1 question to the fans...
First let me start by stating that I am not a fan of this movie. I have watched it 3 times, yes 3 times. I've given it many chances to do something for me and every time it gets worse.
That aside, my question. Why is it whenever somebody says they do not like this movie the fans say "you didn't get it"? Or "they are too narrow minded" to understand it? These seem to be Gummo fans reasons why we disliked the movie. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make them supid or ignorant. Stop trying to be eliteists.
Personally I think its the other way around. I feel the majority of Gummo fans look too deep for some abstract meaning. They see two little boys killing cats and say "there has to be another reason they are killing those cats. There has to be some deep seeded meaning, some symbolism there". I think you want there to be a reason all the stupid stuff in the movie happens so you lie to yourself. You make you brain think there is some clever hidden agenda. I don't believe there is. I watched this movie several times and each time I looked for things I might have missed from the previous viewing. It still sucks. Not once have I gathered any notion of any type of symbolism, or general thought or talent from this movie. I can honestly say its the worst movie I have ever seen. Like they say, your first choice is usually the correct one. If you watched this movie and had to sit and think for a long period about what it meant, it probably didn't mean anything to you. There is nothing to this film.
The Breaks (1999)
This could be one of the worst movies i have ever seen, and I have seen some bad ones. The whole whit guy trying to be ghetto is way overdone. This is honestly just a bad movie. It seems that at points with different actors it could have been ok. Also, there are brief cameos from George Clinton and Gary Paton. They fact they would appear in a movie of such epic dissaster makes me think less of them. Thanks a lot "The Breaks"
