Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013)
A Very Good Entertainer From Ranbir-Deepika
I watched this 3 months after the release and i must say that it isn't as bad as everyone has made it out to be. I agree its a plot that has been used in Bollywood many times, but the way Ayaan Mukurjee executes this is very different from your usual Bollywood films.
The plot centres a group of friends which includes Aditi (Kalki Koechlin) Avi (Aditya Roy Kapoor) and Kabir Thapar (Bunny) (ranbir Kapoor), who all ready to take a rec around manila. Naina (Deepika Padukone) plays a geeky, quirky middle class Indian girl who's only dream is to live like others, she gets all this when she joins Bunny and his gang on their rec to manila. The plot follows as all usual Hindi films usual do.
Ranbir Kapoor after Barfi gives a performance of a lifetime as the carefree Kabir, he plays the role as though he is Kabir himself which is why Ranbir in this moment in time is one of the leading stars of the industry. Deepika also gives a brilliant performance she goes from strength to strength with this role as Naina. Both main actors live the characters as though they are themselves. Aditya and Kalki add a bit of mas ala to the cast. Overall the main cast is very good and hats off to Ayaan and Karan for producing a story that has been told but in a modern style.
Overall a must watch for Ranbir-Deepika fans and overall Hindi movie lovers.
Hrithik Roshan once again proves why he is one of the leading actors of Bollywood
Acting Hrithik Roshan once again proves why he is one of the leading actors of Bollywood, he has once again given a performance that nobody will forget, people hear about pain in movies but in this movie you see the pain and grieve through Hrithik Roshans eyes, which on his behalf is a brilliant way of portraying vengeance. After a long time we have seen Hrithik Roshan in action, and my opinion is that he should do a lot more serious action roles. Sanjay dutt looks menacing and he will be coming in you nightmares, he is brilliant as Kancha, when he first appears on the screen you know this man is no good he is surely going to go down as Hindi cinemas greatest villains after Gabbar and Mogambo. Rishi Kapoor does justice to his role as the drug lord and flesh trader of Mumbai, you could never imagine him doing something like this but he is just brilliant at what he does. Priyanka Chopra is alright even though she doesn't have much to do she still does what she does best.
Story From the first scene to the last scene you are engaged in the film, even though Agneepath is a remake it doesn't feel as predictable as a remake, as you feel so engaged in the story that you want to know what is going to happen next. They were quite a few things that should have been edited for instance the length of the film, the love story between Vijay and kaali should have also been edited a bit more as it slowed the movie down.
Direction Karan Malhotra has done justice to the remake as a first time director he used all the right ingredients to make a brilliant movie of his vision of Agneepath, the way he changed the track of the story a little to suit todays generation so they could enjoy a lot more was quite clever, I think we will be seeing a lot of more of Karan Malhotra in the coming future
Overall Agneepath is a complete package of action, drama and vendetta, when you it watch you will feel as if you are back in the 90's, 1 tip I must give is watch this as not a remake but a tribute to the original Agneepath, and don't try to compare both character as their is no comparison between the two. As both character are completely different.
