Beware! The Blob (1972)
Beware! The Blob. So bad its really good!
After so many years after it was dropped of in the arctic so it will never invade and conquer the world back from the 1958 movie The Blob, some geologist discovers it and was brought home in a freezer, till his wife defrost it and once again, the red jelly thing from out of space is alive again, and is hungrier than ever. When I brought this on amazon and reading the negative reviews I was worried about wasting my money on a bad movie. After watching it, I thought it was great. Starring a goofy cast with campy humor and chills. I didn't know that Larry Hagman (I Dream of Jeany)directed this. OMG he must have been on drugs when he was directing this. Anyway is one of those movies that was made just for the fun of it. Don't listen to the other critics, watch it for yourself and enjoy it. My rating 6/10
Maximum Overdrive (1986)
100% pure B movie gold
Loosely based on Stephen King's short story 'Trucks' a comet hot rods around the earth causing machines and mostly trucks to have murderous minds and take over the highways hating humans. Non-stop explosive and twisted metal action, non-stop road kill topped with the roaring soundtrack by AC/DC and the movies theme song 'who made who'. This is pure B movie gold along with the movies iconic goblin truck. The campy humor is a bit laughable, its a fact that we are exploring King's funny side rather than just horror. The acting isn't Oscar worthy but thats how I like these movies to be. A movie to watch with your mates on a hot summer afternoon. Get ready to put your seat belts on your lounges, because you are about to take a trip on a highway to hell. My rating 7 1/2.10
Christina's House (2000)
Don't get confused with the title. Because when you look at the title 'Christina's House', you might think it's a haunted house story. But its not. It's a teenage slasher thriller about Christina being stalked by a killer who one by one kills her friends who is close to her. The movie isn't that disappointing. The performance from the actors was OK, a minimum lack of blood and gore topped with great edge of your seat moments from beginning to end. I don't understand why the reviews are so bad. Don't let the critics tell you what to watch or not, but its up to you to decide and a type of movie to watch when your friends are over. Overall, a decent independent suspense thriller. My rating 7/10.
Hardcore Poisoned Eyes (2000)
Hardcore Poisoned Eyes
I actually got this movie by accident somehow and had never even heard of it before. When I first watch it I thought it was going to be a dull cheap movie. But as a matter of fact it was actually quite impressive for a little independent horror flick. Three careless girls seek a house in the woods to spend their long weekend. One night they begin to experience a terrifying encounter who is known as Mr Crowly as the three girls not realize that the house they are staying in belongs to a satanic cult plotting to cause mayhem around the world. Overall there are great performances from both characters and actors. It was a cast of four people. And a great plot all filmed by a hand-held camera under the direction of Sal Ciavarelo. I wouldn't say that Hardcore is a scary movie but it is creepy as Hell. I give it 7 out of 10.
Zombie Bloodbath (1993)
I don't see why people have been harsh about this B movie, but you can tell it was directed by a guy who's idol might be George A. Romero. Zombie Bloodbath is one of those movies that don't get taken seriously and it's always for the fun of it. The special effects are awesome, including the scenes of people getting torn to pieces by flesh eaters which is not disappointing but the acting and the plot is bit dull and it could have been better. Anyhow the title of the movie doesn't disappoint. The bloody gory death scenes are what you should be looking for in this movie. Overall, a fun, campy independent horror flick which is aimed at audiences who are only interested in B movie trash and or zombie flicks.
