a list of 206 titles
❝ I always seem to get beamed away to the realms within the well-crafted motion pictures coming from Asia. I take part of that time and place intensively, sitting back and enjoy the ride with the ever-present psychological brilliance. I have developed a huge interest of what the cinema in Asia has to offer, and what you see here are 206 carefully selected favourites of what I've seen so far. Since I don't have the time to watch as much cinema as I used to, I'll put a few titles up here that are yet to be seen, which also serves as a reference for you. I know I cover mainly 90's-10's but that's because it's my generation, I'll try and assemble a wide range of masterpieces both old and new, the ones ranging from 20's-80's are just much harder to get your hands on. I'm also aware that my list lacks movies from many countries in Asia, but hey, it's huge. I'm frequently introduced to or find more pictures that might deserve a place on this list so, it is a work in progress. There is no specific order, just individual rating with a minimum of 7/10. My intention is to introduce and suggest the best for people loving the brilliant cinema of Asia.. Peace! ॐ

Title: "The Face of Another"
Directed by / Year: Hiroshi Teshigahara, 1966.
From: Japan
Score: 9/10
Summary:

A staggering work of existential science fiction, The Face of Another dissects identity with the sure hand of a surgeon. Okuyama (Yojimbo‘s Tatsuya Nakadai), after being burned and disfigured in an industrial accident and estranged from his family and friends, agrees to his psychiatrist’s radical new experiment: a face transplant, created from the mold of a stranger. As Okuyama is thus further alienated from the strange world around him, he finds himself giving in to his darker temptations. With unforgettable imagery, Teshigahara’s film explores both the limits and freedom in acquiring a new persona, and questions the notion of individuality itself.
