Sniper: Reloaded (2011)
OK for an action movie
This movie has good quality action, good sound effects, and not too bad for an action movie.
Script is very weak. Poor dialogs and poor acting is pulling the quality of the movie down. I guess actors are inexperienced but doing their best with limited talents they got (or limited by the script - not sure).
Storyline is all right. It has a little twist but it becomes apparent at the start of the movie. No deep emotions and drama element, although, there was enough room for it in the story.
If you are looking for a thriller or a serious action movie, this is NOT it. This is something little better than a tele drama, which will keep you occupied till the end.
There are few "adult elements" in the movie: a short sex scene, shooting, blood, and display of child soldiers.
Cougars Inc. (2011)
Not a masterpiece but above average
I wasn't sure about it during first 10 minutes but, as story kept unfolding, it kept me going. Although the movie have some emotional elements and a nicely flowing storyline, it is not presented as an emotional movie. Scenes are neither too long or too short, which is a nice thing - just enough to tell the story.
There is not much character introduction with their backgrounds and motivations to do things, and I guess, it is left for us to imagine. Ending of the story was predictable within first 1/3 but it didn't hurt the movie.
This movie lacks the "scale": small and less-involved cast, short and medium camera shots giving the feeling of a budget movie (or a tele-drama).
Overall, watching it is not a waste of time, but remember to tolerate first 15 minutes until story starts appearing, because, editor hasn't done a great job.
The Other Guys (2010)
Interesting combination of lame and seriousness
I don't consider it a great movie. Storyline is weak, and full of lame jokes, which eventually make you give up laughing. It appears that lot of money was spent on actions (mainly, destroying things).
There was something interesting happening throughout the movie, which prevented me from turning it off. Every time when I get annoyed by one of Allen's lame jokes, I can see Terry is also annoyed by it. So, I hold on my thoughts. That is a pretty interesting combination of lame and seriousness which holds the movie to its obvious ending.
There is a bit of audience cheating going on as well. Jackson and Johnson opened the movie with heavy action, and just vanished in thin air, after 10 minutes, without even a proper excuse! (Similar to how Seagal vanished in Executive Decision 1996).
You won't regret watching it, but not something you want to show to a friend to impress him/her on your movie selection!
Good to watch but it disappointed me
It is a good-to-watch movie, and never made me feel bored. It was a great start, and after 15- 20 minutes, I was expecting the plot to expand and bring other players in (as in Ladder 49). It never went beyond the coffin, which seriously disappointed me. I thought the story had the potential to make it a large-scale movie by exposing a "bigger picture".
I felt the movie is more like an experiment to see how viewers react to its unique style. If you consider the scale and involvement of actors in Independence Day (1996) as 10, and Hurt Locker (2008) as 5, this will be 1 - the lowest that I have watched so far.
