I read about this movie a lot when it first came out, because I was interested to see if it will be something good from M. Night Shyamalan again (finally) or another of his bad-to-mediocre movies of late. Because of disastrous reviews I decided not to go see it in a cinema. However, later I decided to watch it and decide for myself.
Unfortunately, the movie is not great. On the other hand, I wouldn't say it is really as bad as many people make it be. Even the young Smith didn't do an entirely bad job (to my surprise), however, I was a little disappointed (again surprisingly) by Will Smith's performance, which was just "meh" at best.
The back-story (people leaving earth, alien war, etc.) is actually pretty interesting, however, the main story of the film (i.e. lot of running by the young Smith) is not something to write home about. The CGI is OK but nothing special, really.
I wouldn't recommend paying for the movie, but if you catch it on TV and have nothing better to do, you might enjoy it (6/10).
