Despite being a busy father, husband, and teacher, I managed to squirrel up enough time to get some heavy duty horror viewing time during this Halloween season. Here's what I saw. (NOTE: Ratings are not meant to be objective! It's just my preference.)
My 26 Favorite "Worst" Films According to Rotten Tomatoes
26 titles | Public
Here are my 25 favorite films that received a failing grade (59% or lower) according to the overall critic ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. There ain't a bad one in the batch despite what the "experts" will tell ya.

Hey. As the leaves start coming down, I get to thinking of all of those Halloween sleepovers that introduced me to the classics, those movies that taught me to love the horror genre. Most of the films on this list will be repeats of other lists because, hey "The Exorcist" is usually in the top ten for a reason! It's great. But hopefully you'll find a few in here you haven't seen before. I take my horror very seriously and would love to hear feedback or recommendations. Enjoy and stay scared!
Best Horror Films: Part 2
54 titles | Public
I love horror movies too much to confine them to a mere fifty titles. Here's the spillover from the first list of essentials. Are all of the movies on this second list must-sees? No. A few perhaps. The rest are my personal favorites that have stuck with me for years after watching them. Despite what the star-count will say, there's not a bad movie on this list. They're all fun and some are even great.

My fifty favorite documentaries. Pretty self-explanatory

If I could only watch the same 100 films for the rest of my life, these would be them.
50 Underrated Gems

Being a film buff, you make it a point to see both the pop mainstays and obscurities. Some films are lesser known for a reason; they're just no good. However, there is also the sad situation when a very good or even great film goes unwatched by the general population. Here are a few films that I just don't think get the love they deserve.

Films from the Nineties

Here's an assortment of great films, good films, and others that are likely on here more out of nostalgia than any accurate gauging of artistic merit. Regardless, I enjoyed every film on here; they colored my childhood and young adult life with exciting themes and ideas that often channeled the decade they came out of. Some will be remembered 100 years from now ("Dances With Wolves," "Pulp Fiction," and "The Usual Suspects"). Others will be completely forgotten ("A Goofy Movie," "Monkey Trouble," and "Cop and a Half" to name a few). Regardless of their shelf life, though, these are all stand-out films from my growing up. Enjoy.
Fifty Foreign Faves

I remember first watching "La Dolce Vita" and afterwards thinking, "Why am I wasting my time at the movie theaters every Saturday watching (mostly) crap when I could be home watching movies like this? Not enough good movies out there you say? Try jumping over the ocean or past the southern border of Texas. Thank you to the translators who gave me the ability to watch and understand these fifty cinematic gifts that changed my life. Without you, I would have had to learn Italian to see Fellini, Japanese to cringe cringe at Miike, or Greek to appreciate the linguistic somersaults of Lanthimos.
