10 great movies which are based or include the segregation problem in US. For example "The Help" for me deeply revial the problem and its aspects but "A Bronx tale" or "Guess who's coming to dinner" only in some part. I also considered other movies like "Ragtime", "Boyz in the hood", "American history X" which also showing the racial problem but finally I choose this ones in the list as more comprehensive.

I still can not say more about the last decade of film making because is too soon to be indentified and charactise. One is for sure, the last decade completly change the ways of film making. Because of using high technologies in cinema we can see movies like: The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, El laberinto del fauno, Artificial Intelligence. Unfortunately many directors started to use that technologie only to create movies full of effects and without any ideas. Films listed here are based on what for me it means the real cinema. This is magic which creat a great emotion, possible to change your way of thinking even your life.
The classic era of action genre.
All about the relationship between father and son.
It is like the film makers from the last two decades decided to do their best work of art in the 90's. Two generations of directors like James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, James L. Brooks, Oliver Stone, Francis Ford Coppola, Ridley Scott, Brian De Palma, Terry Gilliam, David Lynch, Milos Forman create some of the all time great movies in cinema. Stanley Kubrick make his last masterpiece. The new technologies interfere in film making, ass well as the new ideas and the whole new generation of brilliant directors like: Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, Sam Mendes, Quentin Tarantino, Danny Boyle, Robert Rodriguez, Darren Aronofsky, The Wachowski Brothers. Many actors make their debut in directing, like Mel Gibson and Kevin Costner who are winning even an Oscar for the best director. I will mention also Clint Eastwood, Michael Mann, Joel Coen, Robert Zemeckis which career in directing starts earlier but the most of their fame they earn in the 90's. Many new actors appear in Hollywood which in the next years are going to be a huge stars like: Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Woody Harrelson. Enjoy, maybe the best decade of cinema, a lot of remakes, action films, but after all full of ever lasting masterpieces.
Poverty, propaganda, politics, protests, prisons, war and prejudice. Cinematic portrayals of Africa do not come glossed over in peachy fantasy; they are raw, truthful, and realistic.
There are no words enough to describe the greatness of this decade. This is a rise of ideas, actors, directors that made the 70's an absolut triumph of the cinema. In this decade appear a whole new generation of film makers which are going to be the leaders, the main artists for the next decades in cinema. Directors like:Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Brian De Palma, Ridley Scott, Michael Cimino, Alan Parker, Milos Forman, Peter Bogdanovich, Terry Gilliam are going to change the way we look on cinema. As well as the directors the generation of new actors is going to rise. Actors like: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Ryan O'Neal, Meryl Streep, Martin Sheen, Jodie Foster, Jeff Bridges, Sylvester Stallone, Sigourney Weaver, Gene Hackman, Sissy Spacek, Donald Sutherland, Harvey Keitel are going to be the main stream for the Hollywood directors and producers for the next dacades. I want to mention also Dustin Hoffman who become a star in late 60's but his real rise was in the 70's. Great film makers like Sidney Lumet and Stanley Kubrick also create some of their best movies in 70's. Enjoy!

This list is about Latin America. All of the movies are set there but not all of them are Latin American. I include films which better describe for me the life, the culture, the poverty, the drugs, the cirmes, the history, the nature and the people in this continent.
Here there are 50 movies which include or are base on a political issues. The majority of the films here have a great historical value. Like "JFK", "The Battle of Algiers", "Malcolm X" for example have a documantary character. Listed movies could be bibliographical like "Gandhi", ''Lincoln" or based on novel like "Manchurian candidate" and "The boys from Brazil". Some of the films refer to a conspiracy like ''JFK", "The Manchurian candidate", "Marathon man" etc. The others may refer to a social problem or the power of media like ''Network" and "The insider". I listed some war movies like "Amen", "The Killing fields", "Katyn", "Born on the fourth of July" but their plot is more about politics not the war by it self. "Dr.Strangelove" is the best example for political satire. "Serpico" is movie about corruption which is also a political problem. There is a of lot titles about revolution like "The Battle of Algiers", "Reds", "Soy Cuba", "Land and freedom" and others. I didn't include sci-fi films, there also could be a political ussues but it's not based on a real history. Other movies that I consider but they are not in the list are:"Conspiracy theory", "Enemy of the state", "Mad city" "Lenny", "Dog day afternoon", "The crusible", "Chinatown", "Diarios de motocicleta", "L.A Confidential", "In the line of fire", "The Net", "The truth", "The firm", "Mississippi burning", "Citizen Kane", "Mr Smith goes to Washington". They have some political aspects as well but the list is just about 50 films so I need to make a choice. Have fun! I hope I am going to see your comments and sugestions.
50 great movies based on a true story. They are not documentaries so you can not search comprehensive explanation on the facts. I will be happy if I see you comments.
The best not American and not British actors.
The best movies dealing with finance, corporate and media.
100 the most charismathic movie characters according to my opinion. Maybe the cinema wouldn't be the same without them!
Or what the love means. Listed movies are about love which could be a failure at the end or a triumph. In any case it wont be an easy thing. Like in "English patient" and "Titanik" it is a great love story which finish with the death. In "The reader" and "Roman holiday" love is impossible and finish with separation. In "The remains of the day" and "The age of innocence" it is never shared but existed love. In "The appartment" and "As good as it gets" love was difficult but finally it happens. "The next tree days" and "When a man loves a woman" are about the truthfull love. I didn't include any other love story like between mather and dauther, father and son or between friends because there is another list for it.
10 successfull movie remakes that Hollywood did. They could be remakes from foreign language films or older hollywood productions.
The best movies in French language.
The 30 best films about the mafia, gangsters, hitmans, bank roberries and drugs. For me "The Gotfather", "Goodfellas", "Casino", "A Bronxe tale" and "Donnie Brasco" describe the best the Italian-American mafia, the family, the organisation, the belives etc. "Heat", "Reservoir dogs", "Pulp fiction" for example are more gangs movies, they are not mob. "The Iceman", "Leon" and "Road to perdition" are films about the mafia hitmans.
Hope I see your comments and sugestions.
Here there are 30 great movies based on WW1, WW2, Cambodia and the Vietnam war. I didn't include any other film with medieval battles or samurais. In that list you can find anti-war movies like "Path of Glory", "Born on the fourth of July" or films like "The deer hunter" which are based on how the war reflects on people. I didn't include "The English patient" and "The pianist". They are my favorites but the first one is more a love drama then war and the second one is about the holocaust for which I have "Schindler's list". The films reflect different aspects of the war.
I hope to see your comments and sugestions.
The best 100 actresses from Vivien Leigh to Scarlett Johansson according to my opinion. This list is based on both - favorite actress and those who have outstanding contribution to cinema. Maybe the cinema wouldn't be the same without them!
The best 100 actors from James Stewart to Leonardo DiCaprio according to my opinion. This list is based on both - favorite actors and those who have outstanding contribution to cinema. Maybe the cinema wouldn't be the same without them.
The best 500 movies I've seen so far. This is not a formal list based on the film history neither on the film rating in imdb. This list contents both - favorite movies and those who have great cinematic accomplishments according to my opinion. I didn't included films that I don't realy like. Star Wars could be a great movie but you wont find it here because is not my favorite. For me the greatest movie ever made is "Ben-Hur", I put "Gone with the wind" as the second one, the rest I can move in the list.
List is based on a movies wich I have already seen so it be revised and updated regularly. I select films from Asian and Europien cinema but the list is largely base on American cinema wich I consider as the best. I include a lot of Oscar winners and nominees for best foreign language film. Films here are from 1931 up to nowadays. There is a many classic movies in the list but the majority of the titles are after 60's. In my opinion the best movies in American cinema are made in the 70's. I've included films from all genre but you wont find much musical or western movies. I prefer to wath drama, mystery, crime and thriller. I've excluded from the list: documentaries, short films, animation, series and tv films. I took the best from some of the great directors and actors. You can find lots of blockbusters here but also very little known great films. You will find many Oscar winners of best picture, best actors and many epic movies.
Some movies might not be for you but I'm sure that you can find something to enjoy.
If there is a film you think I have missed I will be happy to consider it.
Here there are 30 great sci-fi movies. I choose this ones as a sci-fi on base which include more fantasy like "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Avatar", "AI", "Abyss" etc. On others like "The Matrix", "Brazil", "Tron" the action is develop in a different world. "Children of men" for example is a post apocalyptic movie. In "War of the worlds", "Independence day", ''The Faculty" aliens atack the world and in "28 days later" is a disease. I am not a big fen of "Star wars" and time traveling in "Back to the future" thats why you wont find this movies here. I can not define films like "A clockwork orange", "Dr. Strangelove", "V for vendette", "Unbrekable", "Face/Off" as a sci-fi for me, they are one of my favorits but they are not in this list.
100 great not in English language movies. Many of them are nominated or have an Oscar for the best foreign language film.
The best not American and not British directors. Many of them made movies as well in US. I didn't include directors who are born abroad but they did movies only in US.
The new era of film making. It is like awakening and the romance become a passion. Many controversial movies appear on screen like: "Dr. Strangelove", "The Graduate", "Lolita", "Belle de jour". With masterpieces like "Psyho", "Peeping Tom" and "2001: A Space Odyssey" a whole new genres arising in cinema. In that period you can see a big part of the work of Stanley Kubrick, David Lean, Fred Zinnemann and Sidney Lumet. Very new but great directors appearing in the world of cinema like: Mike Nichols, Roman Polanski, Costa-Gavras, Sergio Leone. Stars like Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight appear first in cinema. Tarrific actors like Steve McQueen, Paul Newman and Sidney Poitier who become known from the last decade, arising in the 60's.
If their is a character in which I can describe the 80's in cinema that is epic! In that decade you can see a great epic movies like: "Amadeus", "Das Boot", "Raging Bull", "Once Upon a Time in America", "Gandhi", "Reds", "The Last Emperor", "A Passage to India", "Empire of the Sun". Another characteristic of this period for me is the appear of new commercial movie characters and series such as: "Indiana Jones", "Lethal Weapon", "Beverly Hills Cop", Die hard, "The terminator". The great directors Martin Scorsese, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Milos Forman, Brian De Palma, Sidney Lumet, Alan Parker doing some of their best films in 80's. Beside them a new commers in directing make their first debut like: James Cameron, James L. Brooks, Robert Redford, Oliver Stone, Barry Levinson, Warren Beatty, Spike Lee, Tony Scott. Those directors going to keep making excellent films over the next decades. I want to mention also David Lynch whos debut was in late 70's but his rise as an outstanding director is in 80's with masterpieces like "The Elephant Man" and "Blue Velvet". A lot of new stars in acting appear in Hollywood like: Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Robin Williams, Charlie Sheen, Ben Kingsley, John Malkovich, Ed Harris, Kevin Costner, Michelle Pfeiffer, Glenn Close, Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, Tim Robbins, Eddie Murphy, Winona Ryder, Christian Slater. They will be leading actors also for the next decade. I would like to mention great actors like Harison Ford, Michael Douglas and Mel Gibson who make their debut in 70's but rising more in the 80's.
50 years of film making, 250 great movies is list based on films made between 1960 and 2010. Every decade of this period of film history has their own character, own stars and directors. So I choose 50 great movies from each decade starting chronologically from 1960 up to 2009. I didn't choose 5 film for each year, so it could be more films from the same year! You can find films from all genres except documentarie. My choices are mainly American movies but there is a lot of foreign language films as well. The list is entirely based on a personal choice. I saw and I liked a lot of films from each decade, but when it comes to make a choice, you count more on your personal feelings and impression which every movie made to you. Then you dont care so much about rating or critics. I can say there is no mediocre film in this list, so if you miss to watch one of it, you better be hurry and do it, you dont know what you are missing!
The classic era of cinema. Here are the first blockbusters like "Ben-Hur" and "Gone with the wind" which are for me the best films ever made. You can see the work of the great directors like: William Wyler, Frank Capra, David Lean, John Ford, Elia Kazan, Alfred Hitchcock, John Huston, Orson Welles, Billy Wilder, Vittorio De Sica, Fred Zineman, Federico Fellini and many more. You can see stars like: Humphrey Bogart, James Stewart, Marlon Brando, Ingrid Bergman, Gregory Peck, Katharine Hepburn, Clark Gable, Audrey Hepburn, Bette Davis, Vivien Leigh. The cinema in that time is very romantic, santimental and everything is depend from the actors.
I consider 1993 as one of the greatest years in cinema. Here there are the 20 best films released in 1993.
