Born in Ayr, Scotland.
Introduced to performing on violin at the age of 4,
performing solo and in concert,
with local and national youth orchestras.
Moves to Glasgow, and graduates as a Master of Arts from the University of Glasgow in 1985,
having focused academically on music and psychology,
serving on board of management and
acting as entertainments convenor for the student union.
Settles in Glasgow.
After a year of self employment in various areas of the entertainment sector,
including filming for Clyde Cablevision, Dance Factory Concert Promotions, and Perfect Pitch Music Consultancy,
an opportunity to work for Radio Clyde arises and a year of working in the music production department follows, recording live classical and pop/rock concerts, recording sessions, technically operation of current affairs, religious and sport, and various presenter driven programmes covering tracks across generations.
This leads to many connections within the Scottish music scene in the late 80's.
Opportunities to provide violin, and string arrangements for recording follows.
This includes Glasgow based signed acts Kevin McDermott and Del Amitri.
The Silencers sees 3.5 years of recording, performing and promoting the bands work thoughout Europe.
Artistic and personal differences leads to a decision to move on to other projects including a period of recording with several other acts.
In 1994, the post of Music Development Worker allows for the encouragement of young persons in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow grow their musical and broadcasting interests.
A year on, the freelance trail calls again, working with acoustic based acts, such as The McLuskey Brothers ( formerly The Bluebells, ("of Young at Heart notoriety");), and Martin Stephenson ( The Daintees; "Wholly Humble Heart".)
By 1995 soundtrack composition opportunities arise, for contemporary dance, moving images and theatre, including a soundtrack for a theatre performance of Pinnochio that travels to Rostov on Don, Russia, and contemporary dance choreography based on the Selkie Seal legend.
Links to the Realworld and WOMAD organisation saw performances in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Soweto, Italy, Spain, Singapore, UK, and USA in concert with Andy White from Belfast.
Now working as composer , producer, and violinist in all areas of the creative arts and entertainments fields as required, branching into ballet and contemporary dance, education development work, film, performance, production, promotion, radio, soundtrack, theatre, TV and more.
This includes collaboration with brother Stuart, for Australian singer Christine Anu, TV performance with L.A. Legend Kim Fowley, and recording with Ben Vaughn ( Third Rock from the Sun Soundtrack).
Trading as Mild Frontiers, 2004 saw involvement with the asylum seeker and refugee community in Glasgow, and the direction and production of an event in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall to celebrate the visit to the city of His Holiness the Dalai Lama ( An evening with 17 acts from around the world, and over 200 performers.)
Returned to Ayrshire, living rural, and completed film and music productions.
Now in 2014 Trading as Mild Frontiers, David Crichton now has music products available on iTunes. 11 upbeat pop tunes for the mature young, and the young mature.
