Very underrated film..., 25 April 2012
8/10

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

This was a blind watch for me as I saw a trailer of this film on YouTube and it looked very promising. Then I looked even further and after seeing some bad reviews from critics online, I start to doubt if this film will deliver well...

I must say, this was a surprise. It was very disturbing in so many ways. For a hybrid film that delivers the horror, sci-fi, drama and thriller genre well, and with low budget production, I thought this was unexpected. The performances were very realistic as you feel captivated as the characters develop during the course of the film. Michael Biehn and Milo Ventimiglia performed their best here. The violence and sexuality used here were very unsettling. The setting is very isolated and dark which works pretty well with the narrative. The cinematography is very beautiful and artistic while the special effects were very well done, especially for a low budget film. The soundtrack was very moving and blends well with the film. Xavier Gens' filmmaking proved he wasn't just a mindless action director (the disappointing Hit-man).

The film gives a moral message of how the world of humanity is falling apart, and it gives it in such a disturbing way, it will stick to you for a long time. The film started off as hopeless (in terms of the storyline) and ended it that way, so don't expect it to have a happy ending as you'll find the ending hard to swallow, which I probably understand why so many critics give this film bad reviews. It's a fresh, artistic, apocalyptic film that will leave you depressed yet moved.

Disturbing, Dark, and sometimes confusing..., 3 January 2012
8/10

I must say this was a big surprise, thinking a TV horror show would not last long and fail, but this was very well written. It's very dark, it's twisted, interesting shockers at the end of each episode, and some great performances from Jessica Lange and Evan Peters. It kept me interested all throughout. This was a true horror genre compared to the mediocre slasher films that released today. Not only is it terrifying but very emotional as we get more background from the other characters.

My only problem was some of the plot holes during the course of the story and i found it confusing sometimes, i don't know that it's the fact that i'm one of the younger audience that don't quite understand some points of the story, but i think this is more for the older audience.

Other than that, American Horror Story is one of the most successful horror TV shows that keeps people interested.

Warrior: better than The Fighter in my opinion..., 24 September 2011
9/10

I was blown away when i saw this film. It was very unexpected. With a theme like this (Sport Fighting films, I thought this film would be terrible like the film "Never Back Down" which was mediocre. But With great performances by Edgerton, Hardy and Nolte, this film worked very well.

Tom Hardy was very dark and mysterious and some his scenes were very powerful, same with Nick Nolte when he was drunk and aggressive. Joel Edgerton were very good too. Although the first half of the film was bit boring, it got very interesting when it came to the fight scenes, it was very intense and very entertaining, the ending was very emotional when the two brothers had to fight each other.

I thought this was better than The Fighter there were three great performances, loads of entertaining fight scenes and the family drama between the characters, the script was very well written. I recommend you to watch this in the cinema for that surround sound that will give you goosebumps when watching the fight scenes...

Clever script blended with spectacular special effects..., 29 June 2011
8/10

I was highly disappointed with Revenge of The Fallen and I thought the script for Dark Of The Moon would be similar to the other films of the franchise. But surprisingly, it was fresh. Ehren Kruger cleverly used the Apollo 11 event to create a Decepticon world invasion storyline with few interesting twists...

Although I was amazed with the explosive action and brilliant special effects used in the film, the film itself lacks a lot of things...

It started very well with the whole history of THE ARK and it crashed throughout the second half of the film. The humour was still silly like Revenge Of The Fallen. For example, Ken Jeong was appalling and Sam's parents (Kevin Dunn and Julie White) tried to be funny and humorous but failed. Replacing Megan Fox with Rosie Huntington Whiteley wasn't much of a big difference. However, she was certainly better than Fox. There was pointless scenes around the last half of the film that made it a really long, boring film. Also, Michael Bay tried hard making the slow motion action scenes very 3D and realistic which was a bit irritating and ruins the film. The main antagonists haven't performed well enough to create an epic ending to the franchise In another point of view, however, this film was fairly enjoyable and the script was written very well. The soundtrack used was fresh and bends well with the film. There was some scenes that just blew me away and the CGI special effects definitely deserves an Oscar nomination. Shia Labeouf, John Turturro, John Malkovich and Alan Tudyk was enjoyable to watch.

Overall, Michael Bay definitely improved this film compared to Revenge Of The Fallen by creating really amazing CGI effects and a really interesting script, but it wasn't enough to deliver a spectacular ending to the franchise...

Copy and Paste the first Hangover = Hangover 2, 28 May 2011
7/10

If you haven't seen the first film, you will love this film. the outrageous moments and the character's quotes will keep you laughing till the end. You would think that the whole script is well written and lots of comedy humor is added in the script which makes it a brilliant film.

However, If you've seen the first film, you will feel annoyed when you get out of the cinema. The whole structure of this film is very similar from the first. the beginning, the middle and the end. the elements used in the first film is also used in the second film. the script is similar to the first but with different scene, new characters, and some improvements

In my conclusion, i thought the film was brilliant, i just wasn't surprised and think that it would be better than the first film.

Fast Five (2011)

5th times the charm! Best Fast and Furious film yet!, 24 April 2011
9/10

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

When I saw all of the Fast and Furious films, I thought "that's it, there's no way this franchise can get any better!" All of the films are so stale that it's not that enjoyable and it's not a "full-adrenaline thrill ride" anymore. But this film, they went over the top but it works...

The first thing why this film is really good is the return of the characters from past films. A lot of familiar faces like Ludicrous, Tyrese Gibson and Matt Schulze. Gibson was funny as hell, his humour made everyone laugh and his hilarious quotes are just epic. I just loved the idea that they're all back together like a family.

Second, the hatred relationship between Dom and Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson)was one of the things I like about the film. Once they both saw each other during the chase scene, everyone in the audience was like "OHHHH!" you can tell that the feud between them was gonna be amazing. Dwayne Johnson portrayed Hobbs very well. It's like he wasn't given any script and the director told him, "JUST BE A BAD-ASS" that's how good he was! I was disappointed that the fight scene was a bit short but it was very aggressive and destructive. I would like to see Hobbs again in the next sequel.

Third, the elements of car chase scenes are changed in this film. There are some scenes that involves racing (like the police car race and the police vault scene) but they don't show most of the racing and mainly focused on the job which is to rob the richest man in Rio. I think it worked very well. The explosive and destructive scenes are just insane! The train scene was just crazy and the bridge scene with just total mayhem! I thought these scenes would never happen and looks too crazy but it was very entertaining, it just kept me on the edge of my seat.

*MASSIVE SPOILER. DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT* I was about to leave the cinema during the credits but when I saw this surprising post credit scene, I just thought I could give you an advice...

ALWAYS STAY TILL THE END OF THE FILM BECAUSE YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN NEXT!

Eva Mendes (as Monica Fuentes in 2 Fast 2 Furious) appears as a cameo and she reveals to Hobbs that Letty (Dom's girlfriend) is alive. I WAS LIKE HOLY S***! It definitely made me want to watch the next sequel. I'd like to see what Dom will do after he's with Elena and of course the "feud" between Dom and Hobbs.

Overall, There are definitely lots of improvements from previous films and it was an "entertaining, humorous action packed" film and I recommend this film to anyone because this could be one of the biggest films of the year. MUST WATCH!

Scream 4 (2011)

Long awaited film.and it was worth it..., 16 April 2011
9/10

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

I watched the first three films before watching this film and I thought all of them were so good I didn't think Scream 4 can beat them. After watching it, I came out of the cinema satisfied and shocked. There were so many things that was very excellent compared to the trilogy.

First, the beginning of the film were so unexpected. Although it was a bit silly that it kept carrying on, it certainly made me jump and worried about what's going to happen next. It was nice to see the recurring characters like Sydney, Dewey and Gale and I thought they did a really good job with the film, especially Sydney. She wasn't the same woman like before. She was never afraid and you can tell she's sick of the whole "Ghostface" murders. Gale was the same as always, seeking attention and fame. The new characters were very good as well like Hayden Panettiere, Emma Roberts and Rory Culkin. I thought Anthony Anderson was very funny in the film especially how he got killed. The funniest murder in the whole franchise even though it's not supposed to be funny. That certainly made me laugh. The murders was more gory than ever before. There's so much blood and guts in this film, I can't believe this a cert 15 film. I'm 16 so i was lucky enough to watch this film.

What was wrong about this movie was it was more of a comedy horror than a suspense horror. Although it has some jumpy scenes, there was more humour than chills. There was some scenes that quite was boring and sometimes pointless.

It was very clever that the film is about re-inventing the film and that's how the killers based their murders, by following how the first film occurred. It is certainly the best horror i have seen in a while since horror sequels and remakes these days are terrible (like A Nightmare On Elm Street...)it was certainly worth the wait. Like what Sydney Prescott said in the film, "You forgot the number one rule about remakes. Never f*** with the original."
