Good Luck Charlie (2010)
I recently watched an episode of Good Luck Charlie, and I have to say I am very disappointed, especially since Bridgit Mendler, who was a special guess star on several other Disney Shows like Wizards of Waverly Place and Jonas, was starring in it. The show is about a fifteen year old girl named Teddy Duncan (Bridgit Mendler) and her family who recently had a new member added to their family (a baby girl named, Charlotte, aka. Charlie.) Since Teddy will be an adult and busy with her own life by the time Charlie is older she decides to make Charlie a video diary of what life is like for the family and how they sort out their problems to help Charlie in the future. At the end of every episode, Teddy talks into the camera and reflects on what she learned today and gives Charlie some advice, she then signs off saying, "Good Luck Charlie." Bridgit Mendler is okay at what she does to the show. I wouldn't say she's great, but at the same time she's now awful. What bothers me is the fact that is is playing at fifteen year old girl. Bridgit is currently eighteen. The age thing bothers me because Bridgit looks eighteen, so having and eighteen year old play a fifteen year old is a little weird. The character Teddy is a bit boring and tasteless. There is nothing different from her than any other Disney girl character, personality wise. There are only two characters who I actually like and they are Amy Duncan and Ivy Wentz. Amy is the mother in the show. I think she's great and very funny. She adds a lot of humor to the show which is nice. I think a lot of parents can sort of relate to her while watching this with their kids. Ivy is Teddy's best friend. She's also pretty funny and adds a lot of light humor to the show. All the other characters are pretty annoying. So overall this show is pretty boring and nothing really original came out of it.
Shake It Up! (2010)
This show is just painful to watch
The first time I watched this show I couldn't believe how awful it was. I personally think Bella Thorne (Cece) and Zendaya Coleman (Rocky) do not deserve to be on that show, simply because they are not talented dancers or actresses. Every character on the show is annoying and there isn't one character on the show who I actually like. The show is also pretty insulting if you think about it. They show two young girls (who can't really dance) getting the opportunity to be apart of a famous dance show, easily. They never really tried hard. I don't really think that's a good example for kids, saying that one day your dreams will just come true. In reality, you have to work your butt of to get something like that. (Maybe not Bella Thorne and Zendaya Coleman though) I also find the characters Gunther and Tinka extremely irritating. Disney is basically making fun of people who have accents. There accents are annoying and so fake its not funny. Overall, I hate this show. I don't know what Disney what thinking when making this show because even kids are finding these shows insulting and stupid.
