I watched every episode of the original Battlestar Galactica, and so I am
a position to say that Glen A. Larson can't write his way out of a paper
bag. Interesting characters, good special effects, great music -- all in
the service of this inane plot.
The new Battlestar is infinitely better -- but still flawed. For one thing, they should have used the original theme music more often. For another, why don't they just flood the Galactica with phosgene gas (or whatever it was called) and kill all the Cylon spies. This is a major plot hole they will have to deal with if they continue the series.
Better than Enterprise. Not as good a Firefly.
People say that we've had enough of silly love songs. But from what I've
seen, I say it isn't so.
Best line in the film:
(quasiquote from memory)
"I'm in love. Why are you laughing?" "I was afraid it was something worse." "Worse that the awful pain of being in love?" "Right."
Lara: We are getting closer to the Cradle of Life.
Guide (amazed): How do you know?
Lara: I feel it in the crystal!
The only trouble is that the guide is taking her to the Cradle of Life, and that's what happens when you go somewhere. You get closer to the place you are going. Did the guide think that without a crystal, when you go somewhere you get further away?
Dumb, dumb movie.
