Lists by Christian_Dimartino
It's going to be a long summer, and I don't always feel like writing reviews, so here's this. I will update constantly.
2013 began super slow and then turned into a strong year for movies. But guess what: 2014 will be even better, considering this is the return of Christopher Nolan. I mean, sure we had Man of Steel, which he wrote and produced. But that's not enough. 2014 is going to rock. 2013 sure did.
I love making best lists. I get some sort of pleasure out of it. At the same time, it kills me some years, because I feel wrong for leaving certain movies out. 2013 is one of those years. I have made a list of 25, and I have a lot of honorable mentions. A lot of movies didn't make the 25, and though not everyone will agree with this list, it's my list, so, yeah. I still have plenty to see, but this is what I have for now. Here are the best movies of the year. Honorable mentions:Disconnect, The Conjuring, Frozen, Don Jon, The Bling Ring, Before Midnight, Frances Ha, This is the End, The World's End, Monsters University
I've done it! I've seen all of this years Best Picture nominees, and I am proud. I did it last year too, by the way. But last year was much easier to rank than this one. Last year, I didn't love everything that was nominated. This year, I pretty much do. Everything that is nominated pretty much deserves to be, which some years is rare. There is one film that belongs on this list that actually stood a chance, and it's Woody Allen's latest masterpiece, Blue Jasmine. Other than that, the academy did pretty good. They chose a great list of movies. Here are my rankings, one being the best, and 9 being my least favorite... but this year, I am sad to say that calling my least favorite my least favorite isn't fair, because it's really good.
These are all of the Martin Scorsese films that I have seen in chronological order.
These are all of the Woody Allen movies I've seen in chronological order.
2012 was one of the best years for movies. We had The Dark Knight Rises, Lincoln, Life of Pi, The Master, Django Unchained, Skyfall, Silver Linings Playbook... and I still haven't seen half of them. 2012 was a year almost too good to be true. But it feels like there was so much given in 2012, that there isn't a whole lot to get in 2013. But I will try to make the most of it.
I made a list before the Oscars, but I wanted to wait a little so then I could catch up on everything I needed to see. I am just about caught up. This list isn't a whole lot different, but I am glad I waited because it has given me some time to decide on that dreaded #10 slot. Happy Reading! Honorable Mentions: This is 40, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Ted, Friends with Kids, Hysteria, Chronicle, Men in Black III (I'm still rockin' it).
I saw almost a hundred movies in 2012, but not quite a hundred, so I may do as I usually do and make a following list once I've seen everything I need to see. But for now, to tie in with the Oscars, here are the best movies I have seen so far in 2012.The following are a list of movies I either gave a 9 or 10, and I had to narrow it down to 25 because there are just too many good movies this year. There is a tie for the number ten slot, so the 10 and 11 are both 10, if that makes sense. I will point it out later. Honorable mentions: Chronicle, Men in Black III (don't judge it was damn good). Happy Reading.
For the first time ever, I have seen all of the Best Picture nominees before the big night. It's a good feeling. a feeling of accomplishment. They should really give me an award. This years race is tough, and it's tough to choose which movie is better than the other. So I'm going to rank all nine of them in the order they deserve.
I realize i'm a bit late, but now I feel that i've seen enough movies in 2011. I've left a lot out, so here's an honroable mention: Rango, Thor, X-Men: First Class, Unknown, The Adjustment Bureau, Super 8, Tower Heist, The Muppets, The Rum Diary.
These are my favorite directors.
I cannot give a best list yet, but I can make a worst, and here they are.
I missed out on a lot in 2011, but I also saw a lot. So, I will make two lists. One now, one another time. When the time is right.
The movies on this lsit weren't nominated for Oscars, and may have been overlooked, so i'm giving them justice.
The list of the year's best sequels. A lot won't make the list, cause it's out of 5. I would like to give an honorable mention to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, because I think it's the best one since the original.
The best films of the 80's.
My favorite films of the 90's.
These are my all time favorites, period.
The best films of the past decade.
These are the best films of 2010, a revised version.
Next year is probably going to be the biggest year for me when it comes to movies. My top 3 favorite directors have movies coming out, so these are the ones I have to watch out for.
