Two nudie cuties in one.
24 May 2009
This little gem offers two slightly different nudie cutie films in one movie wrapper. The first part of the film we follow the husband played in the film as he spends his Sunday afternoon at the Paris Burlesque Show. Many beautiful woman performing a variety of acts seen through the eyes of the husband who never fails to deliver one cheesy internal monologue after another. The climax of the first part of the film is Virginia Bell whose beauty and voluptuous body offer a magnificent visual treat. The second part of the nudie cutie is seen through the eyes of the wife who we follow to her favorite nudist camp retreat. Unlike some similar nudist films of the time, this part is kept reasonably short with glimpses of nude woman doing activities in their birthday suit under Florida sun. Another top heavy starlet makes her appearance here, the beautiful Ann Howe. Lullaby of Bareland is fun little nudie cutie who offers us a burlesque show and nudist camp movie in under and hour. Several gorgeous woman make an appearance topless. The plot of the husband and wife who each go sneaking off to find adult pleasures separately is an entertaining addition make it worth viewing for fans of such films of the time.

Snake Dancer (1976)

Exotic Dancing and Semi-Biography
23 May 2009
I'm always on the look out for a good sleazy film and "Snake Dancer", sounded about right. Biography of South African woman Glenda Kemp shows us a bit of life as a child and some of the adversities with family and those close to her as she pursued doing what she enjoyed best, dancing. The film follows Glenda briefly as a child and moves on quickly to adulthood just enough to get a background of key points in her life. We watch as her love for dancing grows throughout the film and her experiences shape her character into the woman she becomes. There are many good scenes of Glenda performing her exotic dance routines on stage in front of audiences. I thought the biographical portions of the film were shot quite nicely and I felt for Glenda as she fought adversity to follow her dreams against adversity. The exotic dancing were very good with using puppets and snakes with much ingenuity and energy. The only thing that I didn't like about the film was the last minute of the film. I won't spoil it for you but lets just say I had expected a better ending than the one portrayed in the film.

Horrible, Don't bother.
1 February 2006
Very unimaginative, terrible script, awful acting, lack of any substance even remotely humorous and for only an 80 minute film it seemed like eternity. Seems the only purpose of this film was for the film maker to insult and belittle several well known movies in a frustrating failing attempt, that were much better than any film this film maker would ever produce. It appears that the film maker is saying in this film, "since I will never make a good film I will just create parodies of some and not be funny at it at the same time".I have seen many movies and I would have to say this is one of the worst films I've ever seen. I only write this because I am upset that I will never get those 80 minutes of my life back.

This movie will move you.

Charlie Kaufman writer and Jim Carey as lead, I had high hopes going in to seeing this film. I was not disappointed. This movie met and greatly exceeded my expectations. This is a hauntingly beautiful movie about relationships and experiences. Jim Carey and Kate Winslet deliver superb performances as a likable couple that I could relate to. They are supported by a wonderful cast of colorful characters that add different textures of love, relationships and experiences. What makes this film stand far above the rest is its original plot of "what if memory were erasable" and the filming effects that take on the journey of the protagonist as he experiences this first hand. This movie has some spectacular moments that anyone who has been in love will be touched with a sense of connection to the characters.

Fantastic Movie!

I saw this on a whim knowing nothing about the film. I was pleasantly surprised. I am a big fan of dark comedies and this film delivers laugh after laugh. Some scenes I laughed myself to tears. Casey Affleck delivers a wonderful performance as the the helpless, pitiful likable protagonist. And all the characters that surround him deliver great roles with everyone adding their own bits of funny pieces to this comedic puzzle. From the Yugo cars that seem to be everywhere in the movie to the climatic ending there are plenty of laughs in this one with many great rewind moments. This movie is definitely not for everyone but if you like subtle humor, odd characters and dark sense of humor, you should find the movie appealing to you.
