Rasathanthram (2006)
Outstanding script, direction, music and background score
Watching this title, 2 hours and 45 minutes, and not even a second I felt boredom. This is truly amazing, the title is a true gem of Indian cinema. The movie depicts the many aspects - relationship between a father and son, great spiritual anecdotes based on real life incidents, conflicts of interests in human society.. a complete mixture of all human emotions.. It has love, expectations, tension, failure, life long agony.
Now the music department, 'Isaignani' Ilayaraaja Sir (Hey Ram (2000), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilaiyaraaja) don't need any praise for his works, because what he creates would be magic (as always) and nothing less !! Right from the beginning, the title score begins with a peppy tone and end with a melodious tone depicting void desires and unspoken minds. Truly amazing.. The listener can suddenly identify the change in mood. This movie has more than 6 songs, (each 5+ minutes duration).. and all are indeed great in quality and content. A real family entertainer with human values.
Oru Minnaminunginte Nurungu Vettam (1987)
Wonderful Movie with Superb Songs & Cast
Another excellent movie from director Mr.Bharathan and his co-worker/script writer Mr.John Paul. This team has always created some wonderful plots for Malayalam viewers. Mr.Paul usually narrates the untold/unexplored side of human life often with a emotional touch and high sense of originality. When this master writer teams up with Mr.Bharathan, nothing short of soulful movies can be expected. This movie narrates the story of an old age couple who don't have any children. One day a young girl (Parvathi) came to their life and later gets married with another person (Devan) under the couple's blessings, the movie get a twist when Parvathi gave birth to a child which leads to her death. With Devan was not in a mental state to take care of this new born, the old age couple become care takers, and slowly realizes their young age playing with the inborn. The story is goes on with some surprises and finally making all of us cry for the old age couple. Must watch for all drama lovers.
Devaraagam (1996)
Wonderful Movie with a great theme and Superb Songs
Many times I failed to understand how this movie became a flop !! Such a beautiful narration of characters, fantastic songs, soulful BGM. All the character's performance took a new level of originality and charm in this movie, which always happens under the direction of legendary Director/Musician/Artist Mr.Bharathan. Its widely believed that Mr.Bharathan got really disappointed after the shocking failure of this movie. I couldn't meet even a single person, who object to this wonderful movie and its songs, bad fate of this movie and director indeed. This movie has a fresh theme, quite interesting twists which carries the audience along with it. We lost a great director by Mr.Bharathan's demise in 1998, unparalleled lose indeed.
Five Dedicated to Ozu (2003)
Boring like hell
Don't know why Mr.Abbas Kiarostami directed such a boring movie. It gave me the impression that anyone with some camera and tripod can make a movie if one can accept this as movie. Total disappointment, from the director of 'Where is my friend's house'. This movie don't deserve any ratings. And who is this 'Ozu' anyway ? Nowhere there is any clear mentioning of this character either. These kind of movies shouldn't be made for public view. My expectations of another marvelous movie went thin after watching this piece. I wonder how the Iranian censor board accepted this movie !! Felt sad wasting my time watching this. Please don't waste time on this movie. its a disaster.
