Lacks the heart of the original but still delivers on journey of characters.
There has been much criticism about the movie being confusing and nothing but crude humor but there is more than that in this film. As a sequel the writers have developed plot lines for the human characters that give them an opportunity to grow as opposed to simply running away from evil Decepticons. Shia's character is asked by his colleague to help win a war and instead runs away from duty. When more people wanted action they got that as well as more character development than a typical sci-fi blockbuster.
Sam and Mikela's relationship is explored further in this second installment and it delivers on what it promises. This and more is plentiful through out the movie. However more Autobot character development would have been a welcome addition to the movie, but this can be attributed to the writer's strike and the staff not having enough time to contribute to what a portion of the fan base wants. Let's hope we get more character development all around in the third installment.
