I always rate movies i love a 10/10 but in the description i will realistically write the rating i think it should've gotten.
Les Misérables (2012)
MINDBLOWN Phenomenal movie!!!!!!
Warning there are major spoilers: I saw this movie in theaters and I just have to say it was amazing. Just wonderful and perfect and marvelous and words unable to describe it. I was mind blown. This movie is better than Lincoln. Some movies I have seen were hard to follow and some I couldn't understand. Others had a scene or two that were unneeded or made no sense; but in the two and a half hours I saw, I understood every line and every scene perfectly without doubt. I would love to write a synopsis for this film or answer any questions (email me: email@example.com). Luckily I was learning about the French Revolution the day before which gave me a little background on the movie. Not much but I knew the poor people are the Third Estate and revolted because of famine. Most of the dialog in the movie was singing which didn't really bother me and that's the only reason it can be considered a musical. There were no random moments of singing and dancing. Also, the actors were phenomenal; all of them. I've always known Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine and figured he would be sucky in a musical albeit he was the best actor in the movie and did an amazing job. Russel Crowe, however, was also a great actor and with my obsession and utter admiration for villains, his role as the antagonist, Javert, was great and showed great villainous qualities. The way he hunted Jackman's character down (for stealing bread, running away and refusing parole) and showed no mercy even after Jackman saved him, showed forgiveness and let him live after years of hunting him made him a good villain. But then, my favorite scene, was when he stood on the bridge and looked into the waterfall rapids and decided to jump off was amazing and just perfect. I loved that scene so much. I really did. Not only did he fall off a tremendous height into the crashing rapids but he plummeted into the concrete edge of the waterfall. It was cruel and violent and just so intense. Unlike Lincoln whereas the assassination of Abe was anticlimactic and kind of disappointing. This suicide was very climatic and gut-wrenching and was just perfect.
All the little scenes were also amazing like the wars, love triangles (a "Ducky" from Pretty in Pink character in the triangle) and the minor characters. They adapted the film. Such as the innkeeper and landlord with all their corrupt ways in the inn. Like the whores, pigs and drunks living there and the landlady kissing all the men but her husband and her drunk and poor mannered husband all the while where they made food made from sludge and garbage and stole from anyone they saw. These were mere scum people where they also used children for labor and pretend to love them when a man comes to generously buy one (reminded me of Annie). The movie was in a span of around thirty years which made it amazing also. The best concept of the movie was definitely the serious and intense cruelty and gruel images of it. Such as the war where they killed a young child, the streets of blood puddles, murdering of all the boys in the revolution, the suicide, deaths in general and the crazy scene in the beginning with the prostitution and bodily sacrifices. These scenes made the movie that much better and gave it the true terror and insanity. This movie was truly amazing and one of my favorites. 10/10. Thank you for reading I hope you enjoyed my review.
Carnival of Souls (1998)
5/10 adequate movie
The film Carnival of Souls was adequate. The only reason I watched it was because 1) I'll watch any movie and 2) the role of Shawnee Smith is present. I love Shawnee. She is an idol of mine especially after seeing "Becker" the brilliant TV show. Shawnee is perfect, she is a talented and beautiful actress whom is also, shown by this movie, a talented singer. She has it all.
I haven't seen the original "Carnival of Souls" therefore I can't judge on that account. The film was pretty confusing, strange and generally creepy. The concept was fairly well and the acting was pretty average. On that note, actors such as Shawnee, Bobbie (the actress that played the main character) and whoever played Louis the clown were great actors and played their roles tremendously. The minor characters weren't very great a what they did but the main characters made all the difference.
I didn't quite like the ending of the movie whereas it lacked a climax. The entire movie was also disturbing and rather confusing. I could easily abide through the boring scenes and confusing parts of the movie but truthfully, they could have done better. Although the flashbacks kept the movie alive and helped advance the plot.
There were some interesting and even funny quotes in the movie, also some odd. One I was rather shocked to hear was, "Oh we're not gonna put the makeup on my face this time." What? But some quotes I liked, such as "Do you know what girls are made of? Sugar and spice and all things *checks her our* nice." I got some good laughs out of this movie. But truthfully, it wasn't a good movie. Then again, the quotes and Shawnee Smith's amazing performance made the movie semi-good. Plus the antagonist, Louis the Clown, was one bad@ss character. Therefore I give this movie a solid five out of ten.
Great Underrated Film
This is an excellent short film. It is very unpopular which I take a liking in.
I saw it on Youtube recently. In the short 8 minutes I have watched, I was surprised a short film as unpopular as this was so fantastic.
It starts off with Deddon speaking with a man about guns and his mission and soon cuts into action which is the rest of the film. It's about a contract killer that is sent to kill a man. Deddon, the CK, goes to the man's house easily concealing the gun and fooling an incoming woman as a boy on his cellphone. He enters the house and there is a realistic low-budget fight scene involving a knife, table and gun. He soon ends up killing the man with the pistol and proceeds to wash his hands and face in the bathroom. A boy, the dead man's son walks inside only being around 11 years old and clearly surprised at the incident and sight of his dead father. Deddon aims the gun at him but leaves finding it morally apprehensive and unethical to kill a young boy.
Deddon is driving away in his car and he calls his boss telling him he killed the man but spared the son. The boss was surprised at the fact that he left a witness and told him it was no big deal and to blow it off. Clearly he was lying about being nonchalant about the witness and as a killer he would have to take care of it. A police detective and the juvenile are speaking at the scene and the lights go out. The detective briefly leaves and several silenced shots are heard. The boy goes to the floor in fear and a gun is pointed at him ready to shoot. Suddenly the armed man is shot and Deddon stands holding a pistol. He shoots the killer again which was presumed to be his boss and it cuts off into the credits.
Personally I loved this short film because of the consistent action, simplicity, and plot twists. For low-budget, this film was very well made and deserves more attention at least enough to get a decent rating. Deddon is a very interesting character portrayed very well by Nate Geez as was all of the other characters in the film.
I just finished watching it! I thought that the remake was fantastic, obviously not as good as the original. But it was great for a remake. They were line for line correct and the details were very precise. i was surprised at the ratings and reviews because this was such a great movie.
Vince Vaughn was a great Norman Bates. HE was no Anthony Perkins, but he was a fantastic psycho.
Yes, there were clearly some changes (such as money stolen $40,000 to $400,000) and some of the effects were fake. But that's no reason to hate on it.
Great TV Show!
This was a great show as a kid bringing back nostalgic memories. It consists of zany antics and realistic middle school problems made unrealistic and reenacted puerilely. It always makes me laugh with the stupid stunts and the silly sound effects.
The characters are great! There are relationship problems, bullies, and the famous janitor, Gordy! He chases a weasel throughout the entire show and befriends the main characters, foolishly helping them through their situations.
The guide to school survival is truly helpful and teaches lessons for kids. So, it is educational and entertaining. Ned's is a great show. No doubt.
Such an amazing movie!!!!
This movie was phenomenal! I had the first hint it would be the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth, but i never realized it. By the looks of the trailer, it seemed funny and silly.
When i went to see it, i actually thought it was great! From the start of the movie, it displayed a great representation of how the family is facing problems with spending time together and relating. The boy is always running off and getting into trouble while the stepfather is trying to help him. Clearly it doesn't work. Classic stepfather/teen movie.
Also, two great actors to start it off, Dwayne Johnson and Josh Hutcherson.
Then the stepfather tries to get involved in his search for the Mysterious Island and his grandfather. This then reveals that the stepfather was in the military and the two figure out the maps and everything. It was very clever and entertaining.
Next, they take a trip to an island to get transport to the island. Then Vanessa Hudgens and that Guiz guy are revealed. Vanessa was a beaut and no one can say anything about it. The fat father was amazing throughout the movie! He was so hilarious! He made the movie so much funnier, with witty lines and puerile remarks. The movie was very entertaining with shrunken elephants to giant lizards and riding giant bees. There was also a mountain of gold, dry Atlantis, and Michael Caine as the grandfather! The stepfather and him were also hilarious as they fought and insulted each other. It was truly a great and entertaining movie!
