The Notebook (2004)
If you would normally watch a film like this, go ahead. My thoughts...
I've avoided watching this movie for many years but I caved and watched because it was so highly praised among many females.I personally am not a romance,chick-flick, kind of movie-goer,but if a movie is given such high credit; I must watch it to see what makes everyone swoon.
The acting was decent. The cinematography was great. The script typical.
I will not bash on how cliché this movie was because I understand that it is a chick-flick.Wanting it to be more than that is like asking your car to cook you breakfast; it's just not possible. The film was created for women/men who like romance and if that's not you,it's okay,it wasn't meant for you.
My greatest predicament with this movie was that it was bland. There could have been more spice to it.There could have been more complications that the characters had to face to be together and not just distance or parental disapproval.
When the film was over and I sat in front of my television watching the credits roll, I had to ask myself, "What made this movie so great to some people?" Don't get me wrong, I found the movie to be enjoyable, partially because I had nothing better to do,but for many this movie is on their top 10 list of favorites and I just don't see why. There are films out there that accomplish what this movie did and much more but yet this film is put on a pedestal.
I give this movie a 3/10. 1 point for creating a way to make women fantasize about a dream guy who can't have another woman but you. 1 point for the execution of the setting;very alluring. 1 point for Noah's dad.(he was awesome)
I will not watch this movie again. I recommend this film only to those who like romance movies.
