My hobby is watching and collecting movies on VHS and DVD. On 17 June 2003, I found the IMDB site through an indication of a friend. My first review was "Anazapta" and since then, when I finish watching a movie, I write my personal opinion about it.
I am eclectic, but my genre number 1 is horror. I see between 800 and 900 movies per year, including TV series ("Sex and the City", "Angel", "Buffy", "Six Feet Under", "Lost" etc.).
My favorite movie is "Casablanca" and it is hard to point out my favorite director, actor and actress. I usually do not read any review before seeing a movie, in order to be not influenced by the critics.
I am trying to list my favorite movies alphabetically ordered, but this list may change:

(Bad) Choices in Love
After an argument with her alcoholic mother (Sarah Boberg), the teenager Mille Laursen (Stephanie Leon) moves to the room of her boyfriend Kenny (Nicolas Dufour) in a hostel where she befriends the rapper Sami (Christopher Læssø). Mille works in a bakery with Anja (Sofie Helqvist), who also lives in the same hostel, and Kenny is a punk that spends the day plying video game, drinking beer and selling drugs. Soon Mille and Kenny move to an apartment and Mille wants to buy new furniture, but the couple does not have credit to buy it at the store. Meanwhile Kenny becomes more aggressive and Mille gets closer to Sami that invites her to go to the studio for the rehearsal with his band. They have a love affair while Kenny seeks out the dangerous John (Henrik Noel Olesen) to deal furniture with him to please Mille. Now Mille is involved in a triangle of love and she realizes that she needs to make a choice between her two lovers.
"Bagland" is a film about coming of age of a teenager and (bad) choices in love. The beginning is abrupt with poor development of the characters and situation, but a long the story, the viewer knows Mille, her mother, her lovers Kenny and Sami and her girlfriend Anja. The conclusion is the best moment of the film, showing that Mille has grown-up and free from Kenny and Sami. The camera work is not good, with closes like in a soap- opera. The gorgeous Stephanie Leon steals the show with a great performance. My vote is six.

The Tooth Fairy (2006)
Slasher Surprisingly Gore
Darcy Wagner (Chandra West) and her ten-and-a-half-year-old daughter Pamela "Pammy" (Nicole Muñoz) are heading to the bred and breakfast of her boyfriend Peter Campbell (Lochlyn Munro) in the River Bend Road in Northern California. Peter has quited his career of doctor and bought an old house to have a calmer life and write a book. When Darcy stops at a gas station to ask for direction, she has an abusive treatment from the owners, the Hammond Brothers. Meanwhile Peter welcomes his first guest, the student Stephanie "Star" Roberts (Carrie Anne Fleming), while he works with his friend Bobby Boulet (Jesse Hutch) repairing the house. When Darcy and Pamela arrive, he explains that he had a dispute in the justice with the Hammond Brothers and asks Darcy to forget the incident. Soon Pamela befriends the girl Emma (Jianna Ballard) in the barn and she tells that the house belonged to the Tooth Fairy Witch that killed many children to get their milk-teeth; further, Pamela would be in danger since she still has her last milk-tooth. Pamela tells Emma's story to her mother and Peter, but they do not believe in her. But when their friends are slaughtered in the house, Darcy and Peter start to believe that something supernatural is happening in the house.
"The Tooth Fairy" is a surprisingly gore slasher with terrible story and screenplay. The cast has good performances but the story is poorly written. One point that irritates me in this type of movie is the indifference of characters with the death of someone close to them. For example, Bobby is slaughtered in one scene and forgotten in the next ones by Peter, Darcy and Pamela. Cherise is slaughtered in a room and her boyfriend Cole wants to get laid with Star Robert immediately after with the butchery still in one room. There are several unexplained deaths (Bobby, Cherise, Cole, Chuck and Ben and their mad sister) and there is no consequences or investigation. My vote is four.

Shanghai Express (1932)
A Matter of Faith
In 1931, during the civil war in China, a train leaves Beijing to Shanghai. Among the passengers, the British Captain Donald "Doc" Harvey (Clive Brook) that is traveling to operate the Vice-Governor of Shanghai; the courtesan Hui Fei (Anna May Wong); the Reverend Mr. Carmichael (Lawrence Grant); the boarding house owner Mrs. Haggerty (Louise Closser Hale); the French Major Lenard (Emile Chautard); the dealer Eric Baum (Gustav von Seyffertitz); and the local Mr. Henry Chang (Warner Oland). Out of the blue, Captain Harvey stumbles with the notorious courtesan Shanghai Lily (Marlene Dietrich), who is a "coaster" ("a woman that travels along the China coast with her wealthy clients"), and he recognizes her as her former lover Magdalen. Five years ago, Shanghai Lily tested his faith and love for her and Doc left her, in the beginning of her promiscuous life. Their encounter rekindles the old flame of their love and he shows that he is wearing the watch she gave to him. The train is stopped by Chinese soldiers seeking out a rebel agent and they arrest him. But Chang telegraphs a coded message and the rebels take over the train along the trip. Chang, who is their leader, interviews the passengers to find someone worthwhile to be exchanged by the arrested agent and he chooses Captain Harvey. Chang also tries to force Shanghai Lily to stay with him but Captain Harvey defends her and knocks him down; then he rapes Hui Fei. When the government releases the rebel agent, Chang decides to revenge Harvey blinding him. However, Shanghai Lily offers herself to Chang to release Harvey. What will happen to her?
"Shanghai Express" is a great Pre-Code Film with magnificent performances of the gorgeous Marlene Dietrich and Anna May Wong. The melodramatic romance about the lack of faith in love and the recounter of two former lovers in the environment of the Chinese Civil War in 1931 is engaging with wonderful black and white cinematography. Marlene Dietrich deserved a better romantic pair since the wooden Clive Brook does not have good performance. My vote is seven.

Donovan's Brain (1953)
The Evil Brain
Dr. Patrick "Pat" J. Cory (Lew Ayres) is researching brains with his assistant and friend Dr. Frank Schratt (Gene Evans) and his wife Janice Cory (Nancy Davis, a.k.a. Nancy Reagan) through experiments with monkeys in a laboratory in his house. When an airplane crashes nearby his house, there is only one near-death survivor, the millionaire Warren H. Donovan that is brought still alive to his care. However Donovan dies and Dr. Cory decides to use his brain in his experiment keeping it alive in a tank. Pat, Schratt and Janice research about the life of Donovan and they discover that he was a ruthless and evil man. Soon Donovan's brain imposes his personality to Dr. Cory and possesses him to get rid of his enemies and to live again in his body. Schratt and Janice sees the transformation of Dr. Cory and plan to destroy the brain. Will they succeed in their intent?
"Donovan's Brain" is an entertaining B-movie with a combination of sci-fi and horror and a story in the style of Frankenstein, with a mad doctor and the result of his experiment. The conclusion is corny and commercial and would be better and better if the brain survives in the end. My vote is six.

Stargate SG-1: Holiday (1999)
A Beautiful Day
The SG-1 arrives in a planet with an old man alone that is recognized by Teal'c as Machello, who has resisted the goa'uld with the technology he has developed. Daniel touches in an alien device and them the group returns to Earth bringing Machello that is dying. When he awakes, Daniel claims that is trapped in the old body. Meanwhile Machello is having a beautiful day in Daniel's body. While the police seek out Daniel, Jack and Teal'c returns to the planet to bring the device; however they accidentally switches body too. Now Sam is trying to find a way to return each one to his own body. Is it possible?
"Holiday" is an entertaining and funny episode of SG-1, especially when Marcello is having a nice day in Daniel's body. Michael Shanks is unrecognizable playing the role of Machello. The conclusion is also very enjoyable. My vote is eight.

Stargate SG-1: Serpent's Song (1999)

But soon Sokar demands Apophis and attacks the Iris that protected the access to the SGC. Will the Iris and the SGC resist to the attack?
"Serpent's Song" is an episode where a new enemy is introduced, Sokar. The end of Apophis is not to be celebrated since the Sarcophagus can revive him for Sokar to torture him again. My vote is seven.

This Island Earth (1955)
Entertaining Sci-Fi from the 50's
The electronic engineer Dr. Cal Meacham (Rex Reason) is a prominent scientist that is studying industrial application of nuclear energy and also a great pilot. One day, he receives a different condenser and soon his assistant Joe Wilson (Robert Nichols) receives a manual instruction and several components of a sophisticated machine. Carl and Joe build a communication apparatus and a man called Exeter (Jeff Morrow) contacts Carl. He tells that Carl has passed the test assembling the Interocitor and invites him to join his research. The intrigued Carl decides to travel to meet Exeter that sends an unmanned airplane to bring him to an isolated facility in Georgia. "This Island Earth" is an entertaining sci-fi from the 50's, with a story of aliens that need help from the Earthling scientists in their war against another planet. For a film made sixty years ago, the special effects, the monster, sets and scenarios are great. My vote is six.

Awful Movie, Lame Screenplay
In Halloween, in New York, Mike Lawford (Nicolas Cage) has just been promoted to professor with the support of his friend Hannah (Veronica Ferres). One year later, Mike researches and finds that children that disappears in Halloween is never found by the police. Further every year three children vanishes and there is a connection with the Celtic colonization of New York three hundred years ago. Will Mike save his beloved son?
"Pay the Ghost" is an awful movie, with a lame screenplay. There is no development of the characters and Hannah and Detective Jordan are forgotten. Mike returns from hell with the children and there are no consequences in the simplistic story. Surprisingly there are reviews promoting this movie and lure the readers. My vote is three.

Terminator Genisys (2015)
How to Destroy the Past with the Mediocrity of the Present
In 1984, fans of sci-fi with action were surprised by "Terminator", one of the best films of this genre in the cinema industry. Followed by the excellent sequel "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991), the franchise apparently ended in 2003 with "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines". However, in 2008, it was released the series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" that also worked well showing how Sarah and John Connor survived along the years. In 2009, the exhausted franchise was revived by Hollywood with "Terminator Salvation".
Unfortunately "Terminator Genisys" is a typical example of the present days of Hollywood that insists in destroying great films from the past with the mediocrity of the present writers. This time, the studio does not only destroy the franchise but also the character John Connor and the initial vulnerability of Sarah Connor. The number of inconsistencies and paradoxes in the "butterfly effect" of the story is amazing. The best part of this movie is the smile of Pops. My vote is four.
