Dorian Gray (2009)
Mr Wild was NOT turning in his grave trough premiere of this Picture
I remember deciding to have a quiet Saturday. After a long wait- this movie was out and for me- that would do for that evening. Anyway, I am big Oscar Wilde fan. I understand and agree with most of his view's and have read Dorian Gray more than once. During the movie, i had that naughty, very pleased smile on my face, and wondered around the London long afterwords, captured in Dorians world of pleasure and running against time and truth. 1.- if movie left me in the state of mind to do something, to thing about something or simply flow with the thought of it...That is enough by it self. The thing is- this is adaptation of the book- so , yeah, lets be critical- things in book that i imagined that happened-happened on film! So, i congratulate movie makers on their level of imagination and for not letting limits of the book(because it was controversial enough without juicy details) comes into the limitless pleasures. Which BTW in Wilde's eyes are exactly that- limitless! I would like to see more of the actual Wilde's view's trough the words, as he was so good with it. But, his points of view were very obvious trough the motion as well. Ben Barnes gradation was delightful! I would expect Harry to be younger and more charming, but hay- with Colins talent it didn't really matter. Anyway- Well done- I am really happy because of not literal take on this book. As- we have that masterpiece already in that frame of time. It was time for a dirty twist on this eternal subject, and it certainly did a justice to the Oscars being- more and beyond his time!
