Not every movie turns to a successful series. As Christopher Nolan once said, "how many successful movies have even made it to third installments?" when asked the question about whether there will be the third part of his TDK series.
And once We thought Nolan can be the Kubrick of this generation.
Nolan, Being already handy with the Sci-fi genre showed his potential with his trademark vision in Memento and Inception. he just darkened the story in The dark knight. So with his past performances this movie "Interstellar" definitely had some hypes and high expectations with it. Nolan on a sci-fi about space. Personally i have loved the movies of Nolan, everyone, watched them all. but this one disappointed me. Nolan just couldn't handle the story. he tried to use the effects that he dreamed off. it was like Mark Webb's Amazing spiderman. Interstellar is a movie that tries to teach the Children and Newbies about the theories of Einstein and Hawking in easier way (It's a fiction additionally.) and the working mechanism of Blackhole and other space particles. He demonstrated a good definition of the fourth dimension, "Time", but why didn't he focused much on the Murph at her dying moments, she should have a little more conversation with her father, with whom she met after a life time. other than that, the stranger than fiction demonstration of the imaginative world inside black-hole(that behind the book-self). and the unpresentable love chemistry of Cooper and Brand. I knew that Nolan would leave the story on a loose note, like he had done with Inception(the spinning totem), but i never thought even his ending would be this weak point. This story was like watching a parody of the movies of Kubrick(of some really tricky scenes), Spielberg (the high budget actions and effects) and Cameroon (figure that out yourself) its still watchable though, if its in 3D.
Finest Milestone for Nepali Cinema
This one just is an ultimate classic for a Nepali movie. Though it is a Limbu movie, narrowing it down even further in an already small group of Nepali Audience, as a view point from a Local in Nepal, it's a joy to watch something of this level when the entire movie industry is ruined by the plagiarism and other not so notable movie works. Nabin Subba does a fine job. the movie seemed so simple throughout the screening, something that is found rarely in Nepali movie. the acting cast is good, though i haven't heard about any of the main character anywhere, they did a fine job portraying the Nepali society. If any foreigners want to get their minds into the fine circle of the rich Nepali culture (especially the eastern Rai/Limbu culture), then this movie is the best one. it also depicts some taboos of the society. for a Nepali movie it should hit a 11 in a scoreline of 10.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Just a Beautiful Long Experience
Whenever i see Shawshank Redemption at the top of the IMDb top 250, it gives such a beautiful experience. When i just started following good movies, and seeing this movie at the top, i watched it. well i liked this one in the first. but a whole world has turned around. I have watched whole lot of movies, that varies from that of Hollywood to other world movies which are just great. But still till present, Shawshank has not lost any of its aura. it is a beautiful experience watching this movie. many would review this movie as over-hyped, overrated and all. i think they are just trying to describe cinematic experience, but this movie is a Life experience. So that is a point where they differ. The one who says Shawshank is overrated, might not say the same about The Green Mile(same director and author). I have always admired the works of Stephen king, but his works just seemed too much for movies. Even Stanley Kubrick couldn't quite actually cover The Shining. We had to wait until Frank Darabont to get a good portrayal of king's work. and the wait was finally worth it. The green mile is the next, though it isn't as much high on the rating as this one. Just i think this movie was one of many which increased my interest in watching movies. And about the Top position in IMDb, it is absolutely worth it.
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
The lows of Scorsese-Caprio team
If you are really bored, This movie can really entertain you. Typical Scorsese's entertainment though. But if you really are a serious movie watcher, then (if u forgot the martin is the director) this movie will bore you. with the senseless thinking of the main character. may be Jordan Belfort was no different. He seems to be like quite a freak. Di Caprio has given quite a performance here, taking on drugs, *beep* whores all over. but still this movie was only better than Shutter island of the duos works, The departed stands high above and then there is the aviator. So this was one of the lowest points of the Scrosese- Caprio. I hope they will get better in the future, but thinking about the topic they chose in this one, i don't think Belfort was the issue that should have been screened, but nobody can do that better than this pair. but this is not what you expect from them. but may be this movie will seem much better after some years. and for Oscars i hope Di Caprio's Oscar doesn't comes out of this movie. All i can say, he can do better than this. A 7/10 for me.
