I live somewhere in Ohio and just graduated from a college somewhere in Ohio too!
I have a horse, a dog, two cats, three goats, a rabbit and a turtle.
My fav. movies are... WALL-E, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Juno, Atonement, the Harry Potters, Fox and the Hound, Titanic, Pearl Harbor, and Saw I, II, III, and IV etc. Basically anything that's good. I really like romances and comedies
Hot Rod (2007)
Good, but only for people of certain humor
My friends and I went to see this movie on opening day because we love Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer (the three men behind this movie). We went to a very very early showing and there was only one other person in the theater and he walked out half way through. However, my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed it. With this kind of movie, you have to have a certain kind of humor to enjoy it. Some parts were extremely funny while some parts were just plain bizarre. However, my friends and I liked all of it. So, before you go and see it and automatically judge it as horrible, remember that it takes a certain kind of person to really enjoy the works of The Lonely Island.
Good but people are making too big of a sour deal
After seeing the movie twice, I can honestly say it was a 9 out of 10. People seem to be making a huge deal because the movie is so different from the book, which it is. But personally I always feel that when you go to see a movie based off of a book, you need to forget about the book and just enjoy the movie. Otherwise you're bound to find little things here and there.
When I saw the movie for the first time I didn't fully enjoy it. I was extremely disappointed with everything they had cut and changed. Then my younger sister saw it again and told me it was better the second time. I had a friend who wanted to see it so we went together and my sister was right. The second time, since I knew how different it was, I was able to sit back and enjoy it.
Another thing that is bothering me is how everyone says that Ed Speleers is a terrible actor. Now, even though I'm 17 and think he's extremely good-looking, I am not biased when I say he's a good actor. Sure he hasn't had a lot of experience (and maybe his one crying scene was a little lame) but honestly, the kid's a good actor. He carries along the film very well. The only thing I thought which might have made him seem lacking was his dialogue and then that's not really his fault.
I am a true book fan, having read both Eragon and Eldest twice long before the movie was even announced, but honestly, to really judge the movie you need to forget about the book, pretend it never existed, and enjoy the movie.
The Da Vinci Code (2006)
Reviews were the letdown, movie was excellent!
I was at the Louvre this summer when they were filming this movie and it made me interested in it. Not enough to read the book or see the movie but still interested. Then I saw the trailers for it on TV and became excited for the day it came out. I love movies with clues and suspense. My mom and I went on opening night to see it and after seeing the movie, it makes me want to read the book! I'm not Catholic but I'm still a very religious person. I think that everyone who's even just a little religious should come see this movie, and when they do, they need to remember that it's fiction. That's what all the controversy is about. As long as people do that, they will really enjoy this movie, just as I have.
The Phantom of the Opera (2004)
I thought this movie was simply amazing! I was a little afraid to see it since I'm so in love with the stage musical and I admit it's nothing compared to the play but I wasn't disappointed. For a little advice, if you've seen it on stage, completely forget that. If you try to compare it to the play, you'll hate it. Just forget about the play and just watch it as if it's something new that you've never seen before. The acting is simply amazing and the way they changed some of the scenes to fit the big screen was magnificent! After seeing this movie, I couldn't see any other actors/ actresses as the characters. The colors of the costumes and theater was wonderful and the songs were as rich as ever!
Better than the first two in some ways...
This movie I personally thought was better than the first two. It had a lot more humor, better filming, and yes, almost every single guy was A LOT hotter! Malfoy, Harry, Ron, the Weasley twins... Need I mention more? I think in some ways this movie was better but in other ways it wasn't. One thing I didn't like was that there wasn't as much music in the background and it didn't follow the books as much as the first two did. There were also a lot of scary scenes. The first two were okay for little kids but I definitely wouldn't recommend this one! I'm even debating whether to take my 9 year old sister or not! I definitely think this was an awesome movie and I hope you think the same!!!!!!
One of the best movies of the summer!!!
I read Holes in 5th grade so when I heard they were doing a movie I was ecstatic! Of course, being my busy self, I didn't get chance to see the movie in theaters. Holes was at the drive-in just out of town but, alas, We were just too busy. I was surprised to hear that all my friends had seen it and not one of them had invited me! They all said it was good but I've read great books that have made crappy movies so I was definately worried.
Suddenly the perfect opportunity to see it came. It was out that week and my parents were going on a cruise and I was left to babysit. My sister, who is 9, and I watched it and absolutely loved it! I then took it to the other people I was babysitting's house and their kids, 9 and 4, liked it too. Even my parents loved it and they're deffinately movie critics. Overall, I recommend this movie is for anyone who understands family morale and and loves a hilarious cast! This movie should be on your top 5 "to See" list!!!!
