Jack Nicholson, Robin Williams, Robert Downey Jr., Sylvester Stallone, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
My favorite Directors are Quentin Tarantino, Clint Eastwood, John Carpenter, Frank Darabont, The Coen Brothers, David Fincher, Martin Scorsese, Michael Mann, Joel Schumacher, Tony Scott, Robert Zemeckis, and Renny Harlin.

Another Horrible "Comedy" from Friedberg and Seltzer, Two of "Hollywoods" Greatest Hacks
The only reason I watched this and I mean it, was that I was paid $20 to, by a truly cruel evil man that even the "prize" of $20 is not worth sitting through an hour and twelve minute film which this is, not counting horribly unfunny bloopers which take up ten more minutes of your life which would be better spent shooting up heroin and I mean that. Thankfully, this is the first Friedberg/Seltzer "film" to be released straight to video, it's about time. You know, people say there are worse directors but I don't see it, even Uwe Boll delivered a couple of decent films in Rampage and Assault on Wall Street. Even Michael Bay as much as I dislike him can create solid special effects. But this deadly duo who are guilty of making people dumber for having to sit through their films are the truly most criminal.
On to the "film" itself, it obviously is a "satire" of The Hunger Games while also in typical fashion of this duo add random unfunny things to it, just to add it, for no apparent reason. I just watched the movie and I am started to forget most of it which is a blessing, every joke, and I mean every joke is a desperate pathetic attempt to make the viewer laugh, I can't comprehend the people who would find this funny. Obviously the people who like their awful excuses for movies, there has to be some people, if they keep making them. The only thing I give the movie props for is a quick moment where they show that The Hunger Games is essentially a rip off of The Running Man and Battle Royale, however, the way they did it, did not make me laugh. The acting is cringe worthy and I like Diedrich Bader but he has nothing to do here and is completely wasted in his role, he must have needed the paycheck. I can't even explain how bad the "jokes" are.
Overall, it's just like their other flicks, painfully unfunny and will make you want to commit suicide faster than a death in your family. Not as bad as Disaster Movie as nothing ever will but still easily one of the worst comedies ever made. I don't believe in an afterlife but if there is a hell, it will no doubt be a never ending marathon of their works. Now excuse me while I go hang myself.
The Forest (1982)
Slightly Underrated Different Type of Slasher Film
I've been collecting 80's slasher films recently and I got my hand on a copy of the Code Red DVD release of The Forest, a little known and not very liked 80's supernatural slasher film. The Forest is pretty interesting for your typical slasher fare, it revolves around a group of hikers, adults mind you are hunted by a cannibal hermit in the woods who is haunted by the spirits of his dead wife and kids. It gets a poor 3.5 on here which is the same of Don't Go in the Woods...Alone! and I will say The Forest is a better film.
Now, let's get down to the usual criticisms here. The acting is atrocious, the best acting in the film is by Gary Kent who plays the cannibal hermit and he's really not that good either but he's given somewhat solid character development for his character and he is not annoying which is more than I can say for a lot of slashers. The directing is about average for slashers, nothing special but I do like the setting and I think it's captured decently here. The body count is low, but this film is not about the body count, more about the story instead. The score I actually didn't mind, there's song which is horrendously funny but the score itself, isn't that bad, in fact, I liked the score they used for the opening kills. My two favorite scenes are the opening with the two kills and the flashback sequence though poorly acted by everybody but Kent, gives us decent character development and while cheesy, actually makes us sympathize with the killer.
The Forest is not a good film by any means and I paid quite a bit for the DVD but it's a solid DVD and I liked the film more than I thought I would. Recommended to slasher fans who want something a little different than just the killer in the woods formula.
Mildly Entertaining At Times But Ultimately Fails
Recently, I have been downloading rare horror films(particularly slasher films) to finally see them after years of curiosity. Iced was one of the first ones I watched. It's plot is here on IMDb so I will spare you the details of it's plot. The setting of the film is probably the most original and interesting aspect of the film, it takes place in a snowy environment which you don't see that often in slasher films. Iced starts off immediately entertaining(albeit unintentionally) with it's opening title sequence, it also starts off with some promise to at least be an entertaining film.
The middle of the film is the problem, once the friends reminisce at the old ski lodge, it starts to go downhill. The writer(and also star) of Iced is Joseph Alan Johnson, I recently reviewed Berserker(1987) which Johnson starred in but had no part in the writing process of that film, I can safely say, I had much more fun with Berserker. I do give props to the filmmakers to do something different for a slasher film, it tries to develop its characters but sadly, it fails miserably as I do not remember any of the characters except for the funny cokehead guy and hottie Lisa Loring(Blood Frenzy) who thankfully delivers multiple scenes of nudity. The film doesn't have that much gore and most of the kills are pretty cheesy and hilarious. The ending, the ending, oh boy, the ending has to be seen, it is one of the funniest and nonsensical endings I have ever seen.
Overall, Iced is a poor slasher which if it just consists of the beginning and the ending would be pretty entertaining. Iced has never been released on Region 1 DVD or Blu-Ray and that truly is for a good reason. 4/10 just for Lisa Loring and the ending, only recommended if you absolutely love bad films.
A Ridiculous Yet Fun Rare Slasher Flick
I have been wanting to see Berserker for awhile now, and after recently downloading it, I was able to finally see it. I love tracking down rare horror films, usually the hunt is more exciting than the eventual catch but I still have a blast tracking it down. The first I heard of Berserker was when I accidentally stumbled upon the trailer on YouTube, the trailer is actually really atmospheric and is certainly better than the film itself. Berserker is definitely not even close to a good film, that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it though. The film doesn't have that much gore or a high body count which is a letdown and it certainly could have been immediately better with those increased ingredients, it does however, deliver on some gratuitous nudity by the most attractive actress in the film(in my opinion) which is Beth Toussaint. The acting is horrendous as usual with most of the 80s slashers.
The plot could have made a truly awesome horror film but I accept Berserker for what it is, a cheesy totally 80s slasher film with a unique but ludicrous and poorly executed killer yet still manages to be entertaining. The plot twist at the end is not suspenseful and unintentionally hilarious in the way it was executed, the music is also hilarious but still fun to listen to. By the majority of this review, you would think I didn't enjoy the film at all but to be honest, I had a blast watching it. The film runs at a pretty quick pace which is actually refreshing considering most 80s slashers are actually dreadfully slow.
Overall, I would love if Berserker got a Blu-Ray/DVD release(it has never had one in the US) especially released by Shout!/Scream Factory but chances of that are not very likely as I seem to be one of the very few who enjoyed the film. Recommended if you love 80s B horror films that are not necessarily good at all but entertaining, fun film. 6/10.
I bought this film on Amazon.com for $18 from Italy and seen it on Netflix Watch Instantly before I bought it and loved it. The movie is about six drug smugglers who's yacht sinks and they aboard an abandoned oil rig which was home to experiments. The movie is a rip off of the The Thing and Leviathan but how I look at it I love The Thing and Leviathan and loved Proteus.
If you do have Netflix Watch Instantly try this out only if you like Direct-To-Video or TV Movie movies. Do not expect that much gore, scares, and there is no nudity. I only knew three actors when I watched this film which was Craig Fairbrass(Devils Playground) as the lead, Ricco Ross(Aliens) which had a small part as a security guard, and Doug Bradley(Pinhead from Hellraiser) as the owner of the oil rig somewhat a known cast for a DTV movie.
I love the film but you may not because people usually hate rip offs of The Thing but the worst rip off The Thing is The Awakening(which is the worst horror film I have ever seen) and I promise you Proteus is a 100 times better than The Awakening. I thought Proteus is the best rip off of The Thing rip offs and just slightly better than Leviathan in my opinion.
Give it a try before you buy it and you can not rent the DVD from Netflix as it is only Watch Instantly but definitely do not buy blindly because the only place to find the film on DVD is on Amazon and for about $18 and is an Italian Import.
I would recommend it only to people who are fans of these films.
