Crop And Save
Nick of Time (1995)
wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was
I rented this movie mainly because it had Johnny Depp in and as he's one of my fave actors i just had to see it. And i thought it was a great movie. I thought it was very Hitchcokian and clever the way the duration of the film lasts the same amount of time that Gene Watson has got to do the deed.
I can't think why this film didn't do so well in the box office, but i suppose usually the best films aren't the blockbuster hits(looks at charlie's angles for example)
Arizona Dream (1993)
i DIDN'T LIKE IT
I'm a big Depp fan, have been longer than i've been a malkovich fan, but i didn't like this movie, people had told me how good it was, but i didn't enjoy it. Lili Taylor is one of my favourite actresses, so this film sounded like a dream come true, her and Depp in a movie, together, but it wasn't. Vincent Gallo stole the film, he was excellent, as were Depp and Taylor, but the movie lacked a real plot to keep me interested, it's the only Johnny Depp film i haven't really enjoyed. Unless your a fan of the actors(and i am an was still dissappointed) i wouldn't bother
Ripley's Game (2002)
A brilliantly tense and adreneline filled movie
I wasn't expecting such an exciting and adrenaline filled movie when i went to see Ripley's game, but was pleasently surprised, this movie, had action, it had humour, romance and in parts was moving. I can't compare it to the books(as i've not read them), but i thouroughly enjoyed this movie, and reccommend it highly. It really is brilliant, and MALKOVICH was perfect as Ripley, his performance to me was reminiscent of Vicomte de Valmont in Dangerous Liasons, you love the character, he seems such a decent guy, but he's evil, and psychotic, that's the beauty of malkovich playing this role, he is familiar with it. This film also delivered excellent suppourt roles from Dougray Scott, Lena Headly and Ray Winston, who adds a comical touch to the movie One of the best films i've seen this year!
Being John Malkovich (1999)
couldn't wait for this movie, huge malkovich fan
As i'm pretty much a hardcore Malkovich fan, i couldn't wait to see this movie, and i wasn't dissapointed. A very unique and clever film, and utterly hilarious. Malkovich was excellent as was Catherine Keener, portraying sexy vamp maxine. Cusack and Diaz were almost recognisible, yet displays some of the best performances of their careers. All in all i found being john malkovich to be brilliant, a movie everyone should experience for himself
