Note: Donnie Iris should be #71 on this list (between Asia and John Mellencamp), but IMDb doesn't have a page for him.

The definition of "classic rock" used for this list is: any music created by a non-alternative* rock band/artist that was at their/his/her peak between the rockabilly and grunge/alternative eras (so, in other words, rock artists from the early-ish, mid-ish 1960s to the early 1990s).

*The definition of "alternative" here does not include New Wave, punk rock, and post-punk.

The following genres could be considered subgenres of other genres, so I didn't include the larger grouping when listing them to avoid redundancy:

arena rock ---> hard rock, soft rock
hair band ---> hard rock
New Wave ---> pop-rock
punk rock ---> hard rock

The profile for Donnie Iris would look like this:

Primary Genre(s):
-arena rock
-pop-rock

There is a limit of one battle/combat scene per movie and no science-fiction or fantasy is allowed. For some, I'm not sure if I have the best battle of the film listed, so I put "probably" afterwards.

There is a limit of one villain per film series and only human/humanoid individuals are allowed. I decided to do this list with films, rather than characters, because a few of the characters on the list don't have IMDb pages.

This is based on what the character actually does in the movie, so Adolf Hitler (Michael Sheard) in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) isn't going to make the list for just signing a book. Sometimes it's hard to decide who counts as a villain and who doesn't. This list excludes gangsters like John Dillinger (Warren Oates) from Dillinger (1973), Bonnie Parker (Faye Dunaway) and Clyde Barrow (Warren Beatty) from Bonnie and Clyde (1967), Tony Camonte (Paul Muni) from Scarface (1932), Tom Powers (James Cagney) from The Public Enemy (1931), and Tony Montana (Al Pacino) from Scarface (1983), because the audience, to some extent, is supposed to root for them. Gangsters like Cody Jarrett (James Cagney) from White Heat (1949) and Ralph Cotter (James Cagney) from Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (1950) are included on the list, because the audience is clearly not supposed to be rooting for them.

There is a limit of one shootout per series and no military confrontations are allowed. I didn't count the various Sergio Leone standoffs, because they don't really count as shootouts.
