Overrated like hell - only watched season one
First of all I apologize for my bad English, so don't wonder if some sentences contain spelling mistakes...
When I was start watching the show I was really full of anticipation because I really liked the Fargo movie and the rating on IMDb is incredible good. But I got really disappointed, at the beginning (like episode 1-3), I thought it was kind of okay because the acting of Allison Tolman and Colin Hanks really surprised me positively. But also there I was really wondering how much of the show was inspired by Breaking Bad. Began with the clumsy and nervous Martin Freeman, who has really always bad luck. The phone call with Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) was really shocking because the kind wording and spelling was like exactly the same like Walter White in Breaking Bad. And this character got even worse. Because he turns in barely one year from a clumsy looser salesman, into a head-bitten genius and suddenly (however this was possible in only 1 year) rich bad guy. This was really too much inspired by Breaking Bad and so it was no surprise that it failed. The other characters were okay but also just not really suspenseful. Malvo(Billy Bob Thornton) was even for me (and I really do not pay much attention on how realistic a movie is) too unrealistic. He can pull a men on his tie out of the office, while colleagues are watching and he got filmed by a camera. And what happens nothing, the police can not identify him just because he puts glasses on and babbles some bible phrases ? And nobody who saw him calls the police ? Like for example the guy from the mailing office who did not want give him the package ? And then he has even superpowers: He can shot down a whole gang of criminals, who were even watched by the FBI, without getting at least injured ? That was really to much and it did not give any additional value to the story... Next thing that really annoyed me was that really every women has to get pregnant ? What shall that show us ? That they do not use condoms in Bemidji ? That was really senseless and was a very very poor reference to the original movie. The final episode was the negative peak of the show. It adds plot holes and really not logical or rational decisions from nearly every available character: Lester(Martin Freeman)is a rich cold hearted super-genius, who can even shot the immortal Malvo. Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) scraps all of his jobs just to kill Lester, but not in the elevator. No he waits until he is in Bemidji and the FBI hunts him. Otherwise it would not have been suspenseful. Then he even gets the phone number + codes from the FBI so he can stop them from coming to Bemidji just by calling then from HIS cell-phone. The two FBI guys are even more dumb then the police which is really a competition. And then Grimly(Colin Hanks) who seems to be the safest and most feared of all characters. Kills Malvo on his own (without knowing that he got injured), and he does not even got arrested for that. NO he gets a award for his self-justice... So all in all I can understand that some people like the show, because some dialogs are really funny and some characters are also kind of funny but especially in the end the story gets plot holes like a swiss cheese(so we call it in Germany ;-))
