a list of 10 titles
This is what I called straight up thriller's. Dark, moody movies with little or no fighting or huge shoot ups. They don't need to have a twist but I think the best one haves, but they don't have a twist just to have a twist. You also don't exactly know how the story would go or what the characters do. Honorable mentions are Donnie Darko and The Sixth Sense.

a list of 270 titles
This list shows best picture winners and nominees from 1990-2012, and also how the Oscars would have looked like if the IMDB users decided who should win and be nominated. Its basically a list of Top 5 movies each year from 90-12 on IMDB.

The list is in chronological order from 1990-2012.
From 1990-2008 it was 5 nominees.
From 2009-2012 it was 10 nominees.
The actual Oscars stands first and then the IMDB Oscars. When you read downwards.

If the IMDB users had decided the Oscars Quentin Tarantino had won 2 Oscars. (Reservoir Dogs, Inglorious Basterds) And nominated for Kill Bill Vol.1 and Pulp Fiction.
Christopher Nolan would have won for Memento, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Inception. Also The Prestige and The Dark Knight Rises would have been nominated.

Four times the IMDB winner and the actual winner are the same. These are: 1991 for Silence of the lambs, 1993 for Schindlers list, 2006 for The Departed and in 2007 for No Country for old men.
