I put explanations for why I didn't like some of them but others I just didn't even feel like bothering...
Third installment in "Wimpy Kid" series is extremely funny!! On par with the 2nd installment
Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days is the third installment in the "Wimpy Kid" franchise and this time Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) is on summer vacation and what he wants to do is stay in his comfort zone with the blinds closed playing video games all summer but unfortunately, his dad (Steve Zahn) wants him to be active. To impress his dad, Greg tells his dad that he has a job at a country club (hint: he doesn't) where he goes to with Rowley (Robert Capron) almost every day, where his crush Holly Hills (Peyton List, "Jessie") goes to, and where Rodrick (Devon Bostick) tries to impress Holly Hills's older sister, Heather Hills. Meanwhile, the Heffley's get a dog, Greg goes on a trip with Rowley and his family, and Greg and his dad go on a camping trip. And then antics ensue. Now i'd consider myself a big Diary of a Wimpy Kid fan. I love all 6 books, i hated and was really disappointed by the first "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" movie from 2010, but loved last year's "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules", and have really been looking forward to this. And lady's and gentleman i'm glad to say...i'm not disappointed one bit. I've heard a lot of negative reviews from adults. Their main problem was that there's too much story. The point of Diary of a Wimpy Kid is supposed to about Greg's life. I guess the real demographic for this movie are people like myself so to me...this movie was extremely funny! The way that they put everything together was great, kept me in hard laughter throughout, and i didn't find myself bored throughout any of the 93 minute run time. Zachary Gordon is charming here as our awkward hero, Greg Heffley and portrays Greg Heffley well as if he came out of the page and onto the big screen and i'm really looking forward to Zachary Gordon's roles outside of this franchise. Robert Capron is also really great here as Greg's lovable sidekick, Rowley. And Peyton List ("Jessie"), is adorable here as Greg's crush Holly Hills. The rest of the cast is also really good here including Devon Bostick, Steve Zahn, Rachael Harris, Grayson Russel, and Karan Brar (also from "Jessie"). I just wasn't really the biggest fan of Phil Hayes's role in this movie as Greg's dad's boss. His role just felt really phoned-in and unnecessary. Other than that, all the antics i found to be really enjoyable and funny including a really funny tennis scene, Greg and Rowley on a roller coaster, a really awkward scene where Rodrick pretends he's drowning, Rodrick singing a hard rock version of Justin Bieber's "Baby", and a lot more. Overall, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days is a throughly enjoyable, hilarious summer family comedy and is by far worth a trip to the theater! If you love the books and the 2nd movie...your gonna love this! 10/10 for me by far! This is up there with "The Avengers", "Madagascar 3", "The Amazing Spider Man", and "The Dark Knight Rises" for best films of the summer so far!
Fun beginning of the summer flick!!
So Thor is basically the first big budget superhero movie of summer 2011. The story revolves around The Mighty Thor (Chris Hemoswerth), who when after saying something ignorant to his father (Anthony Hopkins) gets his powers taken and gets thrown down to earth where he meets 3 scientists (Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, and Stellan Skarsgard) while their he learns about earth and develops a romance with one of the scientists while meanwhile a villain comes to earth and it's up to Thor to defeat him. It's not perfect but i really enjoyed this movie! The action is pretty cool (despite the fact that their weren't that much but still), the acting was pretty good especially Chris Hemoswerth, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, Kat Dennings, and Anthony Hopkins, and the whole immortal on earth thing that has been done to death i found pretty interesting here. Overall, I thought Thor was a very entertaining movie and i would definitely watch it again!
Something Borrowed (2011)
If this crap was borrowed... return it back
I don't feel like explaining the plot for this movie so you can watch the trailer or read the description online if you want to. So what did i think of this movie. UGH! Yeah that should explain what i thought. The trailer for the movie looked really good for some reason but this movie was an awful movie. First, lets start with the bad. The script was all over the place. The script just felt so fuzzy and didn't feel right. Also, the movie is just boring and just drags. The movie goes on way longer than it should. It just goes on and on and on and on and on. There's that moment were your like oh it's about to be over. NOT. Now the good. The acting is actually really good in here. Ginifer Goodwin does her best, Kate Hudson was pretty funny, John Krasinski was the best thing about the movie he was hilarious and has great comic timing and "All My Children" star Colin Egglesfield was pretty good. So overall, the acting was good but John Krasinski and Kate Hudson were the two who stole the show for me. Also, the movie has a lot of really funny moments and i was actually laughing at times. Also, it does have a little bit of heart and you can feel how Ginifer Goodwin and Colin Egglesfield wan't each other but the obstacles that come between it. Overall, I thought that it was an awful movie, it had a lot of funny moments and the cast does good but it just drags and it sometimes got a little boring. If you wanna watch a good romantic comedy watch the proposal, the holiday, how do you know, he's just not that into you, 13 going on 30 or something not borrowed (get it?)
