Best paranormal show since X-files
Ever since X-Files was canceled I've been missing a truly great paranormal/horror/thriller show. If you liked the early X-files, when each episode was a mini quest working within a bigger story-arch this show is for you. This show can even make you uncomfortable in the dark! It's just that good. Most of all it's the dynamic between Ackles and Padalecki, they just seem to really click, and that shines through, constantly giving each other witty comebacks and ball-busting (no pun intended). The setting is really ambient in it's dark and hostile environments, just like the good old X-files. I was and I am a fan of the X-files, so this naturally the show I compare this with, but Supernatural is ONLY show that even come close to delivering such a quality show. Dark, ambient, funny but still manages not to make the show seem silly. Now Im just hoping the show wont loose it's good thing by loosing itself in gigantic story-arch, and messing all the mini-episodes. Who want to see season 6&7 of X-files again...
The Extra (2005)
A nobody in the movie biz tries to move upward, but simply isn't
Certainly didn't expect this sort great entertainment when I sat down to watch "The Extra". With only 200 votes on IMDb, you're just not expecting anything. This movie really had it's on heart, it's on soul. With the sort of Hawaiian wacky ambient music streaming and the stunningly cute girl starring as Claudia, it's definitely worth your time. Short summary: Some guy with silly Irish like accent comes to the big movie city, tries to make the big time. The beginning starts with the end, though it's not all that clear all the time where you stand in the chronology. Doesn't matter if you don't like this sort of film.
If it stands between this and "Troja" (or any big time Hollywood picture) go with the Extra!
You'll love it
This is a great movie. Am not usually into this kind of movies, but this ones different. I had my doubts before seeing, seemed like chickflick :) It was usually women who told me about, but no guy will hardly admit to having seen it...
There are plenty of others that already have gone through the plot so I will just say that you won't regret this film. I just went around smiling, for no apparent reason, hours after this movie. And the leadacress, Audrey, well she is quite something. Especially when she get one of her ideas, you just wanna hug her. Im not kiddin' See it.
Ghost Ship (2002)
Nice thrill, although not nearly a masterpiece
Well, I wouldn't totally slander this movie, as many other of IMDB reviewers have. I found it quite exciting, well predictable but in a sort of good way. The story isn't at all advanced. Merry good crew goes to salvage a long lost ship. Founds gold and everyone goes mad with goldfever. Although it's the devils comrade that does the bad things. But it's good filming. A bit gory from time to time, but also thrilling.
I sat on nedles a few times, I that's not a lot of horror movies that can do that for me! It's a classical ghost story. But no masterpiece and doesn't "expand" your mind in any way. And the last ship scen is really badly done, they're not even trying to make it look real. But then again, maybe that's the point since it isn't :)
Boat Trip (2002)
a funny film to rent
Well, I thought this movie was pretty funny. Two straight guys on a gay cruise. Which they don't know when they board. It's not exactly a masterpiece of a comedy. Cuba Gooding does what does best, plays around acting like an idiot. But in this scenery it works, he is kind of girly. Just don't expect to much of it, and it's quite enjoyable. When I went to see it didn't have any expectations, and ended of feeling good about myself (im not gay by the way, although it might sound like it). The swedish swimsuit team was a bit much though. It might have been funnier if they actually spoken swedish. But to summarize, it's a good movie to rent with your buddies!
