Gregory K (1993)
This left me cold
This story, the way it was portrayed here, gave me a different impression of Gregory than the other reviewers, I am afraid. I watched this movie today on True movies, and I found I had little sympathy for Gregory's character. He seemed cold, and didn't care what happened to his brothers. The other reviewers say he was "torn" between his foster parents and his biological mother, but he did not seem at all "torn" to me. I did find it disturbing that he was so cold towards his mother, I know she was dragging him up, and she put him into foster care, but for him to stop loving her?? She gave birth to him for God's sake!! Sorry, but he came over as a real brat, not particularly likable, not to me. I know there are a lot of children out there who are better off out of the care of their natural parents, and that "biological" does not always mean best, but to lose ALL feeling for you're mother? I think he came across worst when he said he didn't care about his brothers, they were going to stay with his mother, if she was so bad how come he didn't care they would have to stay with her? Maybe I am wrong, may well be the real Gregory is not like this, but in this movie he seemed cold and selfish. It's all me, me, me. That's how he came across to me.
Legend of the Seeker (2008)
In defence of disappointed book fans
Hi, I feel I must speak out in defence of all the disappointed fans of the books who like me feel cheated, ignored and are totally p..... off with being told we are stupid or unreasonable because we are absolutely outraged. The stories have NOT been "tweaked", or "had small necessary changes" made to them. They are unrecognisable. If it were not for the character names, they may as well have called the series something else entirely that has nothing to do with the books at all, because this series certainly has nothing to do with the books plot wise. I expected some things to be changed, by the way, before anyone comes down on me because they think I wanted a verbatim copy of the books, but this is totally ridiculous. This series is a laughable parody ( Well, doesn't actually bear enough resemblance to the original to even be that, truth be told)of a great work. If you were not prepared to actually read the books guys, or you didn't have the budget to do it properly, you should not have done it. Terry Goodkind should have stuck to his original convictions. He always used to say that he did not believe his work could be convincingly and accurately portrayed on screen as it was meant to be. YOU WERE CORRECT, MR GOODKIND, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED THIS, LET ALONE COLLABORATED WITH IT.
