The Girl on the Train (2016)
unforgettable ,weird and compelling !
I gotta admit I wasn't a fan of Blunt before this film but girl on the train has changed my mind .the movie is so twisted and the acting is outstanding .the director has done a great job with the setting .usually this kind of films is very hard to portray and hard to convey the real image on screen .I truly believe that Emily blunt deserves a recognition for this role as she came across as genuine and believable. we def should see more film like this one that focus on characterization . Ii think this one is like gone girl meets before I go to sleep meets American beauty .such films can redefine the genre so im so happy I saw this one, that was a fun experience.
I Know Who Killed Me (2007)
original idea ,worth watching , give it a chance.
I believe this film is not as bad as others mentioned . Lohan was unlucky that this film was not released in her golden years as a successful actress in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls . On the contrary people watched it during her lifetime crisis with drunk driving and other identity issues while she was being exposed daily in the tabloids . I know who killed me is strange and the way it tackled the kidnapping topic is unique . it stresses a psychological method humans tend to adopt when they are feeling bad about someone else's pain . which is the sympathy pain method . the pain that Dakota felt for her twin sister Aubrey in this movie .There were few misleading moments where the director lost the trust of the audience . but luckily he managed to win some of the them back with some suspenseful moments by the end .Lohan did a good job and she proved that she can put her personal drama on the side and concentrate on her career . i hope she will be in more thrillers because she has what it takes in Hollywood . she is young . familiar yet mysterious and calm which is a great combination for thrillers and horrors . Thks .
Desperate Housewives (2004)
what an amazing show , and how sad it is to see it end !!!!!!!!!!!
i fell in love with DH the moment it started in 2004 . it had achieved what no other show could do by its dark secrets . classic humor and well plotted twists . the script is so good that it makes you believe that these characters really exist. the cast are unbelievably entertaining .with foolish yet friendly Susan . obsessed and neat Bree, funny and adventurous Gabi . realistic and smart Lynette .plus the believable and charming supporting cast such as Edie , Mike ,Catherine , Felicia ,Mrs applewhite . Lee & all the actors that passed by wisteria lane. all in all the show is down in history as one of the most talked about shows on modern TV . which in return made it an instant classic and a must see for all of those who seek good quality TV from all ages . it is sad to see it end , i wish the best for the team of DH and it was my greatest pleasure to watch them grow on this masterpiece .
such films can change the history of thrillers ..amazing ,,!!!
orphan starts like any other thriller, however it develops into something addictive, tasteful. and not clichéd that will force you to watch and leave with u with nothing but great respect for the cast that have delivered the best ,
some films were made in the last few years with the same suburban concept but none had succeeded in staying with the viewer like this masterpiece .
what helped achieve the success is the original script and how deep it was and how it created the characters rather than the shallow tackling that we see in horror thrillers in which every role has limited part to play and could never be charismatic like the cast of orphan . Vera Farmiga was amazing and believable . the little girl was also original . cinematography did justice to the story and added more mystery and suspense which in-return made the cast look valid and relevant . i recommend this film to anyone who is after original thrillers ,juicy stories ,and acting that will haunt you for weeks .just give it a chance and you will see . thanks for reading this .
what an amazing show . the best that came out of Hollywood in the last ten years !!!!!!!!!!
Being a fan of Madeline Stowe , the good roles she played in the 80s and 90s , and the fact that she was nominated for the golden globe for this series are the reasons why i wanted to follow this show . revenge is a really fun thrilling ride . first i would like to mention that the cast have done a great job ,Henry Czerny and Emily van camp are very convincing . Ashton Holmes added more drama and flavor to the revenge theme and of course Stowe has definitely portrayed Victoria in the greatest way possible . also the great setting of the show adds the element of class .the story takes place in the Hampton's , very chic very Dallas and falcon crest if you still remember these shows in the 80s . the plot is deep and and unpredictable . it gets thicker and thicker leaving the viewer wanting more and inpatient to know what will happen next . the director has achieved a great deal by making this series in a time when people got tired of the clichéd police thrillers where someone is killed and we wonder who did it . this show is much more meaningful than that, it touches deep matters . i recommend revenge to anyone who is looking forward to watching a class act with an original plot and a great cast that will keep you insatiable . i really hope Stowe will win for this one .
malice , what a great piece !!!!!!!!!!
Malice is wonderful drama thriller. it was made in the early 1990s with great actors like Alec Baldwin and Nicolde Kidman who by that time was just being recognized by the Hollywood critics due to her potentials and amazing ability to adopt to different scripts .
the film is about a twisted law suit between Kidman and Baldwin which turns out to be a roller coaster ride of lies and massive turn of events . when the film starts you think it is going to be another clichéd version of crime dramas where girls get murdered and no one can fine out who is doing it till the end . on the contrary , these crimes were just a distraction in order to support the element of surprise. the director would mislead you in the mini details of the story and then he would put all the cards on the table which would regain the trust of the viewer after they were trying to put the pieces together . that is how a great director should be . misleading at times. and respectful to the viewer's vision which was clear in this one . Baldwin and Pullman did a great job . Kidman again proved to be a strong character in all her movies and always up for a challenge .the ending was unforgettable and the plot was so twisted it kept you guessing . i consider this film to be another gem that is put in the same category of The hand that rocks the cradle , Misery , Fatal attraction, Basic instinct, and other classic drama thrillers that changed the history of cinema and raised the bar high which made directors think twice before doing such projects . i highly recommend watching this one and you may ignore all the reviews that came out rating this film as clichéd and forgettable . it is far from that . you would really enjoy it and think of adding it to your video library .tarek s.
could have been a great classic thriller, but .....
The idea of Sliver is unique and was never done before esp by the time it was released which was the early 1990s . by then the audience were sick and tired of seeing people with gloves killing someone and they wanted new approaches to crime thrillers , the director has ruined the idea of the film by the narrow view of stone as a sex symbol and how everyone wants to sleep with her . he could have made it more interesting by adding the element of surprise like not knowing who is watching these people on video or by adding a twist to the story of the man who sleeps with his little girl. also by hiring more sophisticated male actors unlike Baldwin who came across as immature and clichéd .Berenger didn't add any dramatic effect to the plot ,and looked like he was doing a cigarettes ad metaphorically speaking . Stone seemed cold and very controlled by the director' s narrow vision of the film and how he was keen on making another sex themed thriller like basic instinct instead of concentrating on the great potentials Sliver would have . the ending was very disappointing and forgettable . all in all the director had the chance of a life time to make a great classic thriller where people would think twice before they do anything because someone might be watching , but instead he went after cheap sex scenes and a predictable plot. it is worth watching after all just to see how Stone was coping with massive success of Basic instinct which led her to make the wrong choice because she was under pressure to stay the Hollywood sex symbol .
The Rich Man's Wife (1996)
a classic thriller to be added to your collection
i was very surprised to enjoy this film even though i haven't heard of it before . i happened to buy it at a small DVD shop in the UK on one of those rainy days. am not a big fan of Halle Berry but seeing this film was very enjoyable . the film starts like any thriller trying to set the mood and place for the unusual plot of a nasty husband and a submissive wife who is being abused by him .the night scenes in the woods are very powerful and it brings back the 80s style of suspense . the story develops slowly and reaches a complicated stage where it becomes hard to guess what is gonna happen next . a twisted series of events take place and one becomes really keen on knowing how it is going to end .the soundtrack is great and the acting is very convincing .
if you are a fan on the classic thrillers that keep you at the edge of your seat . then you should see this one . make sure it is dark and quiet around you to maintain the element of surprise . thks .
Monte Carlo (2011)
i found this film to be entertaining and funny . i went to see it with the least expectations .selena Gomez is a good actress and she brought back the times when we used to admire teen actresses and take them seriously . actresses like Christina Ricci and Brooke shields when they were teens . there are few deep messages in the film . about honesty , money . love and friendship .also i would like to say that the cinematography was wonderful and it was a big publicity for Monte Carlo, the movie was full of absurd situations like some cultural difference, funny moments in France and how some hotels aren't up to standards there when they are being advertised in the best way possible . . but the way it develops the story is admiring. all in all i recommend this film for anyone anytime . it is a feel good funny romantic flick .
Black Swan (2010)
Portman is the only actress who could do this film !
when i saw black swan for the first time i thought of it as a drama trying to have the elements of thrillers.however the 2nd time i saw it i realized how deep and great it is . Portman gives the performance of her lifetime .she really turned into someone else to do this one . also what a Honor for rider to be in this film.esp that we stopped seeing her in big titles after girl interrupted although she has been in the most talked about films earlier in her career ,her role was short but had the biggest impact on the main character Nina.i read somewhere that this film was described as intoxicating . well it is and once you see it you will never stop thinking about it . we are all trapped with our demons and ideas of perfections and sometimes we lose track of what is right and wrong .realities or dreams and that is what black swan has told . Natalie Portman has convinced everyone of the pain she went through as Nina .this film is perfection in every sense and it has captured us with its magic . i recommend you should watch it on a weekend with a clear mind because it will give you a lot to think about .thank you .
