It's really not a terrible film...
I don't see why everyone dislikes this movie. I believe that the acting, while not the best, was somewhat believable. THE FILM IS NOT SCARY AT ALL. This film is more of a comedy than horror. What could be expected from an ensemble of YouTube stars? The "killer" is creative, even though "I did it for the lolz" is possible the WORST tag line ever. Although it is very predictable, this film is suspenseful from the beginning. I was actually surprised by the ending, even though I have seen numerous endings exactly like this. I gave this film 7 stars for 2 reasons: 1. It is from a new director, so it's probably not going to be a blockbuster, and 2. It is a great way to spend 90 minutes of your time. If you like horror comedies or YouTube comedians, you will most likely enjoy this.
Paranormal Activity 4 (2012)
Worst of the bunch... so far?
I started watching this movie with low hopes. I had heard all over the internet that it was terrible with "stale scares." The movie wasn't completely terrible but it had some scenes that shouldn't have been included. The film is slow and once it finally speeds up it ends, making it obvious that a 5th film is unavoidable. The movie had so much potential and I feel that the production was rushed. Since this is the 4th in a horror film franchise it's not surprising that it was unsatisfying. I give it a 6 because I love the whole atmosphere of the film, the scenes were just executed poorly. I hope the 5th installment is more satisfying. The previous films were wonderful and if you are a die hard Paranormal Activity fan or just looking for an O.K. way to waste 90 minutes, this is the movie for you.
Srpski film (2010)
Truly Disturbing! *Contains Spoilers!*
I watched this movie about a week and a half ago. I did not expect what I saw. I thought this would be just another foreign film that would go a little over the top. What I saw still has not left my mind. There is one scene in the middle of the movie that made me sick to the stomach. It is where the main character, Milos, sits down with the director of the movie. The director shows Milos a clip of a woman giving birth. There is a man standing in front of her. Once the woman gives birth, the man takes the baby and rapes it. I know that this was supposed to represent how society screws us over from birth, but the imagery was very very graphic. Another scene, near the end of the movie, Milos enters a room. Milos is filled with a certain lust that is hard to describe. There are to naked bodies lying on a bed in the middle of the room. A sheet is over the bodies' upper torso. Milos runs to the bed and starts raping the nearest person to the door. Later, a masked man comes through the door and walks to the bed. The man rapes the 2nd body. Once finished, Milos lifts the sheet to reveal his wife and son. Milos was raping his son. This scene was extremely disturbing but was needed for the ending to make sense. Overall, this movie was disturbing. I could barely watch parts of it. This movie reminds me of Antichrist, a Lars von Trier film. If you enjoy shock and awe, you will love A Serbian Film.
