completely unique 'sequal', 8 July 2016
8/10

Had no idea what to expect going into this, and i think thats the best way to do it,

Goodman is great, and the movie poses some great questions of 'what would you do' in the same situation, the main character does all the things you think you would, and the end, depending on how much you read up on the movie beforehand, is a great twist.

don't watch if you have just seen the word cloverfield in the title and are expecting something similar, I liked that movie, but this is something completely different.

again, if your are about to watch it, try not to read too much about it, the least you know the more you'll be surprised

not bad, 8 April 2014
7/10

was pleasantly surprised by this film, it's not great, and nothing about it is great, but pretty much all of it is pretty good, the story, the acting, the twists.

you'll be talking with whoever you watch this with or know has seen it what stage you would stop playing the game. Which is tricky because if you go so far it's difficult to turn back, which is the whole point.

was a little disappointed with the end, can't help but think 'YOU IDIOT!!!'

Well worth a watch if your into similar films, not much to hate about this in my opinion.

strange... but pleased there's more to come!, 11 August 2011
7/10

Good, strange film this.

it's tongue in cheek, live action straight out of the manga comics. You don't need to have seen any of the Manga series to tell where to origins of this film come from.

the flashbacks are done well, the story is strange but flows nicely, and there is a great soundtrack.

Looking forward to the next two films, as anyone who has seen this will confirm, it would have been a very annoying ending had this not already been planned to be a trilogy.

This film seems to have had a relatively big budget, according to IMDb and wiki, for the type of film it is, which is good to see.

Not enough laughs in this for me...

there's a couple of funny moments here, but over an hour and a half of a film it's just not enough.

Jonah Hill has lost too much wight to play a 'fat' character anymore. just doesn't work. He's either got to find a new character to play in films or put the bulk back on.

On a side note, i've just seen that the producer of this film, Neal Moritz, having just ruined the classic 'Prom Night', is also about to release a triple massacre of film in the next couple of years, by ruining total recall, battle royale, and starship troopers respectively...

Why Hollywood?... why?

The start of everything i love about horror films, 29 April 2011
9/10

A masked killer, gruesome deaths, twist revealing at the end. Awesome. like most Brava films.

Any fan of modern day slasher films or horror films in general need to watch some early giallo films, and this is a good place to start. I'm still making my way through the list of 60's, 70's and 80's giallo films, but this and Twitch of the death nerve would be the best i've seen so far, it's amazing how films normally credited for starting the slasher genre such as Halloween, black Christmas and Friday the 13th copied these films so much.

But this is where it really started. Yes Psycho and peeping tom were already about, but any slasher fan will know, as good as those films are, they are not slasher films.

if you haven't learned by now.., 3 March 2015
2/10

you will after this film..

you can spend hundred of millions, write a potentially good story, throw everything you have at effects, story, advertising, whatever you want. But at the end of the day, if you have Jaden smith in your film, you've got a sh*t film.

there's nothing you can do about it, if he was the kid in ET it would have flopped. Maybe the only way they could get will smith was to put his son in it too, but i'm sure daddy smith will realize after this that if he wants to continue having a reputable acting career it'll be without his son, (maybe not, as pursuit of happiness should have been enough.) Love is blind, and his dad can't see it, unfortunately, the rest of the world can.

As for the film... just don't bother.

Alien (1979)
of corse f'ing of course, 2 September 2016
8/10

Rewatched this movie just now,

there is absolutely no point in writing a review, because everyones already watched it, right?

but i will anyway..

Even 35 years on, this is still amazing, if it came out now, OK the alien would be laughed at, special affects is one thing that has improved, but the suspense and tension is something modern movies should really pay attention to.

watching this just makes me annoyed we've not had 35 years of progression, just copying and impersonating.

America! F*** Yeah!!!, 3 March 2015
2/10

There's Only one country on the world that could be in this films title, and would embrace this film. he's not just a sniper people, he's American!!! And do we care that he was a hate filled cowboy that thought killing was 'fun'? no because he is American and is killing non Americans, who are all evil and deserve to die... But Of course he's a good willed thought filled patriot that is doing everything for the good of his country.

I watched this as a standalone film, ignoring the guys biography, but it was just wasn't that good, I don't normally mind the American hero films, I liked lone survivor (and Rambo), but this just isn't any good, and unless you fly an American flag outside your house which you salute every day, your prob best not watching.

Almost ten years of waiting.... nooooooooo, 3 April 2014
5/10

Think most fans of the original would agree that although they really really wanted it to be... this just wan't that good...

The first film was ridiculous, but it worked, maybe because the jokes were better and the timing was right for the film, but here everything seems forced and jokes are repeated.

Think Will Ferrells best and funniest moments are long gone now, back with the original Anchorman and old school and elf.

not even the attempt of getting every Hollywood friend he has to join in a scene at the end saved this.

Shame.
