Surppassed My Expectations
I'll admit when when I went into this I wasn't really interested but by the end I was soooo into it and wanted more. The acting was great especially by Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the guy who played Loki. The frost people scarred the crap out of me. The acting really owes itself to the great writing. The writing was great and it didn't trail off just to give us a battle that was unnecessary. The comedic moments in the film weren't forced and were hella funny. Thor was a great movie and I'm excited for the Avengers film. The effects were pretty awesome. i saw it in 3D but i didn't think it was worth it but there were parts that looked great. The only thing that kinda bothered me was that the battles were a little underdone but they were great nonetheless. The Movie was awesome and if you haven't seen it. You need to.
Rango is the story a wannabe thespian lizard (Johnny Depp) who's only friends were the decorations in his tank until he is thrown onto the side of the road where he avoids oncoming cars and has an encounter with Roadkill (Alfred Molina) who tells of the Spirit of the West (Timothy Olyphant) who gives advice to those who make it to the other side of the road (It's a metaphor). Insiting on getting some water, Roadkill points the Lizard towards the town Dirt in the middle of the desert. While making his way through the desert he encounters numerous things like Hawks, trees that stare at you, a rock like creature and a mariachi band made of birds.
Soon in the desert, the lizard, meets up with Beans (Isla Fisher)an independent girl that is struggling to keep her father's ranch. She takes him the rest of the way to Dirt where he walks into the local bar where at first he is harassed by the locals but being the Thespian that he is he quickly comes up with a character and a name, Rango. Rango tells the locals of how he took out the 7 Jenkin Brothers with one bullet. Soon, Rango's stories get him into a draw with some of the bullies of Dirt which is interrupted with an attack by a hawk. Rango soon kills the bird and like in his stories and with a little luck he kills the bird with one bullet. After this heroic event, Rango is promoted to Sheriff of the town and then is assigned to find out where the water supply is going. This leads him to a number of action, duologue and sweet scenes with Rango and his Posse. When they get back to Town to no prevail, the water is completely gone. Rango has now had suspicions that the culprit of water supply is the Mayor (Ned Beatty). Now threatened, The Mayor calls in Rattle Snake Jake (Bill Nighy) who exiles Rango into the desert.
Rango makes his way back to the road where he decides that he must cross the road. When he makes it he has an encounter with The Spirit of the West. After taking his advice, Rango makes his way back to Dirt to save the day. After putting the pieces of the puzzle together Rango learns of the plan to destroy Dirt and comes up with a plan to save the Town. He then takes down the evil doers and saves dirt, becoming the permanent Sheriff of Dirt. Sheriff Rango.
When I went into this movie I had expectations, I was not disappointed! This movie was awesome. We definitely have a movie in the running for best animated movie of 2011. Where to begin? The Story, Overall the story was a refreshing one. It was in the formula of a western where you have slower scenes and then action sequences. It was balanced out perfectly. There was a lot of humor in the movie which was great because again there was a lot of it that was aimed towards older people and some who speak another language which i thought was great. Overall i think the story was bold and a lot of metaphoric parts of the story too. This story like I said was refreshing and definitely a 5/5.
The Characters, all of the characters were great and fun to watch and look at. They all had great details and unique designs to them. My favorite was probably Rattle Snake Jake. They all were entertaining and made the movie very enjoyable. 5/5. The animation: WOW!! What can i say? I was blown away by the animation. It was probably the most impressive animation in a film I've ever seen (next to Toy Story 3). Before the movie there was a trailer for Hoodwinked 2. That animation look horrible and made Rango look a lot more cool. There was so much eye candy in the film and soooooo much detail.Being someone who appreciates this kind of stuff this was awesome. 6/5 Overall the movie was great, the only thing i had a little problem with was the fact that Rattle Snake Jake's screen time wasn't a lot but the same fact also made him even more awesome. The movie was awesome and was definitely not just for kids. In fact that was another thing. I thought the movie towards the end, the movie got a little dark and overall i think the movie would have kept kids from age 0 - 7 may be bored or scared. Kids from age 8 - adults will love it. This movie was bold in that way though which was awesome and proof that animated films are not just for kids. Rango 10/10
The Green Hornet (2011)
The Green Hornet: Almost Near Perfect!
The Green Hornet, in my opinion was one of the better hero movies I have seen in a while. This is one of my personal favorite action hero movie next to The Dark Knight and Spiderman 1 (2 and 3 are crap!) but anyways. . . . The Green Hornet surpassed my expectations. I knew coming in that it was a comedy/action movie and I usually like these movies so i wasn't worried or disappointed there. The humor was well balanced with the action and the humor was great unlike the crap we got in Killers. Seth Rogen was hilarious as always and Kato was brilliant as well. The Action sequences were awesome! The action sequences were even in times funny as well especially towards the end of the movie where Kato and Britt have a brawl with each other. That was hilarious! But the action sequences were great and well choreographed. As for the actors the two main guys were great and had a funny chemistry with each other. Cameron Diaz looked pretty hot in this film and I enjoyed her scenes. James Franco had a cameo part in the beginning which i enjoyed. I think my favorite performance in the film was Chundunfsky. Here is where I had pros and cons. He was a great villain and now is probably one of my favorites next to the Joker and Scar from the Lion King. Now to be fair I wasn't leaning over my chair waiting for his scenes to begin but i did enjoy them. He was funny like the Joker and was insane like him too. The only problem I had was i wished that there was more character development for the villain but other than that we have a successful movie. This was a great movie. If you are looking for a great funny, action movie. . . then the Green Hornet is for you.
"Dobby has no masters, Dobby is a free elf!" -Dobby, R.I.P Here lies Dobby, A free elf
Uh ....... nothing, it-it-it w-was just ......... TOTALLY AWESOME!
WOW, what can I say . . . . lots of things! Just got back from Harry Potter and I am amazed. A lot of people think that making the 7th installment of the franchise into two parts was a bad idea but i highly disagree. A lot of the book elements were kept which i thought was cool. The only problem I had was I wanted to see more of the Dursleys in the beginning but none the less. People are always complaining that the movies take out important parts or parts that they love so when the directors and writers finally come up with a plan to fix this problem by making it a two parter, people don't agree. Being a reader of the books I though this was an excellent idea because it allowed for better pacing which really was good. My mom (who was not really knowledgeable about the Harry Potter world) said to me after that it was really good she got everything that was going on.
One thing that I loved was the darker tone of the movies (4-7) especcialy the one in this movie. (1-2) they had more child like and campy feel to them but kinda from (3-7) the movies took on more darker tones which I loved.
The pacing of the film also allowed many great dialouge scenes with the actors and actresses. It really showed off their acting skills. They also all looked really good. Hermione was awesome and she has really blossomed, Ron was great and i liked the way he was used kind of like the comic relief, and Harry was spectacular. In contrast to the great dialouge scenes, we also get great action sequences, yes they were short and yes there were parts where i hoped there would be a battle but there wasn't but the 7 Harry chase scene was awesome and the Snake in Godric's Hallow scared the crap out of me but was awesome. But i think my favorite sequences were the polyjuice potion scenes ( the 7 harry's) but most of all the one between Harry, Ron and Hermione in the Ministry of Magic with Dorlores Umbridge and the Dementors which was funny and cool. Also towards the end with Dobby ( my favorite part of the whole/character movie) When he lets loose the chandelier and it almost hits Belletrix and he says "Dobby never meant to kill. Dobby only meant to maim or seriously injure." That was great. The deaths in the movie like Hedwigs, and Mad Eye Moody's but most of all Dobby's ( I'll admit were heartbreaking) were sad. Dobby was my favorite character in the whole franchise. It was sad to see him in the body bag when they buried him and his last words were touching. Dobby, R.I.P. good buddy. Overall there were a couple things missing from the book but nothing to moan and bitch about. It was a great movie and I cannot wait until the last one comes out but i will also be sad because I grew up with this franchise it seems 2010-2011 will be the end of great movie franchises i will miss (Toy Story, Harry Potter etc.)I remember going with my parents on my birthday to see the 1st harry potter movie. It is something I grew up with and i love. It was a great movie and It will be remembered for ages.
