Captain Phillips (2013)
A Thrilling, Enjoyable, and Sometimes Depressing; but Emotionally Confusing
It's a thrilling movie, I enjoyed it. What bothers me though how the story was supposed to affect mesympathy for the good guy (victim, ie. the captain)but Captain Phillips confused me by maneuvering this feeling toward the antagonists.
From the start of the movie to the finish, I have more sympathy toward the antagonist. It seemed from the start, the protagonists have all the benefit; from the number of them (crew), the familiarity of their own vessel's territory, then the number of the military and how effective their communication as opposed to the four antagonists.
If, hypothetically, you forget that the antagonists are the one who take over the vessel, then maybe you'll hope that they're succeeding their venture. It's weird that it seems the captain acted so much as he's in authority. Moreover, sometimes it insulted my intelligencewasting time finding other crew? Negotiating by coming inside alone into the military vessel?
Captain Phillips is thrilling and I enjoyed much as well as it bothered me, because it threw all my feeling over to all directions throughout the entire movie's duration.
The Thing (2011)
Felt like I was taken back to one century ago of movie or this world era
The Thing really insult my intelligence. I'm not complaining with the effect, only the story line, oh my. From the start to end, I didn't get it (hey I'm trying to be polite). The thing that cause the scientist to come the Antartica site, the complication, the solution; how come that these characters are the only people that feel the excitement (Isn't that should be the audience?). I don't feel the ship and the aliens have any connection at all, no equality, no congruity. The Thing didn't make any sense; while other film could make stories that don't make any sense have other interesting features, the Thing just dull all the way. All I see is a bunch of people running around. This is madness.
The Michael J. Fox Show (2013)
A Full Life
"The Michael J. Fox Show" is about Mike Henry, his down-to-earth wife, their diverse kids, and their modern progressive auntis about fully functional familyand Mike Henry's career as a newscaster and above all, in the most good spirits, the Parkinson's disease, which inspired it.
A Full Life, in Spite Of
Obviously, the newscast things is really sticking out. It really influences the dynamic of the sitcomthe family. The show is full of iteverybody in the New York knows him or as Mike thought. I always love that as the source of my laugh; and where those laughs will be going; get better.
You won't want to miss out the excitement of the first episode where it introduces the characters. I'm very sure this show will has its moments, you and I could see it; Michael J. Fox just saving it for later.
The Crazy Ones (2013)
Big Producers and Big Stars
Looking the two veteran casts, Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar, feel like watching a feature film compacted to an hour-length show compacted again to a half an hour show of which usually an hour show because of the content of the premise.
Which is the same old advertising workplace showmore fitted in an hour-lengthstarts with the same old challenge in the first episode. It's true I couldn't believe how "The Crazy Ones" is over in a blip of time; whereas other comedy shows have the impression of time of which a half hour duration felt to be so longthese are better. But, you wouldn't want to miss Kelly Clarkson as a guest star anyway. There is obviously a clear plot in this short show, leaping from one to another. Attempting to be witty in each segment but with nothing uniqueor probably conjuring up cozy feelings. I will hold on to "The Crazy Ones" because it produced and acted by the big names on previous big shows doing miniature.
I won't say this show is not entertaining. Not surprising, I was rather enjoying it and didn't feel that "Dads" was fully wasting my time. The problem is that "Dads" is just some, same difference. I couldn't turn off my brain from thinking where this scene is from? Alas, yeah, can't not remember.
Acting was good, the actors are the troupers. The evil is in the script. This show has a potential, it could go south or north depending on the script. No holes if only a little on the accuracy in relation to the premise or characters. Though it lacks the freshness and crispiness of Modern Family or Happy Endings, or the sincerity of "Friends". It felt "Dads" is more on the minimalism side, maybe that could be the success angle to where this show going to last.
The Back-up Plan (2010)
The only entertaining thing is Jennifer face and body
The Back-up Plan is the last awful movie I watched after Did You Hear about the Morgans? Although I managed with force to finish the latter movie, I couldn't be able to watch the entire the Back-up Plan. It is so messed up, I could not care about what happens to the male or female character in the Back-up Plan. The only thing kept me up until almost the middle of the movie is the jokes, a very short cliché jokes. After I made sure I can pass over the similar level of the jokes for subsequent scene I was in hurry to stop the play. Even the supporting actors are better than the lead actors as they spoken the scripts like boring interview.
Wuthering Heights (1992)
Simply put, it's the best romance of all times and more
When writing this review I abstain myself from reading all other review first. "Wuthering Heights (1992)" is the best romance genre of all time and it's not only that (romance), it has many element that is not available in the usual romance genre. It has an horror element (or more preferably they call it Gothic), mystery, tragedy, revenge, and more.
If you never read the book as I myself have read it you would be interested the moment Mr. Lockwood entered the Haunted House of Wuthering Heights. Would it be rousing to know why there is a young woman sitting in the dark when Mr. Lockwood entered Wuthering Heights? And that young woman while bear the same name with woman protagonist it's not actually the protagonist? I've forgotten how I felt the first time I watched "Wuthering Heights", but in this third time I still find how love or romance could be that intense and exciting to watch. "Wuthering Heights" not only very entertaining but also genius. It's not easy to find a movie that both smart and entertaining, because mostly it's smart but boring or entertaining but the artificiality is obvious.
This is the best Wuthering Heights version because I haven't watched the other versions and now about to. The soundtrack so eerily romantic. When you see Juliette Binoche as Catherine you see her eyes is like fire burning so adamant which makes your heart vibrates. The scenery is just sometimes breathtaking combine with the music. And no other actors can be as Heathcliff as Ralph Fiennes even if he said he isn't. And no other characters of Juliette Binoche in her movies could made me so satisfying to look at her than "Wuthering Heights". You never know a fiery love before watching "Wuthering Heights".
Recommended for "age 10 to 13 and haven't read the book". Adults stay away.
Reading earlier reviews I deduce that "T3I and the Secret of Terror Castle" does not meet their expectation. We easily understood that because this movie is really targeted to adolescent and below. If I was that age I would probably truly enjoy the movie but only if I haven't read the book yet. Kids would easily enjoy this movie because it's cool enough, such as the castle.
I was afraid to watch this movie for the reason that it would tarnish my good memory of Three Investigators and it prove to be true. When I was reading the book I always feel fascinated, the location, the characters it seems just magical. Watching the movie, it seems that it is a different world from the one in the book.
As I said that it would entertain many kids which just watching it now and never had reading the book before, we adults that enticed to watch it in which we demand something else than those kids will be disappointed. We adults hope to see interesting and eccentric characters and dialogs, that cool accents from Jupiter Jones, more peculiar music soundtrack, and more magical-feel but normal-looking towns would not get what we want. We won't even entertained by the case which is the one most interesting thing why we want to read the next novel.
For young men don't miss this one for it is really rare this kind of movie around: Kids Detective that investigate peculiar case without an element of Action in which nowadays detective movie would always combined.
Guessing the mystery never been this much fun
"Sherlock" will definitely entertain all criminal investigation film fans. Honestly although I enjoyed "Sherlock Holmes" (2009), It isn't the one I was looking for because it involves too much Action, plus too much weird technologies. "Sherlock" does look like stealing the idea of Stills of Information, though it used in the right part which we really want to know more (for idiot like us? lol), instead being annoying it helps to amuse us and makes us keep guessing the mystery (Isn't this what suppose to be in this kind of film?). Surely other classics of Sherlock Holmes never done something similar like that.
At first part of Episode One where Sherlock amazed you with his deduction, I thought it's too much to the point it seems silly (We already know he's genius). But then it's all good again. And right, joke parts will surely make you laugh, not like "Castle".
It's better than other criminal investigation series and for me personally it's better than the Movie. Can you believe it's only a TV series? Don't miss this one.
Red Eye (2005)
The Suspense dies too early
Can you believe "Red Eye" got much attention despite its not so suspenseful plot? Even film critic gave a good rating. Everyone said it has good suspense and this is what a thriller is. While the real deal is that the suspense only last for some minutes. It starts with exciting mystery like something very uncommon would about to happen, instead you'll know the answers that your thought has kept asking too early. No surprise that "Red Eye" duration just about 75 minutes. Who is Mr Keefe (the target)? Why don't I really care about him enough?
Although I didn't feel wasting my time watching "Red Eye", It didn't give me any satisfaction. I admit I was interested to watch "Red Eye" the first place only because Rachel McAdams. She sure is fun to watch.
