Orphan Black (2013)
First season is awesome
I have never given a show 10 before. But this is just excellent. Great actors, a VERY original story, never seen in a series before. There is mystery, humor, action, drama, suspense, and the sci-fi element is there too. There is also the usual cop vs bad guys, but it's only a sub plot and I really enjoy watching every scene in the show. The story is pleasantly unpredictable, and I was in for loads of surprises in every episode.
The only thing missing is MORE. This first season consists of ten episodes, 45 minutes. That's simply not enough for me. I want more Orphan Black.
I don't want to spoil any of the mystery, all I can say is watch this, give it a chance and you will be in for a ride, never seen on TV before.
Very good, but too short....
I enjoyed this show, mostly because of the story. But the acting is also good, and production really OK.
The plot is simple, and yet surprising. A spaceship arrives from earth to a new planet, and from there it is all about survival. I won't spoil the story here.
The characters are developing nicely over time. I missed a bit of exploration, but I realized that with limited resources in the "camp", they couldn't just explore the whole planet in a day.
"Outcasts" only lasted one season (8 episodes), and that was a shame. If there had been a second season I would have watched it with pleasure...
Started good, but something very bad happened...
The first two seasons of this show was watchable, a bit boring but otherwise a good show, great characters, good actors, some interesting stories. And the production is alright considering.
But what happened to the writers/producers after season 2? NO EXPLANATIONS! A major cliffhanger, and they killed off 2/3 of the characters on the show. The ones I actually liked most. With no explanations whatsoever.
The cliffhanger is still hanging there. I repeat: NO EXPLANATIONS!!! I really, really hate it when a character leaves a show, and the reason is not mentioned at all ...
The 3. season just went on with a new storyline, that really didn't catch me.
I would give season one and two 7 or 8 stars, if i weren't for the last episode that ruined the whole show. So I gave it 5, very generous actually... I had to stop watching, now you have been warned.
The best shows always gets canceled
I would give this show 9 out of 10, if it had a decent ending. But all the good shows these days gets canceled.
Season one and two was some of the best sci-fi/action i have seen in a long time. Everything was impressive, the music, the acting, the production.
But as with many other shows it got canceled at a HUGE cliffhanger, and with an ending like that the show is now worthless.
Two seasons totally destroyed and rendered useless. I feel so sorry for the actors and writers, they were all so excellent. I also feel sorry for myself, having wasted my time for nothing.
X-Men: First Class (2011)
I was very disappointed ...
I was so disappointed. I saw the high ratings here on IMDb, before I went to see the movie. But i can only give 5 out of 10. Not because of the special-effects, they were kind of cool. But the acting and the make-up (especially Mystique and Beast), and the costumes were awful.
I have been following X-Men since the start. This movie is the worst of them, not saying that "X-Men:Origins" was good, but this one was even worse.
Really bad acting first of all. Crazy plot holes, and just a really boring plot. Nothing was like the good old comics I used to read.
I hated Mystique, she was so much better in X-2. I hated Wolverine, why was he even in it ? I hated Shaw, he was nothing like the original character, and Frost had a way to small part to play.
I didn't like ANY of the characters actually. Mostly because of the bad acting, but also the fact that this movie does not follow the comics at all. I know that the other movies kind of prevented that, but with this one it just got worse.
I really shouldn't have seen this in the cinema, my advice is wait until it is out on DVD, if You REALLY have to see it.
And the last thing: I can not understand how this movie got rated this high, unless someone got paid to do it.
This is my first review so bear with me, thanks.
