Pride and Prejudice (2003)
Not perfect, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Don't expect a perfect (modern) retelling of Jane Austen's fabulous "Pride and Prejudice" - you won't get that here. But what you will get is a well-acted, well-directed movie that's fun and enjoyable. If you liked BJD and have no qualms about non-purist adaptations, you'll like this movie. In fact, you'll probably like it a lot.
I don't know anything about the LSD church, so I can't comment whether or not they portrayed it correctly. Though, I will say that I didn't find anything offensive nor felt that they were making fun of the Mormon church.
It's disconcerting to find negative comments about this movie by reviewers such as 'smigaldi': "I think that if you are attracted to this moving because you are fan of Austin you will be very disappointed." Well, if you're a purist, then yes - but why would a purist see this movie anyhow? If you're not a purist (like me) and you're a huge fan of Jane Austen (yet again, like me), you'll probably enjoy this movie very much.
(And by the way, it's spelled "Austen", not "Austin". Any fan would know that.)
All in all, it may not be a "must-see", but it's definitely a "see, if you can find it" type movie. Although, I've recommended the film to all my Austen-loving friends and we all love it :)
