Not as bad as it seems.
Well, you've seen it all before, it's not a new concept but it's still pretty interesting. I sat through the whole movie without any problems at all. Sure, some things were pretty stupid like that an infamous mass murderer wouldn't have more security or that you cannot possibly survive the amount beating the main character receives.
I liked the movie but unfortunately it was too average. The acting is nothing to complain about but the characters are pretty boring. Samuel L. Jackson gives us a typical villain and Kellan Lutz gives us the usual hero, nothing special on that front.
I liked Daniel Dae Kim's character but he had a too small a role. It had every better if they had developed his character more then I would care a lot more about the people who died. There are lots of people who die but I did not think I really cared it was unfortunate and something that they could have worked more with.
This is by no means comparable to Hunger Games/BR, but give it a shot if you just want some pretty OK entertainment.
The Divide (2011)
Did they do the movie like this on purpose? Most likely
The film is certainly not for everyone and it shows quite clearly. It's not exactly a horror film and not really a sci-fi. It is more a psychological thriller/drama than anything else, kinda like the movie "The Experiment". So if you watch the movie and expect to see anything else but that I'll understand if you get very disappointed.
An unfortunate thing about the film is how little we get to know about why "somebody" dropped the nuclear bombs over the city. But that's not the point of the movie, the point is for the viewer to try to understand the characters' sense of hopelessness. Hopelessness is a good word to describe the whole screenplay.
There are quite a few things that people have complained about or thought were bad about the movie. One of the things I noticed that people talked about most was that the film raised a lot of questions about the story but never told you the answers. I agree that it were a bit annoying but the more I thought about it the more satisfied I got with the movie. One of the things was that you did not receive any direct perception of time on how long they were there in the basement. I thought for a while but then I realized that they probably did not include it because you got it from the characters' point of view. The characters probably had no idea how long it had gone after a while. The whole film was made in that way so you never learn more than what the people in the basement found out.
To summarize: An okay film that was quite interesting.
Once Upon a Time (2011)
"Magic always comes with a price"
This is a very innovative TV series. The evil queen wants her own happy ending, but "magic always comes with a price." It's a very clever idea, the whole series is made after that concept which makes it very unique.
All the characters are very likable except the little kid who can get a little too much sometimes. Occasionally, the series can be quite silly and goofy but I guess it is for it to be a family show but it feels stupid sometimes. But besides such trifles, it is a good television series that is exciting and fun.
It will be very exciting to see how the series continues. So far it has been very promising. One problem, however, (based on that it has been so successful) is that I'm not sure they have a good plan for a possible season two. I don't want this to become another television series that have a good first season but a bad second one.
Then finally, just to name Mr. Gold, he is easily my favorite character.
The Hangover (2009)
A really funny movie
I can not remind myself that I've laughed this much for a long time. Everything from start to finish offers a wonderful blend of humor, so I think everyone will find something they like in this movie. It's hard not to find a favorite character because all the characters have so many things to offer.
After seeing this movie for the third time, I think it has exactly the same charm as the first time. I will probably look at it many more times in the future and that says a lot about the movie. I recommend it to anyone who has not seen it and if it's been a long time since you saw it, watch it again! It's worth it.
The Hangover Part II (2011)
Funny but would like to see something new
This is an inferior copy of the first film, the same situations but with worse jokes. Phil, Stu, Mr. Chow and Alan, you know the characters well from the first film. So now it could be a good time to introduce somebody new into the wolfpack? Or at least give you an opportunity to get to know another character more such as Doug. But no of course not, I got the feeling you got to know the drug dealing monkey best in this movie.
You get tired pretty quickly of the penis-jokes and low humor. The movie had its funny moments but almost everything felt reused from the first movie. Nevertheless, I look forward to a third film in the series and hope it will be much better this one.
Midnight in Paris (2011)
A magical adventure which I think most people will appreciate.
Midnight in Paris is a very imaginative and entertaining film about that you should appreciate what you have in the present. The film is very nicely filmed and it shows much of the city's beautiful surroundings. It's a really fun film filled with wonderful music and the actors were really good. During the film there was a lot of funny situations that Gil (Owen Wilson) ended up in and I could identify myself with the character many times throughout the movie. Although I thought the movie was predictable I didn't think it was any less boring. I recommend the movie to anyone who just wants to watch a nice and fun movie.
The Lost Future (2010)
I was surprised at how little people who seems to know about this movie especially when Sean Bean is involved. I am glad that I have seen it because I love Post-Apocalyptica movies. The film has a good beginning that made me curious about the rest of the developments in the film. The special effects were pretty good and the cinematography was nice. The acting can certainly be questioned at times but overall it was below average. The movie was entertaining but unfortunately it felt like it was a bit too much that might been done differently. On many occasions you could easily guess what would happen, which was boring. The idea for the film/TV-series was good but unfortunately I felt that some things were missing, an excellent example of this was that the film's end felt very stressed and rushed. I wish I could give it a higher rating, but unfortunately this film did not single out.
