My Silent Partner (2006)
Decent movie but a little predictable at times.
This movie has a good line up of characters. It has a decent plot about a policewoman going through a divorce. She needs an attorney. She has no money to find a good one and finds herself being represented by a smug attorney who claims to be doing it because he feels bad for a mother in her situation. Unfortunately he turns out to be a mob attorney who starts to extort her for information.
The ending was almost expected but not fully the way I thought it would go. Decent movie but a little predictable at times.
I recommend it as a good flick to watch on a lazy Saturday afternoon. One of those movies to pop up some popcorn and snuggle up to your spouse or loved one.
Jaianto robo (1967)
Come Giant Robot
I was just a in Kindergarten when I first seen this show. I remember I had to be in front of the television everyday to watch it. Along with Speed Racer.
I remember running around with my friends and yelling into my watch, "Come Giant Robot".
This show was one of the best memories at that age. Fortunately for me I have most of the episodes on video tape. They aren't the best copies in the world, but when I sit down and watch them....boy do the memories flow.
One of my most favorite episode is where the bad guys steal the watch that controls Giant robot and I believe they clone Johnny Sokko. They use the clone who orders Giant robot to destroy things. At one point in the episode, Giant Robot is ordered to destroy the good guys. A very emotional part happens as the real Johnny Sokko is looking at his best friend Giant Robot picking up something to throw to destroy him. Johnny Sokko began to cry, and ask giant robot to do the right thing.....the robot has a hard time throwing the item at the good guys and freezes...until one shocking ending....
Needless to say...it has a happy ending...
I give this show one of my highest ratings...hey the special effects weren't the best, but it was the 70's!!!
The Dukes of Hazzard (2005)
Just the Good IL' Boys
Well I must say, I went to this movie not expecting much out of it. To my surprise, it wasn't as awful as I thought it was going to be. In fact, it is the only remake I have seen so far...that tries to hold true to the original storyline.
Jessica Simpson does a fine job of playing Daisy Duke...but a Cahterine Bach she will never be! I honestly think Burt Renyolds would have made a better Rosco then boss...but hey he did a decent job.
The movie had a lot of laughs and is very enjoyable....if you don't get to caught up in the fact that there are no Cameos from the original cast.
Johnny Knoxville (Luke) and Seann William Scott (Bo), do a wonderful job of playing the Duke boys...brought into the 21st century.
One of the things that troubled me about this movie when I saw it advertised was the southern flag issue....the very trademark of the General Lee....and believe me...I am not getting into a political debate....nor will I say it's right or wrong...because frankly I really don't know all the issues....but I know there was a lot of controversy behind it over the years....but when you see how well they cover the issue, hopefully you will be as surprised and impressed as I was....with the key part being when they are stuck in traffic on their way to Atlanta...I loved that part!
Only one thing troubled me about this whole movie.....Willie Nelson...hey you the man...but hey man...I am sorry and I mean no personal offense to you...but don't ever try to sing that song again....sometime folks just aren't meant to sing certain songs....
I would say...if you can get past the hang ups...such as no cameos...and understand it's a remake...not the original...this can be a very good movie for you....
If you can't get past the whole remake issue...this movie is not for you...
Worth seeing but a bitter pill for fans of the first one to swallow...
John Depp (Wonka) is the key most important part of this movie...along with the kid who plays Charlie (Freddie Highmore)...
Together they make the movie worth seeing...BUT...if you are a fan of the original.... there is a high chance you will be disappointed in this one to a point....
I think this movie is best seen...without having seen the original....in fact if you can try to put the original out of your mind...and pretend you are seeing this for the first time...it's decent....
It has some pretty funny jokes in it....the Oompa Loompa...songs are more modern..but are very hard to understand at times....
On a scale from one to ten...I give this a 5.5, because it's good at times...and has it's moments....but since I was a fan of the original...it was also at times a bitter pill for me to swallow...
Not all remakes can come close to the original but...
This one sure tries. **SPOILERS WITHIN**
Now as a child, I grew up dancing around to the original music. Run around with my toy machine gun with my hat turned backwards. Pretending I was T.J.
Okay this movie starts out, we see a swat team fighting a bunch of Bank robbers. These bank robbers remind me of the incident that happened several years ago, where the police had trouble stopping them because they wore full body protection.
Anyway, Colin Farrel (Jim Street) and his partner Gamble (Jeremy Renner) ignore a stand down order and attack the bank robbers. Injuring a hostage. They both have it out with their Captain. Gamble quits SWAT, and Street starts doing cage work (the cleaning, and polishing thing).
Things are getting bad in the city, and Sgt. Hondo (Samuel L. Jackson) is called in to set up a super team. Naturally he picks Street to come back, and be part of the team. Along with the likes of Deke (LL Cool J) and TJ McCabe (Josh Charles).
Well Hondo forms a group of five SWAT members, plus himself. They train, and pass a hard test. They are assigned to transport a prisoner who is one bad dude. He offers 100 million dollars to anyone who will get him out. This of course brings every crack pot in the city out.
It is almost non stop action. The music has a little bit of tone in it, that reminds you of the song from the show. This with Them humming the song in one scene, and some cameos by some of the original cast. This movie makes the grade.
Steve Forrest who played in the original, is one of the ones who sticks out the most. At the end of the movie he is in a small segment and that to me, was like passing the torch on to the next generation.
I must say I was a little disappointed what they did with one of the characters, who ironically has the same name as one of my favorites from the original. Those writers need to come up with better angles for this characters. Yes I can do better. Give me the chance!!
This aside the movie was pretty good. I give this a 7 out of 10. Decent flick, above average.
The Karate Kid (1984)
A timeless classic, that has a meaning within the meaning!!
This movie is just awesome. The story of a kid who is taken from his comfort zone, and dragged across many states. He is placed within a world he is not use to.
He makes an enemy with the towns most notorious Karate experts, because he falls in live with the leaders x-girlfriend. These Karate experts unfortunately go to the same school as him. They beat him to a pulp day after day.
At the same time he befriends an old man who not only teaches him how to fight these karate experts. But he teaches him the meaning of life, friendship, Karate (and above all)love. A love that goes beyond that of a boyfriend-girlfriend. The type love a father should give his son.
This is a timeless classic, that has a meaning within a meaning. The meaning seems to be, if someone believes in you and you believe in them and yourself. You can soar as high as you want. But the meaning within the meaning is: if you stop and look beyond the appearance of something, you may just find that there is something special hidden in us all. Deep, I know. But fact of life.
I give this movie 9 out of 10. Excellent flick!!
Scary Movie 2 (2001)
Just down right bad. Some movies are best with no sequels.
I saw the first part; Scary movie, and thought this may be worth seeing. But when I saw this movie, I was shocked. I must say it is just down right bad. Tori Spelling gives one of the worst performances of her career. Don't waist your money on it.
I give this a big fat 0
Jason X (2001)
Worst movie I have ever seen. I Would not even suggest renting if its in the free section.
Just Plain bad. I Would not even suggest renting if its in the free section. Even if someone offers to loan you this movie, refuse.
It is horrible, with no value to it. Had some of the worst plot lines a movie ever came out with.
I give it a less than a big fat zero!!
The Wraith (1986)
Revenge has never been sweeter!!
I actually seen this movie in its release at the movie theater. I was working as an usher at a local movie house, at the ripe age of 16. I got to see movies for free then. Boy do I miss that benefit. I just rented it again, after all these year. I must say it hasn't lost its edge.
Charlie Sheen Plays a teenager killed because he is in love with the same girl that a local nut case is. He then returns as a spirit out for revenge, and revenge has never been sweeter. He comes back with a super fast car with amazing abilities. He challenges his killers to road races, killing them each off in a well deserved manner.
I give this movie a 6 out of 10.
Revenge of the Nerds (1984)
A movie that defined a generation!
***Spoilers within*** **Spoiler alert**
This is a movie that defined a generation. It is a film that brought to light the true meaning of geek, nerd, and many more words that described the unique group of people who were laughed at, picked on while going to school and doing their thing.
To make a long story short, a group of out casts form their own fraternity. The thing is, they are "NERDS". The "popular" group picks on the nerds with very little pity, and tries to destroy the efforts at fitting in. That is until the worm turns and the nerds strike back.
Its a laugh a minute and as with many of the 80's movies shows the under dog overcoming odds, and the bullies.
I can relate to this movie, because I was a nerd. Yes you heard it right. I was a nerd. After watching this movie and some other movies like TEEN WOLF, and KARATE KID. I realized being a nerd wasn't so bad. In fact I am proud to be a nerd. I made friends that I am still in touch with to this day.
NERDS, NERDS, NERDS!!!
I have to give this movie a 7 out of 10.
