Mansfield Park (1983)
Accurate and dull
This movie is about a young girl who goes to live with her rich cousins falls in love with one of her cousin, and reject the advance of a amoral suitor who brings trouble on the family. After seeing the 1999 version and reading the book, I decided to watch the older version. I found it did stay true to Fanny character in the book, but it was also boring character. Fanny character played by Sylvestra Le Touzel was lackluster; she often appeared to be about to faint. I also did not like Robert Bourbage who played Henry Crawford. I could not imagine him being interested in Fanny or her cousin Maria. Jackie Smith Wood who played Mary Crawford was okay but the wig she wore was so ugly. I lost interested in her acting and I kept staring at her wig. I kept expecting it would drop off her head. I could also see a slip of her real hair under the wig.
The Phantom of the Opera (2004)
This is my favorite phantom of the opera movie and I seen dozens of the version of the opera. I never been fond of musical but I have to change my mind after I seen this movie I actually wept for the phantom. Gerald Bulter is so good at playing this trouble masked villain who wanted nothing more than to be love by Christine and to have his music played. I could have cried for him I never felt such compassion for him in the other phantom movie. The Set was exquisite so was Emily Rossum as Christine you can see the conflict she in love with two men one twisted and dark and the other good and yet she drawn to the twisted one. I love the songs so many.
National Treasure (2004)
Indiana Jones vs Ben Gates
Indiana Jones moves over for Ben Gates. Nah just kidding. This movie is a rip off for Raiders of the lost Ark it not bad copy it just not good enough. Not enough excitement and the number one bad guy is just not bad enough plus their should be more adventures throughout the movie. Nicholas Cage does not have the charmed that Harrison Ford had in Ark also I did not believe in the chemistry between Cage and his costar. I did like the story line just wish they had another actor for the part not that Nicholas isn't a good actor just not for this movie. Maybe Jude Law or Clive Owen. Okay they are both English, but they both played tough American roles. It would be a refreshing change but my guess it want be happening soon.
The Stepford Wives (2004)
I must admit, I wasn't looking forward to seeing this movie. I seen the TV version of the Stepford wives after the original movies was made, and I was disappointed in all those copycats. Okay, I pay my 3.75 at the video store anyway and watched the DVD, and I was so impress with this lighter comical version. Nicole Kidman as the slightly neurotic TV business executive is wonderful, and Matthew Broderick as the long suffering husband knocks my socks off literally that is. I actually thought that he had turned his wife in for newer version just as in the original version. But they added a twist which worked out great. I also like Glenn Close role as the insane Stepford wife. If you prefer the darker version then don't see this movie, but it sways away from the 1975 movie.
Disappoint Stephen King Movie I really expect more it hard for me to accept that King wrote this movie it not the worst of his movie but it just about close. Okay it has a good solid cast of actors but even they couldn't save this lifeless movie and yes the special effect are good no thank to Stephen. I am big fan of his written when it good this however is not one of his best and it special effect is not enough but apparent someone think it is what this movie really need what the word oh yeah a story line! I would not rent this again better to wait and see it on television anyway that were all the lousy movies in up at.
House of the Dead (2003)
Worst movie of the year 2003!
I could use dozen different adjective to describe how bad this movie is but I am to much of a lady to do so. All I will say is buyer beware unless you like seeing a movie with bad acting, lousy script and terrible makeup if you do this is for you. To sum it up the winner at least for me is the worst film of the year goes to House of the Dead.
